Couts’ Pastoral Team
Letters from Timothy
Pastor Rod Corder Pastor Len Johnson Pastor Georgia Orr Pastor Tim Jarrell
Lodge steps to meet the requirement from
our insurance company. Jamie Greene,
chairman of the Trustees, has done an out-
standing job of addressing the building
needs and seeing that the projects are being
done. He also took care of a tree that had
fallen from our lot over on a neighbors
fence, changed a van battery and anything
else that has happened at the last minute.
Thank you to everyone, those specifically
mentioned and those who are not, for your
dedication and taking care of our church
building. A special thanks to the Chicks in
Action for the care packages sent to our Col-
lege Students. I look forward to welcoming
these students home for the summer.
There are two upcoming events that I rec-
ommend that you participate in, if at all pos-
sible. One is the National Day of Prayer Ser-
vice that is this Thursday, May 2nd at 7 p.m.
at the Ninth Grade Center. The other is a
Christian Concert featuring Josh Wilson that
is being held at Couts on Friday, June 14th.
If you would like more information on Josh
Wilson, please visit his website http://www.joshwilsonmusic.com/
My family continues to feel incredibly
blessed to serve with you at Couts.
Keep the Son in your eyes,
May, as always, is proving to be an in-
credibly busy month. I hope you are still
finding creative ways to connect with the
people on your 4 x 4 list and that God will
open your eyes to new ways of blessing
them. Keep praying through these busy
times. “Keep on asking, and you will re-
ceive what you ask for. Keep on seeking,
and you will find. Keep on knocking, and
the door will be opened to you.”
Speaking of “doors”, I hope you’ll join
me in saying thank you to Rich Safford
and Roland Real for re-finishing the front
doors to the Welcome Center. They look
awesome!! They worked diligently to as-
sure that they were ready for Easter Sun-
day. We were able to welcome our mem-
bers and visitors in an aesthetically friend-
ly manner, as well as, a personal friendly
manner from our wonderful greeters.
Another big thank you goes to the
Trustees who have worked tirelessly to
make improvements inside and outside our
building. Anthony Whitfield is currently
replacing the ceiling on the walk-thru be-
tween the main building and the gym and
tape and bedding the wall behind the freez-
ers. Dick Ensminger has replaced the bal-
lasts in a number of light fixtures and con-
tinues to keep the lights changed
throughout the building. Fredrick Snowdon
has repaired some of the pew braces in the
sanctuary and added rails by the Scout

We had a great time at Love Street Park last month, so...let’s do it again! Why not? The weather is turning out to be nice—knock on wood—so we owe it to ourselves to eat some sandwiches outside in the sunshine.

Once again, the month of April was jam packed with activities: Kids Against Hunger packing event, CCA
talent show, decorating crosses to sell at a First Monday, Sr. High book study over Radical, by David Platt, and
random “fun-ness”!!
It has been a blessing to see how much our youth continues to grow over a short amount of time. It seems
as if it was yesterday when they could barely pray out loud, and, now, you’ll see them singing and worshipping
God at a park before we play. We are now focusing on approaching “safe” strangers at various locations in a
“safe” manner to have the youth become “comfortable” in spreading the Word! Creating lessons/simulations at
the church you’d never know how the youth would respond, but they love it! The youth greatly enjoy, though a
little hesitant at first, in stretching the walls of their “comfort” box as they continue to become more of a tool for
God.
This new month of May, we will allow ourselves to implement this practice. We will continue to play at
parks and other locations, but with a larger purpose than “fun.” Most youth groups I have been a part of as a youth
or as a volunteer seem to forget the mission we have been given as a Christian. Other youth groups concentrate
more on play, and numbers, and meaningless “noise” that creates no Spiritual growth whatsoever. Their activities
more so promote an emotional experience which is temporary; rather than a Spiritual experience that will last an
“everlasting” lifetime.
What I ask from you is what I will continue to ask you...How are you involved with Couts’ youth? Does
our youth even know who you are? What impact do you have on our youth? I ask these questions so you will rec-
ognize your existence within our/your/Couts’ youth group. They say “it takes a village to raise a child.” I say
“what role do you have in our village?” May these words ignite a passion in your heart for our youth and their fu-
ture.

Women’s Retreat at Lyle Lodge
A great “time-apart” is planned for
the women of Couts on Friday and
Saturday, May 3rd & 4th at Lyle
Lodge in Azle. It begins at 5 p.m.
on Friday and concludes at 3:00
p.m. on Saturday. If you would like
to caravan, we’ll leave the church at
4:00 p.m.
“Loving Well” by Beth Moore is the
curriculum for the event and was
designed to help women embrace
the biblical mandate to love and to
develop skills for loving others. Our
own, Pastor Georgia Orr is the lead-
er for the event. The cost is $35.00 -
if you would like to sign up to at-
tend the retreat, please call the
church office.

ONE SERVICE May 26th
Ten o’clock
Couts Week at
The Center of Hope
Couts Week at the Center of Hope is
May 20-23rd. What do we do to
support this mission? We prepare
food, and serve clients at the center
once a quarter. We need a lead per-
son for each day (Monday - Thurs-
day) to make sure the meal comes
together and be responsible for that
day. (Setting up - serving - seeing
that someone prays with the clients -
and cleaning up) If you or your
Sunday School Class could be re-
sponsible for being a leader for one
day, please contact Tim or Cindy. If
you can help out in any way, please
sign up in the Welcome Center on
Sunday.
Single Service Sunday
and Mission Fair
May 26th - 10:00 a.m.
On Sunday, May 26th (Memorial
Day Weekend) we are going to have
an AWESOME Single Service Sun-
day. Paul Whiteley will be preach-
ing, his last Sunday at Couts, and
our Youth Praise Band is going to
lead the music for worship.
Following the worship service,
please bring a covered dish to share
with everyone. Lunch will be in the
gym and each of our mission areas
are going to have a table set up for
the purpose of letting people know
about the different things that Couts
is involved in pertaining to the mis-
sion field.
5th Annual Sager Brown Trip
For the fifth year, Couts is headed to
Baldwin Louisiana to UMCOR
Sager-Brown. Ten awesome leaders
from the church will leave on Memo-
rial Day, May 27th, at 6:00 a.m. for a
long drive to Baldwin, LA. Once
there they’ll pack disaster relief kits
and health kits, as well as, work in
the local community assisting in
areas to assist the poor.
Please keep this trip and those at-
tending in your prayers this month as
they prepare to serve the Lord in a
mighty way.
