After successfully completing this course, the student will have acquired the following learning outcomes:
Knowledge / Understanding:
Students
a) have a in-depth insight on manufacturing technologies. They know and understand the compley principles of cutting, forming, material removal and additive manufacturing;
b) know and understand process parameters, cutting and forming criteria, tool and work piece characteristics.
Abilities / Skills:
Students
a) apply this knowledge and are able to choose the right manufacturing processes with regard to geometrical and functional work piece properties.
b) are able to estimate the effects of process parameter variations on forces, tool life, wear mechanisms and rim zone characteristics.
Competences:

a) critically analyse company decisions with technological background and communicate the assessments to non-specialist audiences;
b) optimize manufacturing processes and assess possible consequences on part functionality.

Markets and manufacturing conditions are frequently changing. This imposes the necessity of long-range and intensive planning in enterprises of the manufacturing industry, as only early accommodation of actual conditions guarantees competitiveness. Students will gain knowledge which topics have to be considered in this context and how the gained knowledge can be transferred to daily business of a company. For the purposes of manufacturing engineering, Students know the following tasks that have to be carried out. After successfully completing this course, the student will have acquired the following learning outcomes: Knowledge / Understanding:

Quality Management
Due to the growing importance of quality assurance in industrial production and economy,
the lecture ''Quality Management'' was initiated at the Faculty of Production Engineering.
Quality issues of industrial applications and necessary underlying theories are emphasized
during the course of this lecture. It is the main aim of this lecture to present the students with
the abstract concept of quality, its importance and social relevance, possible organizational
forms of quality systems and relating quality management methods and tools.
During the turn, a broader perspective can also be given via discussions about more
advanced and detailed topics such as strategic quality planning, balancing quality costs and
quality related legal questions.
After successfully completing this course, the student will have acquired the following

After successfully completing this course, the students will have acquired the following learning outcomes:
Knowledge / Understanding:
Students
(a) understand the kind of issues that can be addressed and resolved through projects;
(b) know the context in which international project management takes place, including the reference to different stakeholders (their goals, interests, requirements, needs, their involvement and impact on success), including the reference to program management and project portfolio management;
(c) know the different project management methodologies;
(d) understand the theories, concepts and processes (e.g. those of the project cycle) relevant for project management;
(e) know the factors contributing to project success and to project failure and the management of the project related aspects risk, scope, time, costs, quality, human resources, communications, procurement, integration and their relevance for project success;
(f) know the tools and models that can support the analysis, design, planning, management, monitoring, control and evaluation of international projects.

(a) apply this knowledge both to the design of empirical research and to the assessment of scholarly work by others; critically assess or judge the methodological base of scholarly work;

(a) can formulate a project charter, to identify stakeholders, to establish a project’s scope and to develop a well founded project management plan;
(b) monitor and evaluate the progress and implementation of an on-going project and to evaluate a terminated or closed project;
(c) select and use project management software for the planning, monitoring and evaluation purposes described above;
(d) define issues in an international project management case situation, to analyze them critically with relevant models, and to arrive at solid recommendations for improvement;
(e) assess the suitability of different project management options related to the above;
(f) write a well referenced analytical report on international project management issues;
(g) present and defend such a report in front of an audience of peers.
