PASTOR’S MESSAGE: From the Mouth of Lyons

Praise the Lord! We remember God’s great generosity in dealing with us. The God of creation has provided all of the resources we need for the basics of life –

food, water, and materials for shelter. Nonetheless, Jesus told us that the poor will always be among us (Matthew 26:11). Different economies throughout the world,

Kmart is closing! Yes, Kmart on Peters Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem is closing. Why, you may ask, is this information in our church newsletter? Well, the reason is

“Gifts of Grace”. This is a great opportunity to purchase toys, games, sporting equipment, clothing and so many other items for the children who are recipients of our

“Gifts of Grace” ministry. Last year, a majority of the children did not receive a new toy

because the new toys went very quickly. Our goal for 2013 is that every child, from infant to teenager, will get at least one new toy! Please prayerfully consider what you can

contribute to “Gifts of Grace” to help us reach this goal in 2013.

There is a box for donations outside the Faith in Action classroom. If you have any

questions, please contact Sharon Burnette (336-306-2450) or Debbie Causby (336-595-2713.

Thank you all for your continued support of “Gifts of Grace”.

any additional questions, please let Colleen Whicker know and

she will be happy to help!

We are continuing Fred Hepler’s mission work to the people of Living Waters in

Cherokee. Any type of clothing, especially school clothes and very large sizes, are

most needed, along with any used household linens & bedding. Thank you for

helping us keep Fred’s mission alive! If you have questions or would like additional

information, please contact Pam & David Dillon at 595-9000.

MISSIONS NEWS

The missions committee is back in full force and we’ve been planning what the next year will look like for Morris Chapel Missions. As a service to the members, congregation

and friends of Morris Chapel, our first goal is to make sure proper communication is in place about missions. As a start, we've added this static spot in the Echoes where you can

find progress in missions, the current mission focus for the church, and how YOU can

take action and serve Christ using your own two hands. Also, two bulletin boards will stay updated with the current mission focus (outside Pastor Dan’s office), and general

missions information (outside Sam's office). On both you can find specific information

about the mission and how to get involved. Be on the lookout for more missions news

coming soon!

Missions Committee: T.J. Smoot (Chair), Rhonda Day, Sherry Gray, Jim Martin, Bill

Vanhoy, Sharon Burnette, Gary Mundy.
