NDA’s land bill faces flak in Par panel, Cong for draft that reflects ‘majority’ viewNEW DELHI, July 5:
Buoyed by poor support fromfarmers’ bodies and NGOs to thechanges in NDA Government’sland bill, Congress will pitch foradoption of a draft report on theissue by a Parliamentary panelthat reflects the ‘majority’ viewfavouring inclusion of provisions
like the consent clause and socialimpact assessment.
The understanding in Congressis that if the panel goes by the gen-eral view expressed in over 500 rep-resentations and around three dozenappearances before it, a majority ofthe provisions of the 2013 land billwill have to be retained.
As around 90 percent organi-
sations have batted for retainingthe key provisions of 2013 landlaw brought by the UPA, theparty is building pressure on theJoint Committee of Parliamentheaded by BJP member S SAhluwalia to take into accountthe dominating voices before thepanel whose draft report shouldalso reflect this. (PTI)
