Africa practice

Africa offers more investment opportunities than ever before. GDP growth in Sub-Saharan Africa has increased by more than 5% in the past three years, and it is home to six of the world’s 10 fastest-growing economies of the past decade. Even faster progress is predicted because of increasing urbanisation and a better-educated workforce.

Our Africa practice consists of lawyers who have experience working on a wide array of matters in Africa, including major oil and gas, liquefied natural gas (LNG), mining, power, and telecommunications projects as well as mergers and acquisitions and corporate and financing transactions. This enables our clients to leverage off our understanding of the complex regulatory landscape and to provide customised products and solutions.

We offer truly integrated services to successfully guide complex projects, including providing advice on host-government investment agreements, feedstock, product sales and tolling arrangements, construction, project finance, joint-venture and shareholding agreements, financing and capital markets issuances, public procurement, tax, environmental law, real estate, regulation, and competition.

Our group comprises lawyers based in our London, Paris, Dubai, Houston, Beijing, Washington, and New York offices, and we have solid contacts with capable local counsel throughout the continent. Our French-speaking lawyers in the Paris and London offices have experience in francophone Africa. This includes a deep understanding of the French-based legal codes and harmonising treaties (Organisation pour l’Harmonisation en Afrique du Droit des Affaires, the Central African Economic and Monetary Community, and the West African Economic and Monetary Union) that govern in many of

those jurisdictions.
