Monday 11 May Dear all, I hope you will find time to rest and step away from work over the weekend, especially tomorrow. I was home-alone for much of this week, as my wife went to the teaching ‘frontline’. It certainly brought home to me just how hard juggling everything must be for many, many households. It turns out that cats and children do not see the invisible “Meeting Bubble” when we are on a Google Meet. Add in trying to make sure that Annabelle keeps learning something appropriate, and everything becomes a little bit of a blur! It really did enable me to have better empathy for households around the country as well as yours. But please can I encourage you all to band together and help one another to do the best we can in such difficult circumstances. We may find out more on Sunday but it isn’t going to be a wand waving moment that solves all our troubles. As it is VE Day tomorrow I’ve included a ‘party’ timetable to follow. Once I have written this, my job is to go out the front and put all the bunting up!! Maybe it’ll be a video! A mixture of rainbow and flags, because we now have far more people to thank, and sadly every time we may try for victory, it comes at a price. I have to revisit the fact that my Costwold Road Gang is surviving because we do have a routine. It still starts with Joe Wicks and a Facetime with cousins, then we keep to a timetable (although maybe not so good with the timetable this week – but don’t tell my wife). I think the most valuable thing this does for Annabelle, is that it demonstrates when work starts and finishes. So take a break this weekend and come back Monday with a routine! Stay safe, stay I touch. Miss you guys Mr Phillips PS Long weekend treat and maybe you could make these for your VE day parties!! https://youtu.be/T5bYv_zJMGk

Dear all, I hope you will find time to rest and step away from work over the weekend, especially tomorrow. I was home-alone for much of this week, as my wife went to the teaching ‘frontline’. It certainly brought home to me just how hard juggling everything must be for many, many households.

Please email either me or your Head of Year if you are unwell and unable to complete work.

Also, sad though this is to include, please let us know if there has been a bereavement in your family. We will then let your teachers know and so that any work deadlines can be discussed and or support offered where possible.

All Sixth Form led resources are on the following website so do look here if you remember seeing something mentioned or are interested in what is available. Some “free” sites are now coming to an end, one assumes they feel they have done their bit and now want our subscriptions!!

Mr Sanderson did a couple of very helpful Loom videos to make sure you all know how to upload classwork.

o From an app on your phone: https://www.loom.com/share/a3385c549f95444a8b1d9a1874ecf9bf

    o From your computer’s browser: https://www.loom.com/share/baecec11746948e4aad072150ca8310c

Year 12 EPQ I’ve arranged a Google Meet for Monday when I would normally have taught one of the EPQ groups. Don’t worry too much if you can’t make it. I’d appreciate any questions you want answered in advance. Classwork If you have any subject specific concerns or questions please use google classroom or email to contact the teacher in the first instance. If they don’t know you are having difficulties first then it slows down our ability to help. If there are other problems such as IT or illness please email the relevant member of the 6th Form team. EtonX I sent the log in details for this by email as the newsletter goes public.

Please keep an eye on your emails still and especially from Miss Allison who is gathering resources from you all for Thursday.

Yearbook - We are coming up to last chances for the Year book now so please do get on it with photos and polls etc. https://yearbook.com/s/whatsnew/

Cambridge university do an post-graduate curated website for work to complete in between A Levels

    and University - https://www.myheplus.com/

You must have accepted offers by the second week in May, but as stated before, my advice is to get it done as soon as possible.

Careers and HE Resource from Mrs Keaveney Digital Interviews and now online assessment centres have changed the way large companies recruit. Online applications are increasingly more important than your CV but if you haven’t had the chance to practice it can be daunting. So take the Capgemini mock Digital Interview and see what its like – get yourself ready for when it really matters! You do not need a CV to do the mock Digital Interview – but you should prepare for the interview in the same way you would if you were actually applying to Capgemini (or any other company). It won’t matter if your career choice isn’t tech but something different like Banking, Fashion or Travel – you can still have a go! https://capgemini.hirevue.com/signup/j23gtr78S5GSvJv4L66chJ/ Also Wednesday Webinars is a fab resource. https://www.ukuniversitysearch.com/blog/post/webinar-wednesdays Please see the information below on STEM course – thanks to Mrs Saber for this - Rosebery students can use the code ROSEBERY19 to get a discount.
