These synchronous motors are for direct driving from an a.c. supply. Ideally suited for time driving in
instrumentation, machine and process control. The smaller units can be directly connected to the
synchronous gearboxes (typical stock no. 332-868 etc).

Shaded pole ac motor gear unit
Suitable for many applications requiring a low speed, high torque and
quiet running unit
Typical applications include catering equipment, vending machines,
feed screw and transport mechanisms
Motor is rated for continuous operation with Class B insulation and a
thermal cut-out protection
A 240 Vac 50/60 Hz shaded pole motor with starting characteristics ideal
for small loads such as air and liquid movement
The 6Ø x 25mm long stainless steel shaft extension is threaded M4 for
the first 5 mm as well as having a 1 mm deep flat for 19 mm
The two pole windings are varnish impregnated to class F insulation,
impedance protected. Non-reversing, self-starting, r.f. and t.v.
interference-free. Sintered bronze bearings
Two versions are offered: clockwise (cw) and anti-clockwise (acw)
rotation as viewed from extension shaft. Complete with 300 mm supply
leads including earth. Both versions are UL 94-V0 rated and are self
extinguishing within 10-15 seconds
Consisting of two separate phases wound on 12 pole pairs,
which when connected in either series or parallel will allow the
motor to be run from 240Vac or 110Vac respectively. The
motor is provided with two phasing capacitors which,
depending on connections, will either forward or reverse the
motor direction
Supply voltage tolerance ±10%. Input power at 240 V, 1.7 W,
110 V, 0.8 W. Working torque at 240 V, 7 mNm, 110 V, 4 mNm

The basic control panel features a single line numeric display. The panel
can be used to control the drive, set the parameter values or copy them
from one drive to another.

function to guide the user. It includes a real time clock, which can be used
as start/ stop. The control panel can be used for copying parameters for

Potentiometer used to give fast end easy local control to the drive,
simply connects to the drive I/O rail.

A powerbrake unit is used where fast, efficient and predictable stopping of a machine in the shortest
possible time is required. Using the d.c. injection method, it provides a controlled deceleration to a
stop, by injecting a d.c. current into two of the motor terminals and neutralising the rotating magnetic
field in the motor after the 3 phase supply has been disconnected. This stops the motor coasting to a
halt and reduces the delay time by this enforced braking. They can be used with a standard 3 phase
induction motor. The unit may be located on a piece of machinery or adjacent to it, with little
disruption or modification required to the existing wiring. The Powerbrake units provide a simple cost-
effective solution to motor braking, which is maintenance and wear-free.,Brake Module - For a brake

High quality ovoid reduction gearboxes of similar
construction to the synchronous gearboxes. A double-ended

applications.,Alternatively, the gearbox and precision dc
motor combination can be employed in low inertia speed
control systems.
These modular electronic units are designed for the smooth braking of
3 phase ac. induction motors from 1.1 to 5.5kW as used on production
and process machinery.
The modules use the principle of injecting a dc. current into the stator
windings producing a stationary magnetic field. This stationary field has
the effect of retarding the rotor and stopping the drive transmission.
Braking is initiated by external control devices such as push buttons,
limit switches, etc. which in turn power up the module and close the
ancillary braking contactor (not supplied). For suitable contactors see
the Control Gear/Switchgear Section of the Catalogue.
Electronic modules have the following benefits over mechanical
equivalents.

These motors have an offset multi-ratio plastic gearbox
fitted. They are available in two formats, either assembled
or unassembled. The assembled is supplied in a final ratio of
4096:1. The unassembled are supplied with 4:1 ratio pinion
gears which can be assembled to produce ratios from 4:1 to
4096:1, depending on how many gears are fitted. The final
output speed is determined by the motor supply voltage.

The motor drive is a PWM-based DC-motor driver. The materials
and features meet the industrial environment requirements. The
device is CE marked and has been tested through EMC
measurements required by industrial environment.Motor voltage
is regulated against supply voltage changes, and there is also a
load compensation (RxI) adjustment. Thanks to these features
drive offers good performance in motor speed control applications.
The current limit and the rpm range are adjustable with trimmer
potentiometers. The power stage of the device is protected against
short-circuit and overload (over temp.).The drive is easy to mount
EM-174 motor drive is designed for DC-motor speed control. The
unit regulates motor voltage so a non regulated supply voltage is
suitable. Potentiometer or direct voltage signal can be used to give
the speed control value. Rotation direction changes when control
input value turns negative or if control input signal is applied to

This range of cost effective low voltage dc. motor controllers
are suitable for use with permanent magnet dc. motors up
to 12A. The boxed version is protected to

The Module has a variety of uses which include the speed control of motors up to
3 Amps maximum current consumption. Pulse Width Modulation provides
proportional output control and torque maintenance. Output control is achieved
by varying the output pulse. The unit is supplied with insulating washers and is
easy to install with inputs and outputs clearly indicated. Must not be used with
digital inputs. Maximum current 3A continuous, 5A peak
Cost-effective dc motor speed controllers suitable for use
with shunt and permanent dc motors, such as the
Parvalux range. The built-in EMC and Harmonic Filters
can enable a complete drive to conform with the
statutory EMC and Harmonics directives
The unit comprises a mains-driven power supply feeding a
variable-gain pre-amplifier, 5.1Vdc stabilised reference
supplies, and a driver amplifier with adjustable gain.,All
outputs are short-circuit protected and the output current of
the driver amplifier to the motor can be adjusted (via one
external resistor) to between 380mA and 25mA. This feature
can be used to protect the servo system from damage in the
event of a mechanical overload. In the position control mode

1.8° Step Angle,The motors are directly compatible with the stepper motor drive boards and also drive
either motor (if required) in the half step mode i.e. 0.9° per step resulting in higher resolution, greater
performance stability and faster stepping rates. Direction, velocity, acceleration/deceleration can be
controlled by a stepper motor controller.,Applying the correct electrical pulse sequence to the
windings of the stepper motor results in a 1.8° step angle rotation of the spindle (i.e. 200 steps per
revolution). When correctly loaded and driven these motors will produce discrete output steps. The
number of steps and speed of rotation are determined by the number of pulses and frequency of the
input signal. This provides an ideal method for speed and position control. The motors are directly
compatible with stepper motor drive boards.,Applications include:

Permanent magnet four-phase hybrid stepper motors
with 7.5 or 15° step angles. The motors have 6-lead
connections and are consequently suitable for use with
either unipolar or bipolar drives.
Note: Typical gearbox backlash is 2° and this should be allowed for
when positional accuracy is critical.
A permanent magnet 5V stepper motor fitted with an ovoid
gearhead, which provides a rotational speed reduction and
increased torque output.
A unipolar stepper motor drive board intended for stand
alone operation. Although the board does not suit the RS
stepper backplane system, it is a standard Euroboard size
complete with a 32-way DIN 41612 plug connector for
plugging into any Eurocard compatible racking system. The
board can also be surface mounted if required.

The stepper drive system back plane allows the stepper drive
power supply to be readily connected to two of the bipolarstepper drive cards and the programmable 2 axiscontrol board. Connection is without the need to use a
soldering iron enabling a complete system to be constructed
