More Good News Would Be Welcome

So few good news stories hit the headlines these days; news by definition is almost always bad.

The population love soaps that increasingly dominate television screens. They are drama of

course, so there has to be a good story line, but next time you watch your favourite and the

regular cast with their typical story lines, just think how few of the typical story lines are happy

ones. It is almost as if society revels in misfortune. New programmes have far more stories of

misery in the world than celebration.

Huge Prizes

There is something that certainly does hit the headlines and that is the huge prizes that can be

won on today’s lotteries, and for those happy to have publicity, the photographs of winners

holding cheques gets plenty of coverage. It is something that those running lotteries are

desperate to announce. It is the best form of advertising they can have to ensure continued

participation.

Prediction

Few expect to be so lucky as to win first prize, but there is always a chance. No one person has

a better chance than anyone else. There are many heart warming stories of people who have

won when facing financial problems. In the period of over two decades since the National

Lottery was launched, there are enough stories to fill front pages. Some are strange. Within the

last year, someone actually predicted he would win the day before it happened. If you’re

thinking he had any way to manipulate things, you would not be further from the truth.

Neil Trotter, from Coulsdon in South London, won £108million the day after he confidently

predicted it. He is a tourist car racing fanatic and the publicity photograph with him and his

partner had them sitting on a car holding the cheque aloft. He is well into the top 1,000 on the

UK Rich List with that win and rubbing shoulders with many famous people who have been in

the spotlight of UK life for years.

Internet Convenience

These days, it could not be easier to have a go at the lottery. The Internet has provided a boost

by making it so easy to play. Companies like DTD European Services will manage the whole

process for people who want the convenience of a company looking after the whole thing.

Once a direct debit is set up for monthly payment, members are automatically in every draw

and will be informed of any winnings coming their way. All the detail will be in a personal

account that no one else can access. It is simple, convenient and secure. The management

company may not be able to guarantee a win, or predict one like Neil seemed to do, but

members will have as good a chance as anyone else.
