Morning Spelling: Using different colours, write your spelling words into the rainbow. Write 2 sentencesusing some of your spelling words for this week. Afternoon Activities for Year 1 Weeks 8, 9 and 10

Art Physical Science Home Help Your Choice

Create a gratitude treeon your fridge or a wallwhere each familymember can writesomething they aregrateful for, each day.

Make a circuit/ trackaround your house orbackyard. You mighthave to crawl under,jump over things. Youmight have sectionsthat you must hop orwalk backwards.

Build a tower using adeck of playing cards.How many levels canyou build before itcomes crashingdown?

Tidy your room - Imean really tidyyour room. Makeyour bed. Nothingon the floor and allclothes and toyspacked away.

Open a ‘familyrestaurant’ where kidsdecide on the menu.Help cook the food andclean up.

Make a card or a letterand send it to a friend,family member or thelocal nursing home.

Play hide and seek inthe house or garden.

Put an egg into a glassof water. Does it floator sink? Add salt tothe water. Whathappens now?

Help to fold and putaway the washing.

Plan a family picnic tohave in your backgarden/ balcony orinside the house.

Find some leaves androcks from outside andpaint some patterns oranimals on them.You could even dosome rubbings whereyou put the leavesunder a piece of paperand colour the paperwhere the leaf is hidingunderneath.

Play ‘The floor islava’. Try to get fromone room to anotherby not touching thefloor. You can usepillows, chairs,blankets or furniture.

Put water and a fewdrops of foodcolouring in a cup.Add a fresh flower(white if you haveone). Watch whathappens to the flower(it will take a while).

Help clear the tableand clean up thekitchen after dinner.

Play ‘What noun am I?’Think of a noun andwrite it down but don’tshow anyone. Get yourfamily to ask questionsto guess the noun youhave chosen. Onlyanswer yes or no totheir questions. Then letsomeone else have aturn at choosing a noun.

Use chalk to draw apicture on thedriveway/footpath.Check with an adultwhere you are allowedto draw first

Ask everyone in yourfamily’s favouritesong. Put it on, turnit up loud and as afamily dancetogether to all ofthem.

Make up a secrethandshake withsomeone who lives withyou. It could be usingyour hands or it couldinvolve a secret dance.Practise it daily so youget really good at it.
