Hospitality Today:This course takes a management perspective in introducing students to the organization and structure of hotels, restaurants, clubs, cruise ships, and casino hotels. There are chapters on business ethics, franchising, management contracts, and areas of management responsibility such as human resources, marketing and sales, and advertising. Upon successful completion, students will receive an academic AH&LA certificate.

Certified Guest Service ProfessionalThis course is designed to teach students the principles and importance of delivering high-quality guest service. It is a foundational professional certificate focused on guest service, along with two the training programs Guest Service Gold: Making Connections and Guest Service Gold: Golden Opportunities to prepare students for the certification.

Hotel and Restaurant Accounting (AH&LA Certificate):This course provides a basis for understanding hospitality accounting concepts and procedures, the processing of hospitality financial data, and the flow of financial information in the accounting cycle that results in the production of financial statements. Upon successful completion, students will receive an academic AH&LA certificate.

Hospitality Sales and Marketing (AH&LA Certificate)This course is designed to provide students with a solid background in hospitality sales and marketing. The textbook’s main focus is on practical sales techniques for selling to targeted markets Upon successful completion, students will receive an academic AH&LA certificate.

Supervision in the Hospitality Industry (AH&LA Certificate)This course is designed to provide students with the principles of supervision as they apply specifically to the hospitality industry. Upon successful completion students will receive an academic AH&LA certificate.

Managing Technology in the Hospitality Industry (AH&LA Certificate)This course provides an overview of the information needs of lodging properties and food service establishments; addresses essential aspects of computer systems, such as hardware, software, and generic applications; focuses on computer based property management systems for both front office and back office functions; examines features of computerized restaurant management systems; describes hotel sales computer applications, revenue management strategies, and accounting applications; addresses the selection and implementation of computer systems; focuses on managing information systems; and examines the impact of the Internet and private intranets on the hospitality industry. Upon successful completion students will receive an academic AH&LA certificate.

Front Desk Representative Training (AH&LA Certificate)This course teaches the skills used by front desk representative line-level employees. Upon successful completion, students will receive an industry AH&LA certificate.

Guestroom Attendant Training (AH&LA Certificate)This course teaches the skills used by guestroom attendant line-level employees. Upon successful completion, students will receive an industry AH&LA certificate.

Managing Service in Food and Beverage Operations (AH&LA Certificate)This course provides students with practical skills and knowledge for effective management of food and beverage operations. It presents basic service principles while emphasizing the importance of meeting and, whenever possible, exceeding the expectations of the guest. Upon successful completion students will receive an academic AH&LA certificate.

BASICS.fst® Food Safety Training Certificate and Allergen Training For the Foodservice and Food Retail Industry Course OutlineThis course is a food safety training course for food handlers designed to help workers learn important information about food safety. This training is for any person who works with food, including the person who receives the food to the person who packages or serves the food. The second half of the course is a more in-depth understanding of the seriousness of food intolerances, food allergies, and anaphylaxis. This course is the equivalent to Food Safe level 1 in BC, is recognized across Canada, and accepted where mandatory food handler training legislation is in place.

Optional Co-Op preparation: Work Placement Skills

Students of the Hospitality and service management will, in this optional module, have the chance to put their learned skills to the test. This course will give students the skills necessary to get work in this competitive industry. This is the culmination of the 6 month program. Students who complete the co-op will not only gain work experience, but also have a certificate which shows their completion and their continued work experience at a Canadian job place.
