Concept
My concept was “Nexus.” Gustav Stickley’s works were the connection of two different styles. He was the person who brought the new style into furniture design industry; however, he couldn’t keep up with trends, before his new style came out, and he went broke.
Gustav Stickley was inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement, therefore I came up with the idea of using “origami” to form the entire structure. Origami has simple forms but complex folding, overlapping, and combination techniques, just like the Arts and Crafts movement represent: simple but romantic.
