Poultry Show RulesEntry FormExhibitors are requested to ensure that class numbers and genders are correctly and clearly stated on the entry form, as transfers between classes thereafter will not be permitted. Any entries entered in the wrong class will be DISQUALIFIED from the show.No entries will be accepted after the closing date, Wednesday 4th September 2019.

Admission of ExhibitsCompetition Exhibits will be admitted to the Poultry Tent from 8.45 a.m. on Saturday. All exhibits must be penned before 10.00 a.m. Competitor lists will be given to each exhibitor on arrival at the Poultry Tent. No pen will be opened without a competitor list. If, competitor list is lost, the exhibitor will need to wait until the end of the show to collect his/her exhibits.The DEFRA, Scottish Government and Animal Health guidelines for bird gatherings will be followed at this show.Any bird that is suspected of suffering any disease or infestation will be refused admission to the show.

JudgingJudging will commence at 10.00 a.m.No food or water should be given to the exhibit prior to judging. Exhibitors will be allowed 15 minutes after judging to feed/water his/her exhibits.There must be no plastic rings on birds legs.The judges’ decision at the show is final.

DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED WHEN TRAVELLING TO SHOWS STRATHAVEN EXPOSITION CPH NUMBER – 83/538/8008

CATTLEEach animal must be accompanied by either a chequebook style passport (CPP13); or a certificate of registration (CHR3); or a certificate of registration and a blue/green passport (CPP1); or a new single page passport (CPP52).

This document must be marked with the Show’s CPH sticker, signed and the movement notified to BCMS both by the exhibitor and the Show Organiser within 3 days of the show.

SHEEP and GOATSMV/CAE accredited stock must be accompanied by a valid MV/CAE Accreditation Scheme Health Status Report. The expiry date must be later than the date of movement and the date of the show. All sections must be fully completed for the Health Status Report to be valid including a signature, date and Ear Tag Numbers of all sheep moving to and from the show ground. This form should be handed to the steward before the sheep/goats are unloaded.All Sheep and Goats attending the show must be correctly tagged/tattooed with individual ID’sA separate movement document must be completed for each movement to and from the show. Individual identification numbers must be recorded. The document should include your full CPH number and the showfield CPH number. The movement document should be available for inspection at the show by SEERAD staff upon request. Within 3 days of returning home notify SAMU of the move by fax, email or post.

HORSES/PONIES

All horses/ponies attending the show should be accompanied by their passport. Under current legislation Show Organisers are not required to examine passports however, Enforcement Officers may attend the show and ask to see passports. All competitors must confirm that they are covered by third party insurance.

REGULATIONSGENERAL CONDITIONS

COMPETITION OPEN TO UNITED KINGDOM1. The competition is open to exhibitors from all parts of the United Kingdom.

CONFINED CLASSES2. Land however small in Parish is eligible.

TERMS OF MEMBERSHIP3. The terms of membership are £1. Subscriptions payable in advance on the 1st January yearly.

ENTRY FEE4. Exhibitors on entering their stock with the Secretary shall pay the correct entry fee as stated.

RIGHT RESERVED TO REFUSE ENTRIES5. The Committee reserve the right of refusing any entries, which they may think fit to exclude, or to cancel

any entry made, or to prohibit the exhibition of any entry.

BONA FIDE PROPERTY OF EXHIBITOR6. All stock, exhibited at the Show, except where otherwise stated, must be the bona fide property of the exhibitor

in whose name it is entered.

ANIMALS BRED BY EXHIBITOR7. Animals bred by exhibitors must be in their possession before they are eight days old and reared by exhibitor.

The ages of the animals to be calculated from the 1st January in the year they were dropped.

ANY ARTIFICIAL CONTRIVANCE OR DEVICE8. Any artificial contrivance of any description found on an animal, either for preventing the flow of milk, or for

any other purpose, will disqualify the animal from being awarded a premium, and the owner of said animal will be prohibited from again entering Stock for any of the Society’s Shows. The Committee reserve power to examine the stock within eight days after the Show.

INFRINGING REGULATIONS9. In the event of any exhibitor infringing the above regulations their prize or prizes will be forfeited, and said

exhibitor to be expelled from the Society, or as a General Meeting may determine.

EXCLUDE THE FIRST PRIZE WINNERS10. The winner of a first prize shall not be allowed in any other class except where otherwise stated.

PROTESTS11. Protests against awards must be lodged with the Secretary (in writing) on the Show Day, or within seven

days thereafter, accompanied with a deposit of £1. Protests must state the ground of objection, and parties lodging them must substantiate their allegations before the Committee. Deposits will be refunded if objection is sustained, otherwise it shall be forfeited.

ALL DISPUTES12. All disputes regarding these Rules, or arising in any way in connection with the Show, to be settled by the

committee or Council, whose decision shall be final.

JUDGE NOT APPEARING13. In the event of an appointed Judge or Judges not appearing, the Committee, or as many members of Committee

who may be present at that moment, shall have power to elect others.

STOCK WITHDRAWN14. No Stock can be withdrawn until after the parade.

DECEPTION ATTEMPTED15. Premiums will not be paid should deception have been attempted on the Judges. In case of awards to cows in

calf or mares in foal, the premiums may be withheld until a certificate of produce has been obtained.

REGULATIONS ENFORCED16. The stewards and other officials have power to enforce the regulations of the Society in their different

departments.

VIOLATION OF REGULATIONS17. The violation of any one of the regulations, or the disobedience of the orders of the Stewards or other officials

of the Society, shall render the offending person liable to the forfeiture of all premiums awarded to him, or have his case disposed of by fine or otherwise, as the Committee or Council determine.

DECISION OF COMMITTEE18. The decision of the Committee shall, in all cases of protest, and in every other matter arising at or in connection

with the Show, be final, and every person present at the Show, whether as a Judge, exhibitor, visitor or otherwise, shall be deemed thereby to have agreed to the final determination of the Committee, to the exclusion of all courts of law.

JUDGING AND OTHER EVENTS COMMENCE19. Judging, parade and other Show events take place prompt at times stated in the programme of the Show, and

when required by the Stewards and under their direction. All cattle and horses must be paraded. Attendants must be beside their animals twenty minutes before the hour of the parade, and be ready to proceed to the ring immediately on receiving the order of the Stewards. Infringements of this Rule will render the exhibitor liable to a fine of £1, and the forfeiture of any or all of the prizes.

LOSS OR ACCIDENT20. The Society shall not be liable for loss or damage arising from accident or otherwise, caused by unforeseen

circumstances.

The British Wool Golden Fleece CompetitionIn association with JG Animal Health

Competition Rules

1. 2019 sees British Wool’s Golden Fleece Competition in association with JG Animal Health continue for a third year

2. The Champion Fleece from nominated agricultural shows across the UK will automatically be entered into this national competition. The show champion fleece and scorecard will be removed by a British Wool representative at the end of the show and stored, clearly labelled on behalf of the exhibitor

3. All existing fleece competition rules for each nominated show apply

4. Should the exhibitor of the champion fleece from the show choose not to enter this competition, the reserve champion from the same show will be offered the opportunity to enter their fleeces to represent the show

5. All show champion fleeces entered in this national competition will either be returned to the exhibitor or graded and allocated to the exhibitors wool clip using their British Wool registration number as instructed by the producer

6. British Wool registered producers will also have the opportunity to enter this competition via the network of 11 wool grading depots. Any fleeces entered via grading depots will be judged in two categories - traditional carpet and speciality/knitwear/fashion – competition closing date 28th September 2019. Depot winning fleeces will in turn be judged against the show champion fleeces in country competitions

7. Judging of the final of the British Wool Golden Fleece Competition will take place in October 2019 at the British Wool Head Office in Bradford

8. All finalists in the British Wool Golden Fleece Competition will be invited to a presentation ceremony in November 2019 held in Bradford and will receive £125 product vouchers from JG Animal Health

9. The overall winner will also receive a competition trophy and £500, reserve £250
