Align screen
• Important– Do with
each change of user
– ArcPad UI and notes input are affected
Wireless Manager
• Open to turn transmitters on or off
• Always turn transmitters off when they are not being used to conserve power
Wireless manager• Tap on All to activate all
transmitters or on individual transmitters
• Can’t use Wi-Fi while connected through hard cable using Windows Mobile Device Center
• When wireless transmitters are turned off status bar shows airplane icon
USB to PC
• Affects connection to USDA computers
• Turn off Advanced Network Settings
Uncheck thebox to turn offthis function
Suspend Power State• Green button – off – suspends
the device and freezes all open applications exactly where they are at
• All open files temporarily saved• Full power drain in a day to 2
days• Green button press restores all
activity and reopens files and applications
Power Menu• Press and hold the green
power key on top right side of the Juno to show this screen
• Tap on a choice box to:– Shutdown the Juno– Reset the Juno– Disable Airplane Mode
Shutdown Power State• Closes all open files and
applications• Unsaved data is lost• All settings are retained• Full power drain in a week to
2 weeks• Press and hold green button
to bring up menu• Press green button until
device activates to restore
Reset• Performs a restart – reboot
– of the Juno• Closes open files and
applications• Unsaved data or changes
are lost• Good idea to do this at the
beginning of a work day before going to the field
Disable Airplane mode
• Turns all wireless transmitters on
• Advice: Don’t do this– Use Wireless
Manager to control transmitters
Storage power mode• Remove from AC power• Press green power button until Power
Menu appears• Tap on Reset• When the Trimble splash screen appears
– Depress two inner programmable keys at the same time
– Unit will display a message to remove from power – then turn off
• Will not be possible to turn on with power key – plug into AC power or USB port to ‘wake up’
Summary: Juno power management• Top 3 power hogs
– Wi-Fi– Bluetooth– Backlight
• Turn these off using application items found under the – Start > Settings > Connections– Start > Settings > System
• Hand held charge mode unless a juice pack is used
Windows Mobile 6.5 – Juno GPS settings
• Within System folder, scroll to and tap on ‘GPS’ app
• Multiple tabbed page– Programs– Hardware– Access– A-GPS
GPS Settings – Programs tab• Setting for port that
programs will use to access GPS data stream– COM 3– Do not change
• Programs include:– ESRI ArcPad software– NRI Grazing Lands (CASI)– Trimble SatViewer utility
GPS Settings – Hardware tab
• Settings for the COM port that the receiver is physically connected to
• Set to COM 2– Set to 38400 baud– Do not change
• Provides ability to allow multiple Windows Mobile programs to access the GPS automatically through the Programs COM port
• Best to allow – leave box checked

• Claims to improve time to first fix for Juno GPS has been used in the last 72 hours
• Using A-GPS may reduce accuracy…
• Uncheck this box and leave unchecked
• uBlox GPS module is very fast
