This symbol next to a course name indicates that a program is dual-enrolled and offers students the opportunity to earn college credits alongside completing their high school graduation requirements.

Meet Jason Reaves...

Jason Reaves graduated from Monroe Technology Center’s Culinary Arts program in 2002. He continued his education at The Culinary Institute of America in New York, majoring in Baking and Pastry. Jason was the 2011 Food Network Challenge winner for his Lego Cake. He is now the head Pastry chef at Market Salamander in Middleburg, VA.

Administration of Justice I & II This program is an excellent pathway to an institution of higher learning in the fields of criminal justice, political science, and law. Auto Collision Repair Technology I & II Gain expertise in the field of collision repair by studying the use of shop materials, equipment, tools, procedures, and manuals in the auto body and auto refinishing fields. Certifications: SP-2 Safety Certification; Inter-industry Conference on Collision Repair Certification (I-CAR); Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification; CTECS Workplace Readiness. Auto Servicing Technology I & II Develop the skills needed to follow environmental and safety practices and inspect, diagnose, adjust, and repair the systems of the modern technological automobile. Biotechnology Explore biotechnology, the use of living organisms or their products to modify human health and the human environment, as it relates to research, bioethics, forensics, health and medical fields, agriculture, and environmental management. Skills are applied immediately in the construction of a residential home overseen by the Loudoun Career & Technical Education Foundation Board. Strong reading and math skills are required. Meet Riley Moore...

Riley Moore graduated from Monroe Technology Center’s Welding program in 2000. He worked his way through college as a welder to obtain his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from George Mason University. Riley went on to earn a Master's Degree in Strategic Security. He is currently running for Congress in the 67th district of West Virginia.

Computer & Digital Animation I & II Produce computer-generated models, characters, and animations using high-end software. Study the production pipeline from story idea to final render. Certifications: AutoDesk Certified User; AutoDesk Certified Pro; CTECS Workplace Readiness. Computer Network Administration (CISCO) Design, install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot simple and complex networks while studying network architecture, industry standards, communication protocols, and cabling. Certifications: C-Tech Introduction to Fiber; C-Tech Introduction to Copper; CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA); OSHA 10 Certification; CTECS Workplace Readiness. Meet Sabrina Chira…

Sabrina is a 2015 graduate of Monroe’s Computer Systems Technology program. She was the 2015 "Beat the Odds" scholarship recipient and is a sophomore at Christopher Newport University. Sabrina is currently developing an app for students to create study sessions and practice exams to help college students stay organized.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Learn to function independently in an emergency and serve as a vital link in the chain of the health care team. Certifications: HazMat Awareness Certification; National Registry of EMTs Certification; CTECS Workplace Readiness; Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Environmental Plant Sciences Learn about natural resource management and conservation, forestry, plant physiology, sustainable agriculture practices, landscaping and design, soil science, propagation and floral design. Certifications: Virginia Nursery and Landscape Association Certified Horticulturist; Virginia Flower Growers Association Certified Greenhouse Operator; Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Service Pesticide Technician; CTECS Workplace Readiness. Firefighter Use the Virginia Department of Fire Programs curriculum in a combination of classroom study, scenarios, and live fire training to carry out most fire ground functions under the direct supervision of an officer or experienced firefighter. Graphic Communications I & II Collaborate in teams to design digital projects from concept to finished product, and learn to establish and run a creative design firm by working directly with clients, establishing and forecasting budgets, and meeting real working deadlines. Skills are applied in the construction of a residential home overseen by the Loudoun Career & Technical Education Foundation Board. Certifications: OSHA 10 Certification; Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Certification Exam; Universal R-410 A Certification Exam; any or all of the 12 HVAC Excellence Exams; the National Construction Career Test(NCCT); CTECS Workplace Readiness. Introduction to Health and Medical Sciences Learn the vast array of career options available in the medical field while learning basic medical skills, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology necessary to function safely and efficiently within the medical community. Fadi graduated from Monroe in 2003 as part of the first ever Introduction to Health and Medical Sciences Claude Moore Scholars program. He obtained Master's Degree in Health Information Technology from Georgetown University; Fadi is the co-founder of Doxunity, an online network that allows doctors to collaborate, share ideas and trade professional knowledge all over the world, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa.
