Fleet Captain Report Happy New Year to all sailors! We’re ready to start planning our 2015 NWSA Sailing Season. I will be sharing information at the January meeting and seeking your input. If you are interested in being a Cruise Captain, be sure to let me know. Look forward to working with all of you and seeing you at our NWSA meeting on January 19. Mike Saavedra Fleet Captain

Ship’s Store I’m guessing for most of you, Santa did not put a new boat in your stocking for Christmas, probably because you have been naughty. You can still treat yourself (and look nautical, if not naughty) in one of our tee shirts or maybe you can add something from our Ship’s Store to your 2015 “boat maintenance” list? Our supplier of embroidered products, A&A Games, can produce single items on-demand, embroidered with our club logo. Check out the Ship’s Store section of our website for more information. You can always email me with questions [email protected] We also have a stock of pendants, caps and bags, all sporting the colorful NWSA logo. Here’s Ralph Daehn’s photo of Bunny Daehn in our smart logo’d T-shirt. See you at Ship’s Store on Monday, January 19! I’ll help you get stocked up for the 2015 sailing season. .

Songs of the Sea - Chicago Shanties The January Shanty Sing will be Sunday, January 18, 3-6 p.m. at The Atlantic Bar & Grill, in the back room. 5062 N. Lincoln Ave. (2-1/2 blocks south of Foster). Come out and sing shanties in an Irish pub, enjoy your beverage of choice and have a rollicking good time! We’ll also sing drinking songs, and anything else that is sailor-y or references water or the sea, ideally with a chorus we can all sing along with. Musical instruments are welcome! By car: street parking. By CTA: take the Brown Line to Western and walk the rest of the way or take the Red Line to Foster, then the #92 Foster bus to Foster and Lincoln, about a fifteen minute ride. Come join NWSA members and others and Sing Sea Shanties with us. Kate Whisler [email protected] Sea Shanty Organizer

Join Us for Snug Harbors

Is there a Snug Harbor in your neighborhood?

We’d like to see Snug Harbors pop up all over NWSA-Land, ut Gary and I can’t scout out all those possible venues.

So -o -o, HELP! If there’s a place you know of (nautical-themed, cozy, not too noisy).

PLEASE let us know! We’ll carry the ball from there.
