Your task is to specify the exact sequence of URL’s, button clicks, and text field entries necessary to perform the remote observing run described below. You should use your “cheat sheets”, the on-line documentation, and especially your hand-written notes taken during the workshop to determine the EXACT sequence of commands/inputs consisting of 1. the address/label/label of the URL/button/text field to be looked at/pressed/filled 2. the text to be entered, if appropriate. You may consult any of the workshop participants or organizers (e.g. via email) on any single topic/function/process if your notes are incomplete, you’ve forgotten where the on-line info is located, or your memory of what happened at 2 AM is fuzzy. Submit this exam by email, fax, or letter to: Dr. Frederic V. Hessman Inst. f. Astrophysik Friedrich-Hund-Platz 1 37077 Goettingen GERMANY FAX: +49-551-39-5043 EMAIL: [email protected] And fax to 1-512-471-5060 attention Kyle Fricke Or e-mail: [email protected] Your observing account will be activated upon successful completion of this exam. Task: You want to observe the star cluster NGC 6383 the weekend after the workshop (2009-JUL- 26) in the Halpha filter to capture the lovely nebula supposed to be around the youngest stars. You have been told that the reservation calendar has been cleared of all entries for that weekend, but you still should reserve your time. The focus setting of the telescope should be 51.234 mm, so that you don’t have to perform a focus sequence, but a technician will leave the telescope with a focus of 0.00, so you do have to set the focus. The weather is forecast to be partially cloudy with 10% chance of rain. Make sure you record your observations in the on-line wiki log (simple entry).
