NUTRITION MANAGER’S NOTE: March is National Nutrition Month! Wisconsin FoodShare was created to help stop hunger, improve nutrition and health and help people with limited money buy food they need for good health. For one person, if your gross income is $2,128.00 or less or for two people whose gross income is $2,874.00 or less, you would qualify for Food Share. Benefits are put into a FoodShare account, using an (EBT) electronic benefit system that you access with a card that looks like a debit card. The card can be used at grocery stores, convenient stores, etc. Call the Senior Center for more information or for help in applying for this benefit.

Nutrition Counseling– One-on-one nutrition counseling is available to older adults seeking information on ways to improve overall health. Older adults who reside in areas served by Dane County’s Senior Nutrition program are eligible to meet with a Registered Dietician to discuss nutrition-related questions or difficulties. DIRECTOR’S NOTE: The CDC (Centers for Disease Control ) extends the Federal Eviction Moratorium through March 31, 2021. This order protects tenants from eviction based on non-payment of rent. Wisconsin renters should know they are not auto-matically entitled protection under the CDC order. Wisconsin renters who are struggling to make rent payments are encouraged to seek this important relief by submitting a request in writing to their landlord. To invoke the moratorium, tenants, lessees or residents of residential properties must provide a signed copy of the declaration form provided by the CDC, to their landlord or residential property owner. The federal legislation that extends the CDC order includes $25 billion in emergency rental assistance for states and local governments. Renters who are eligible for this assistance may use the funding to pay their rent or utilities. The federal eviction moratorium does not exempt tenants from their obligation to pay rent and follow the terms of their lease.

CASE MANAGER’S NOTE: Monthly MIPPA Moment (Medicare Improvements for Patients and Provider Act- March is Save Your Vision Month as declared by the American Optometric Assoc. Original Medicare does not cover routine eye exams, glasses or contact lenses. Medicare coverage for specific tests or procedures is offered if you have glaucoma, cataracts, diabetes or age-related macular degeneration. Original Medicare Part B covers a glauco-ma screening every 12 months, if you are at high risk. Medicare B covers cataract surgery if it’s done using traditional surgical techniques or using lasers. Part B also helps pay for corrective lenses with standard frames or one set of contact lenses only if you have cataract surgery to implant an intraocular lens. Part B covers eye exams for diabetic retinopathy once a year, if you have diabetes. (Adapted from medicare.gov)

GETTING PATIENTS BACK IN Full Swing

The Chalet at Glorner Village was designed to bridge the gap between a hospital discharge and return to home. Emphasis of core is based on restorative and rehabilitation needs with lengths of stay averaging a few Weeks based upon care plans and goals.
