Evaluation……….
……..Why ?
Module 16 - Session 10 (Management 3)
Because………….
We are a movement, not an organisation.
To enable us to move on, we need Feedback.
Without feedback we will not Develop.
Module 16 - Session 10 (Management 3)
Feedback should …………….
Be done by the people taking
part in a given event or
activity
Be objective
Be Enabling
Be Invited
Module 16 - Session 10 (Management 3)
Feedback should (#2)…
Empowering
Something that it is within that
person or groups, power to
change. Be done in accordance with the
Scout promise and Law
Module 16 - Session 10 (Management 3)
Feedback should not…………….
Be Criticism.
Module 16 - Session 10 (Management 3)
Criticism is………..
Usually done for the wrong reasons Doesn’t empower a person Not given with the receivers, best
interests at heart It is delivered without permission
Module 16 - Session 10 (Management 3)
When do we do it ?
As often as is necessary
Should be ongoing
NAOMIE
Definitely at the……………….. End!
We can………….
Evaluate sections or the whole thing !
Module 16 - Session 10 (Management 3)
When do you do it ?
On your own ?
Be careful you can slip into very negative evaluation on your own and not get an objective view
However you can’t help but evaluate in the bath with a beer or glass of wine after Cub camp or Beaver sleepover, can you ?
Module 16 - Session 10 (Management 3)
Evaluate in style You can………...
Be creative Theme it to match the activity Be unobtrusive Be loud & vibrant Have Fun!
Module 16 - Session 10 (Management 3)
When do you evaluate…
Leader Meetings? Section Forums?
Eg; Unit execs, Patrol Councils, Grand Howl etc…
Group Executive Meetings?
Further ideas for evaluation methods can be found in Colony/Pack/Troop/Unit Essentials.
Module 16 - Session 10 (Management 3)

Be selective! Be realistic!
Be creative!
Be careful!
Be honest!
Be balanced!
Be holistic!
Be human!
Module 16 - Session 10 (Management 3)
You will need to be……..
Actively seeking feedback
Truthful with yourselves
Brave
Module 16 - Session 10 (Management 3)
Task
Group Work • 7-10 minutes
In sectional groups brain storm to devise ideas in which you can creatively evaluate an event or activity.
Try to use fun methods such as games, integrate awards for positive thinking and encourage good reviewing practises.
Module 16 - Session 10 (Management 3)
Promoting Scouting
No matter what section you work in we offer outstanding opportunities for the young people we work with.
As a course, bring forward ideas on how we can promote ourselves using experiences from Camps and other residential trips.
Module 16 - Session 10 (Management 3)
Remember………….
People who are not given opportunity to Evaluate, don’t feel heard, if they don’t feel heard they won’t feel valued and if they don’t feel valued they will leave!
Module 16 - Session 10 (Management 3)
