Our school choir will be participating in the One Big Voice massed choir performance at the Perth Arena in Week 6 of this term. Our school participated in the very first One Big Voice in 2016. The students will participate in a morning rehearsal on the 30 August, arriving at the Perth Arena by 10.00am. This will be followed by Young Talent performers at 12.00noon, and the Massed Choir perfor-mance at 12.30pm until 2.00pm. Congratulations: I am very pleased to announce that after attending auditions with the One Big Voice committee last term, the following students have been selected for special roles in the OBV Festi-val. The OBV committee said that they were very impressed with those that auditioned and believed any audition is a productive experience for a performer regardless of the outcome. They said there were many students that deserved a part. Congratulations, to all of them! Alice, Year 6, Compere, Diya, Year 4, Compere Wajd, Year 6, Soloist Beatrice, Yr 5, Instrumentalist (violin) Lina, Year 4, Instrumentalist (violin) Mount Claremont’s Got Talent (MCGT) Thursday 26 September, 2019 We will be holding our annual Mount Claremont’s Got Talent event again this year for all students from Kindy to Year 6. There will be student hosts, a judging panel, audience participation, finalist certificates and small prizes for the winners. Auditions: Please encourage your children to prepare an item for the MCGT auditions which will be held at lunchtimes from Week 3 to Week 8 (see the MCGT schedule below). Items can be solo, duos or groups and any performance genre (e.g. dance, instrumental, vocal, comedy, acrobatic, music video, techno music, circus, etc., use your imagination. If siblings or friends from different year groups want to perform together then the students will audition in the higher year group. Audience members made up of staff and students will vote for their favourite performances. These votes will be tallied and two to three finalist will be selected from each year group. Backing Music: All children auditioning must have their own backing music ready/organised for their own item (if music is required), on a CD or USB or URL link to youtube video, and must prepare their item in their own time (at home or during recess/lunchtimes). Items need to be a maximum of 2 minutes each so we can fit all items into our limited time schedule (items can be extended to 3 minutes for the finals). Audience: Lunchtime auditions are open to students and staff only. Family and friends are very welcome and encouraged to attend the ‘MCGT Finals’ performance show which will be held in the school undercover area, on Thursday, 26

th September (wk10) from 1:15 to 3:00pm. Certificates and

prizes will be given out at the Room 6 assembly on Friday 27th September.

EDU-DANCE

Last term ended with a fabulous Edu-Dance concert which was a huge success. The dance routines were entertaining and enjoyable to watch. The uncomplicated but effective costumes came together to create an impressive performance. All students were focused on doing their best dancing and class performances were funny, incredible and surprising. A truly great day was had by all and my Pre-Primary students said ; "Can we do that again?". The students will be happy to know it is all happening again, at the same time next year, with new dance routines.

Pizza Incursion

On Monday 17 June, students in Room 2 were treated to a special experience in pizza making. Partici-

pating in the process of making pizza was very exciting, especially when the students ended up with

their very own wood-fired pizza. Learning about the processes involved in producing wheat to dough

and making them has never been quite so exciting.

Special thanks to Kris Kempa for bringing the tools and technology to our school and sharing his exper-

tise.

Brownes Dairy Excursion

Room 2 and 3 students attended the Brownes Dairy Excursion on Thursday 27th June. Learning about

production lines, milk production processes (standardisation, homogenisation and pasteurisation) safe-

ty practices and testing in the innovation kitchen were some activities we participated in. Despite the

heavy rains during the morning, we managed to meet and milk Betsy!

All in all, it was an exciting day learning, fun and going home with a bag of ‘goodies’!

Horrible Histories First Fleet Assembly Room 3

On the last week of term, Room 3 took us on the gruesome journey of the First Fleet. As part of HASS, the students were required to learn about conditions of Georgian Britain, the reasons for trans-portation and trials of travelling on the First Fleet. The students loved taking on the roles of factory workers losing fingers and criminals picking pockets. The judge did an excellent job of sentencing our young criminals and the Morning Show parody gave us a taste of what daily life was like on board the ships. The assembly finished with a Horrible Histories song all about the first settlers.

The whole class put on a fantastic performance with plenty of laughs for students and adults alike. The students had a brilliant time performing and showed high levels of confidence. They should all be very proud.
