    Optional Workshop for Parents

Using Positive Reinforcement to Bring Up Responsible ChildrenDr. Edward Harris, Ph.D., Presenter

By now we all have reached the conclusion that telling is not teaching and that every lesson taught is not

necessarily learned. So, how does a child learn what is right and what is wrong? How can we, as parents, be

assured that the lessons we want our children to learn are learned? Parental reinforcement is a major key todirecting the learning behavior in children. Positive reinforcement is a tool parents have used throughout the

ages to direct and modify behavior in their children. This parenting workshop will introduce and examine

various kinds of reinforcement, and how reinforcement can be used to insure that the lessons taught are the

lessons learned. Participants will engage in smalland large group discussions sharing information about

    bringing up responsible children.
