through meditation. After thisprofound experience, I wasable to actually see the energyflow in an individual’s bodyand therefore I could start towatch what was happening assomeone was healing. Fromthat I put much of the work to-gether.

I realized that we create somuch of our challenge in lifeby living in our heads and ge -nerating so many stresses thatare actually not real, but ima -gined. And rarely are the cir-cumstances as ‘bad’ as wehave written them to be. Icould not only sense our ex-treme tendency to do this, butI could actually see the energyfields emitting from an indi-vidual that was stressing. Theyappeared much different thanthose energies being emittedfrom a peaceful mind andheart. Most of us have alreadyexperienced such distinctions;we just can’t ‘see’ them. Weknow when someone is happyeven if they don’t say, and weknow if they are stressed evenif they don’t admit it. The En-ergy Codes help us learn to puta language to what we sense, but can’t quite put our fingeron with ourselves and withothers. And most importantly, they allow us to begin to heal.Quietly, intimately and at ourown authentic pace, we willheal.

TMN: Relating to"Femme: Women healing theworld," you speak of gettingto the "center" and greatpower. How important do youfeel this film is to relationshipsand well being?

DR. MORTER: Femme ison the frontier on Conscious-ness today. Its’ conversationspeaks to an age old Truth thatthe nurturing, comprehensive, and natural Feminine Principleis destined to surface as our ul-timate solution to all issuesborne of a fragmented versionof thought. When mankind at-tempts to beat the system and

gone to the doctor to get an an-tibiotic to remedy an ailmentthat I have had. Instead I havetaught myself – and many oth-ers – to self heal through spe-cific nervous system tech -niques that, by design, shift thefunction of the nervous systemout of fight or flight and returnit to a healing state. We allhave this capacity; in manycases we simply have not beenshown our wholeness.

TMN: How did you de-velop your Energy Codes?

DR. MORTER: Similar towhat I have already men-tioned, they have all come to-gether from my personalexperience, my working withthousands of patients over 25years, working with groups, large and small and from myprofessional graduate and postgraduate school training. Inaddition, I also had the oppor-tunity of growing up in a natu-ral healthcare environmentwhere the dinner table conver-sation was about Quantum Sci-ence and natural healing. Itwas inevitable that the codeswould come together in mypractice. I will also add thatthe largest influence of crea -ting the Energy Codes cameafter a life changing and tran-scendental experience I had

TMN: How did your chiro-practic practice help you de-velop your current philosophyand treatment?

DR. MORTER: Not onlyworking with other people’saches and pain, but in healingmy own. I realized that no oneheals, truly heals, until there isa more deeply integrated con-nection within them than therewas before they became ill.People’s minds and hearts andspirits must come together inunison before any sustainableshift can happen. We have torealize that we are whole andcomplete just as we are andthat there is nothing wrong andnothing missing. We compareourselves to others and weconclude that we are lacking insome way. Ultimately, whenthis is the case, the nervoussystem picks up on the signalthat something is wrong andwe are moved into a state offear or emergency. Then, afterweeks, months or even yearsof this, our systems depleteand exhaust and we becomesusceptible to injury or illness. This is one of the premises ofChiropractic: that the body isable to heal itself, if given theappropriate circumstances todo so.

I personally grew up withthis perspective. I have never

gracefully and with great cer-tainty give that permission toourselves. As with any greatTruth, it can only come fromTruth. That Truth resideswithin. It can only be grantedby oneself. Femme setsground work for such a shift inConscious living.

TMN: What attracted youto contributing to this film?

Dr. MORTER: I was at-tracted to the intention ofFemme: bringing a conversa-tion of true and sustainablehealing forward in our cul-ture…in all cultures. I haveknown for a long time that thisconversation would eventuallyhave its day in the sun. Todayis that day. The time has cometo wake up to the Grace thatMother Nature bestows uponus. get ahead by over utilization ofresources, being socially irre-sponsible, prejudiced or incon-gruent in any other way, ultimately the plan will fail.As we surrender to the laws ofnature and listen and act fromour hearts, we will mend thefallen structures that haveserved their purpose of awak-ening us and move into a moreholistic way is seeing, livingand leaving legacy.

All relationships will healas we learn to find our centralcore and the inherent powerthat accompanies it. The workthat I teach shows us how to dothis and this film sets the stagefor its significance. When webuild our relationship diffe -rently within ourselves, thenour relationships with the outerworld will shift. Women havenever been given the “goahead” for building that innercore strength, at least not as acollective. Now it is time to

“Women healing the world”doesn’t infer that men cannotplay significant roles in thisshift of awareness. They will;in fact, they must. It simplymeans that we have to begin tolook differently at the issues athand and see from the view-point of the feminine: We be-come interested in thelong-term effects of every de-cision and every action and weare interested in the nurturingof a greater good. Withoutthat, no one wins. And with it,we are One, with nature andwith each other. It is time forwomen to model that for theworld, not just wish for it.

CARACAS (AFP) - A hugebanner of a smiling HugoChavez covers the top of themilitary hospital where theailing president is recuperat-ing, but Venezuelans awaitfor the man himself to finallyappear in the flesh.

Presidential guards withred berets now control whogoes through the gate, whileChavez reportedly rests in aninth-floor room he hasstayed in since he returnedlast Monday from 10 weeksof cancer treatment in Cuba.

In recent days, the govern-ment, which has tightly man-aged information about hishealth, put up tall bannersalong the street of the hospi-tal displaying images of theleftist leader and the words"Chavez lives and smiles."

But outside the Dr. CarlosArvelo Military Hospital, people wonder: Is Chavez re-ally in there? How sick is heand when will he finally re-appear?

"Some say he's gettingbetter, others say he's gettingworse, others say he's still inCuba or dead," said JoseAcosta, 24, who works at theJ.Kelly bakery across fromthe hospital.

"There are so many ru-mors, you don't know what tothink," Acosta said, echoing asentiment repeated by a half-dozen people interviewedoutside the hospital.

A man wearing whitemedical garb with the printedword "radiology" walked intothe shop but refused to talkabout Chavez or the hospital, saying "I don't know any-thing."

On a wall, there was theimage of a smiling butbedridden Chavez flanked byhis two daughters, one of theonly four pictures that thegovernment released of theonce omnipresent leader onFebruary 15, when he wasstill in Cuba.

At the hospital's main en-

trance, a presidential guardofficer refused to let an AFPreporter go through, sayingthe communications ministrydecides if journalists can visit.

The mystery surroundingthe president's health has castdoubt over the political futureof a nation sitting on top of theworld's biggest oil reserve.

In power for 14 years,Chavez was re-elected to asix-year term in October afterdeclaring himself cancer-free.

But he abruptly returnedto Cuba for a fourth round ofsurgery in December andnamed Vice President Nico-las Maduro his political heir.

His January 10 inaugura-tion was postponed indefi-nitely, prompting theopposition to cry foul. Elec-tions must be called within30 days if the president is in-capacitated, and the opposi-tion met Sunday to prepare toname a unity candidate.

The government's lastmedical report on Thursdaywas gloomy, stating thatChavez still suffers from arespiratory problem he devel-oped after his December 11surgery and that the trend wasnot favorable.

Chavez announced his re-turn on Twitter and has re-leased letters, but thebooming voice that captivatesloyal followers and infuriateshis foes has remained silent. He is breathing through atube, hindering his speech.

GENEVA (AFP) - James Bond's famous Aston Martin car, complete with hidden machineguns and a smoke screen, is now up for grabs for a cool three million pounds, a Swiss weeklyreported Sunday.

Swiss millionaire Thomas Straumann put the vehicle up for sale in Britain with a price tagof three million pounds (3.5 million euros, $4.6 million), the Swiss weekly NZZ am Sonntagsaid.

Straumann, a shareholder in a dental implant firm, bought the Aston Martin DB5 in 2006and spent three years restoring the car driven by Sean Connery as the fictional British spy in"Goldfinger" and "Thunderball".

After buying the car for $2.7 million at a US auction, Straumann had 3,000 hours of workput into its overhaul, according to NZZ am Sonntag.

Its famous JB007 license plate aside, the Aston Martin boasts machine guns hidden behindretractable headlights, a smoke screen and a bullet-proof shield.

But one notable absence is a gadget Straumann chose to eliminate during the makeover:the ejector seat.

The pope, who started aTwitter account in Decemberand has stressed the need forthe Church to be present on so-cial media, has also taken tomicroblogging to say his finalgoodbyes.

A message on the pope'sTwitter handle @Pontifex onSunday said: "In these momen-tous days, I ask you to pray forme and for the Church."

PARIS (AFP) - Horsemeatcontaining a drug potentiallyharmful to humans has prob-ably entered the food chain,France announced this pastweekend, as Italy became thelatest country to be drawninto the contaminated meatscandal.

In Germany meanwhile, aminister suggested givingproducts mislabelled as beefproducts but actually contain-ing horsemeat to the poor.

Several horse carcassescontaining the drugPhenylbutazone have proba-bly ended up being eaten byconsumers, a French agricul-ture ministry spokesman toldAFP.

Phenylbutazone is an anti-inflammatory treatment forhorses which is potentiallyharmful to humans and so isbanned for consumption.

Britain alerted Paris thatsix tainted carcasses had beenexported to France in January, but by that time the meat hadalready been processed.

Agriculture MinisterStephane Le Foll said that al-though some of the meat hadbeen recalled, the equivalentof three carcasses had "prob-ably" made it to consumers.

There was however "nohealth risk" since the traces ofphenylbutazone found in themeat were "extremely weak",

he added.Le Foll said this incident

was not connected with thewider horsemeat scandalsince the meat had not beendisguised as beef.

But the announcementnevertheless added a new di-mension to the scandal.

The row over mislabelledmeat erupted in Europe inJanuary after horsemeat wasinitially found in so-calledbeef ready-made meals andburgers in Britain and Ireland.

Since then, supermarketsacross the continent havepulled prepared meals fromtheir shelves, with effects feltas far away as Hong Kongwhere an imported brand oflasagne has been withdrawnfrom stores.

On Saturday Italy joinedthe long list of countries thathave been hit by the fraud, re-porting its first case of horse-meat-contaminated lasagne.

Horsemeat was found intests on six tonnes of mince-meat and 2,400 "lasagnebolognese" packages pro-duced by a central Italiancompany that had used meatfrom suppliers based in thenorthern part of the country.

The tests were carried outas part of checks by police on121 brands across the coun-try.

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Sci-entists are delving deep intothe travels of whales -- thanksto high-tech tracking devices-- to try to help protect them.

Except for a few species, global whale populationshave been decimated over thelast few hundred years. Manyare at less than 10 percent oftheir original population size, following aggressive huntingin the 19th and early 20thcenturies.

Today, whales are threat-ened by collisions with ships, getting trapped in fishing netsand from industrial acousticdisturbances caused by shiptraffic, said Daniel Palacios atthe Institute of Marine Sci-ences at the University ofCalifornia Santa Cruz.

To better protect them, sci-entists at the annual AmericanAssociation for the Advance-ment of Science conference inBoston said they need to bet-ter understand how and whenwhales eat and breed, andwhere they travel.

But that information hasbeen difficult to obtain, Pala-cios said, because scientistshave only recently gottenhold of technology to trackwhales for up to a year.

Other sea animals have

been tracked for a long time."But tagging and tracking

such large animals has been ahuge problem over the last 25years," said Palacios.

With the newly collecteddata "we have examinedabout 200 tracks from (four)different species in differentoceans basins," he added.

Whales can swim between620 and 3,100 miles (1,000and 5,000 kilometers) peryear depending on the species

"What we see is that is thatwhales engage in sort of localrestricted movements, andthen they would take off andfollow very direct paths witha very high precision," Pala-cios said.

Zoologists have found thatblue whales -- the largest ani-mal on earth, measuring up to32 meters (105 feet) long andweighing up to 200 tonnes --feed for several months offthe coast of Santa Barbara,California, in the middle ofshipping lanes for vesselsheading to the busy port ofLos Angeles.

Climate change alsothreatens whales, saidNicholas Pyenson, curator atthe Smithsonian's NationalMuseum of Natural History inWashington.

No industry in the regionwill be hit harder than defense, and nowhere will the militarybe targeted as harshly as Nor-folk, Virginia, about 130 miles(210 kilometers) to the south.

"We are at the tip of thespear here, and the pain levelwill be acute," CongressmanScott Rigell, whose district in-cludes Norfolk, told AFP.

Defense contractors in andaround Norfolk began tighten-ing hiring six months ago inanticipation of the cuts, he said.

The sequester is already af-fecting Rigell's district. TheUSS Harry S. Truman had beenscheduled to head to the Mid-dle East earlier this month fromits port in Norfolk, but the de-ployment was put on hold dueto budget uncertainty.

John Boehner warning that hisown staff could be cut.

And with agencies beingtold to tighten their belts by upto 13 percent this year, evengovernment and military em-ployees and contractors whohold onto their jobs in theWashington area are set for ajolt.

Walter Tejada, chairman ofthe board of Virginia's Arling-ton County just across the Po-tomac River from Washington, warned of a nightmare scenarioin which job cuts and lostwages could send the city andits suburbs into a tailspin.

"We rely heavily on the fe -deral government," Tejada saidin an interview, adding thatNorthern Virginia "might beground zero" for the effects ofsequester. "There are a lot ofunknowns."

Under the plan, some800,000 Defense Departmentcivilians would be forced totake unpaid leave one day aweek from April through Sep-tember. Defense workers inWashington, Maryland andVirginia would lose a com-bined $1.1 billion in wages dueto the furlough -- money thatwill no longer feed into thelocal economy.

Even worse, said StephenFuller of the Center for Re-gional Analysis at GeorgeMason University, is the im-pact on federal procurement forwork done in the metropo litanarea.

If such procurement --which stood at $75.6 billionlast year -- shrinks by eight per-cent in 2013 as some expect, that would mean a $6 billion hitto the region.

A total of 331,000 jobs inWashington, Maryland andVirginia could be lost as a di-rect and indirect result of thecuts, he forecast.

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Thequestion facing Americans nolonger seems to be when orwhether the budget ax will fall, but how hard. And in the UScapital region, the impact oflooming spending cuts will bedeepest of all.

"They're worried about it,waiting to see what happens,"said Douglas Thomas, whoshines shoes in the RonaldReagan Building that housesgovernment and private sectoroffices a few blocks from theWhite House.

His customers bemoan thepossible furloughs that couldsee hundreds of thousands offederal workers forced intofour-day work weeks begin-ning March 1. And when theyget pinched, so does Thomas.

"Anytime something affectsthe government, with me beingin this building, it hurts mybusiness," he said. "But I've gotto go with the flow."

Welcome to the sequester, that lurching monster in theform of massive, across-the-board cuts made into law in2011 that is expected to wakefrom its 18-month slumbernext month. It was designed tobe so painful that Congresswould agree to alternativeways to bring down the bal-looning debt.

But lawmakers and Presi-dent Barack Obama have failedto reach a solution, and $85 bil-lion in indiscriminate cuts todomestic and military pro-grams are about to kick in,meaning a likely downturn in acapital region that had weath-ered the recession better thanmost American cities.

Uncertainty looms for virtu-ally every federal office. TheFBI will lose up to 1,000agents, air traffic controllersand airport security personnelwill be shed, food inspectorsand loan adjusters could beshown the door.

MILAN (AFP) - Italian fash-ion icon Donatella Versacebrought her own spin to punkon Friday, unveiling a collec-tion dominated by fierce out-fits in shiny black, white, orlipstick red vinyls and deadlyaccessories.

"I started thinking, whatwould we call the new punktoday? This collection is myanswer. It is sexy, strong, braveand full of energy," she said.

The autumn/winter 2013collection, dubbed "VUNK"by the label (Versace punk),

opened with a black vinylcorset swimsuit, fastenedwith a white fur clasp at theneck, and worn under anopen, oversized coat withtowering heels.

Punk met dominatrix asbrightly coloured monotoneoutfits in shiny vinyl, oftenslit open across the upperchest, stormed down the starkwhite catwalk.

Men be warned, the newVersace woman is not to becrossed: long and very sharp-looking silver or diamante

spikes graced most outfits, worn as chokers or clasps, while extra large nails wereused as earrings or ornamentson dresses.

The silver adornments soloved by Donatella, the sisterof the late fashion legend Gi-anni Versace, also gracedshoulder bags, while bootswere studded.

It was not all about thevinyl: there were fur coatsand small jackets in bumble-bee yellows and blacks, and

the label said new interpreta-tions of animal prints hadbeen developed for Versaceby American artists The HaasBrothers.

There were also tartankilts in black and white, wornwith thigh-high boots.

But it was hard to get awayfrom it. Even black woollencoats had vinyl lapels, and anevening dress featuring a spi-der web motif, a recurringtrend this season in Milan, had panels of vinyl inserteddown the front and back.

Perhaps the most eye-catching creation was a

fetish-inspired silver harness, which stretched -- spikes andall -- from a choker at theneck down to the waist, withtwo belts running acrosschest and midriff, worn overpunk t-shirts.

This means that thechances of the sport's greatestlegend adding to his recordtotal of 302 weeks at the topwould appear to be signifi-cantly reduced.

But Federer immediatelycontested that. "It's definitelyrealistic if I'm playing great, but I need to play absolutelygreat," he said, before ex-pressing his doubts.

"I can play great, but will Ibe allowed to? Time will tell.My big focus is on makingsure that every tournament Ienter I am perfectly prepared.I am hopeful I will getenough matches but if not myschedule can be changed.
