On warm days, we play water games like “Drip, Drip, Splash” and keep to the shaded forest.

Each age group of Nature Camp enjoys different daily topics though all groups enjoy the same weekly theme. The content and objectives are different at each level with the goal to deepen each child’s knowledge and awareness throughout the summer and over the years.

Campers are welcome to attend all 12 different weekly sessions, each with its own theme. Dates and themes are described on the next page.

ABOUT US: Moose Hill Camp began in 1949 and is located at Mass Audubon’s Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary. We provide a welcoming environment with fewer than 120 campers each week. Campers are encouraged to play with siblings and other children of different ages during free play periods. The camp is held primarily out-of-doors and the nature center is used for rainy moments. The 20 miles of trails and varied habitats of the sanctuary are ours to explore.

CAMPER REQUIREMENTS: Due to the outdoor and explor-atory nature of our camp program, campers must be able to move about on uneven terrain. Campers are expected to par-ticipate meaningfully in age-appropriate activities, including nature study. All campers must follow stated behavior expec-tations and safety rules. If you have any questions regarding your child’s ability to participate fully in our camp program, contact the camp director.

AGE/GRADE: Camp age is determined as of June 15. Pre-school Peepers must be 3 and potty-trained. Discoverers must be 4 prior to January 30th and entering kindergarten. Campers are grouped by age depending on enrollment.

STAFF and RATIOS: Camp director, Kay Andberg, has been with us since 1993. Her children grew up at Moose Hill Camp and she wants yours to enjoy the same quality programs. Staff are selected for their maturity and caring attitude to-wards children. Most are college students majoring in science or education. All staff undergo background checks and train-ing in safety, child development and nature study. The few junior staff that are hired are selected for their maturity and are paired with instructors. Instructors are certified in first aid and CPR. Two staff lead off-site programs.

BUDDY REQUESTS are intended for children who would oth-erwise feel too uncomfortable to attend camp. One request per camper is honored when possible and only if made in writing at least one week prior to the session start. Campers must be the same age as of June 15 and both must request each other.

CAMP LICENSE: We are licensed by the Sharon Board of Health and comply with the regulations of the Department of Public Health. We are accredited by the American Camp Association and adhere to its additional safety standards.

POLICIES: You may request a copy of our staff background check, healthcare, discipline, bullying and grievance policies.

Those registering after May 15th pay in full and a specific form deadline will be set. A Late Fee of $20 per camper is automatically accrued for any late or incomplete forms and/or payments. No camper is allowed in camp unless all health forms, waivers and payments are com-plete. If deadlines are missed, we cannot guarantee your spot.
