Homework 15 minutes daily reading is expected from all year 5 children.

Children should be reading a range of good quality fiction and non-fiction texts. Please support your child by reading with them, asking them questions about what they are reading and discussing the texts with them.

After reading, children are expected to write a few sentences about what they have read that day in their homework book. Spellings are sent home weekly and, as of this term will be uploaded to Google Classroom.

The children are to practise these words using any strategy that works for them.

They are then to use EACH word in a sentence to demonstrate they know the meaning of the word and can use it in context.

We continue to use Times Table Rockstars this year and would like the children, as part of their homework, to log-in and play it at least twice a week.

The children are expected to practise their times tables at home weekly even if they cannot access Times Table Rockstars.

The children must complete at least 3 topic based challenges from the puzzle grid over the term. The puzzle grid is on Google Classroom and the class webpage.
