Overview
In this stage of the More Seats for More Students process, APS is working with the community to identify possible boundary options for the new elementary school
APS developed the Online Boundary Tool to provide the Arlington community with an opportunity to interact with the data in an approachable way.
5
Overview
During our January 23rd meeting, we shared and discussed 18 boundary option maps suggested by the community.
Based on community feedback, we developed a smaller set of four possible options incorporating comments we heard in those discussions.

Consider these options using the criteria matrix suggested by the School Board (to be discussed in a few minutes).
Discuss possible planning unit splits to achieve smoother boundaries.

Criteria Matrix

Criteria Matrix
Alignment – minimizing separation of small groups of students from their classmates when moving between school levels
Contiguity – maintaining attendance zones that are contiguous and contain the school to which students are assigned
Demographics – promoting demographic diversity
14
Criteria Matrix
Efficiency – minimizing future capital and operating costs
Proximity – keeping students close to the schools they attend
Stability – minimizing the number of times that boundary changes affect an individual student, and minimizing the number of students moved to a different school
