To the extended Diameter Health family and community

Recently our beloved friend and Chief Medical Officer Dr Jonathan Niloff passed away peacefully in hissleep surrounded by family nine months after being diagnosed with a rare cancer

Those of us that had the pleasure and honor of knowing and working with Jonathan know what a trulyspecial man he was As I reflect on the many challenges and adventures over the past few years workingand strategizing with Jonathan certainly stands out It has been an honor to call Jonathan a friend colleagueand mentor His values insights intellect calm and thoughtful demeanor and exceptional ability to assessand diagnose challenges and opportunities are but some of the many reasons he was so admired andrespected by me and so many others

I think I speak for all of us at Diameter Health when I say we will always cherish the times spent togetherduring our journey

Don Rucker MD National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) used a physics analogy atthe HL7 meeting He compared clinical information to a state of disorder ie entropy needing an input tohelp organize it like energy is used to order an entropic state That input to organize clinical information isthe business case or financial value that can be unlocked through interoperability

Pairing that analogy together with the second keynote Sagran Moodley from United Healthcare we can seethat one of the biggest opportunities to organize and clean clinical information is through the application forquality measurement both by payers and providers Sagran went as far to say that these concepts wereincreasingly merging into a new term ldquopayviderrdquo which represents a payer-provider hybrid

At Diameter Health we agree wholeheartedly with the direction of this thinking While changing clinicalpractice is extraordinarily difficult due to variety of providers workflows and technologies ie a highlyentropic state bringing order to information is possible and worthwhile when the opportunities align It wasexciting to see both the Director of the Office National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC)

and a senior executive at the largest insurer in the United States both agree on that aim The conferencekicked off with a very energized start and Diameter Health remains a proud member of HL7 and was activelyinvolved in many discussions
