Model 400 Series

To Charge Rifle with CO2: Make certain there is no Pellet in Barrel. Fire Rifle to Exhaust Residual Gas.

1. Unscrew and remove knurled Tube Cap. (If unable to turn by hand, Do NOT attempt to remove with pliers or other tools as this denotes the gun is under pressure). Hold Muzzle End Down and used Powerlets will drop out.

2. Insert First Powerlet into Tube, neck end down. In-sert second Powerlet into Tube, neck end up. Screw Tube Cap Firmly into place by hand.

3. Cock Rifle by pulling cocking button to rear. Pull Trigger to pierce Powerlets and to release gas in Chamber. Rifle is now under compression.

To Load Magazine: 1. Remove from Rifle.

2. Pull Pell Pusher to rear and lock in offset slot to the right.

3. Insert Super Pells in Tube, nose up. Place retain-ing cap over end of Tube, when Magazine is not for immediate use.

To Load Magazine to Rifle: 1. Close and Lock Breech Bolt to Right.

2. Remove Retaining Cap from Magazine and insert Magazine with slot side out into left side of Breech Block. Be sure Retaining Magazine Ball has clicked into groove provided on Magazine.

3. Release Pell Pusher in Magazine by moving Pell Pusher Pin to left.

CO2 Pellgun Repeating Rifle -- Operating: To Load Rifle:

1. Lift Breech Bolt Knob up. Slide to Rear Automatic-ally placing Pellet in Feed arm.

2. Advance Bolt Knob and lock to Right. DO NOT act-uate Breech Bolt more than once without firing Rifle Anti-double loading indicator pin on Left side of Breech will automatically show Yellow when Pellet is in Chamber. (Will function only with Crosman .22 Cal. Super Pells).

To Shoot Rifle: 1. Cock Rifle by Pulling Cocking Button until it clicks.

Button will automatically return to Position.

2. Push Safety Bar “ON” Safe by pushing to Right.

3. When Ready to shoot Push Safety Bar “OFF” to Left (Red Showing).

4. Take Aim, squeeze Trigger to shoot.

NOTE: To Prevent Double Feeding: Discharge Rifle, if Double Loading Indicator Pin Shows Yellow Before Bolt Action is reopened.

To Unload Pellet from Barrel: 1. Remove magazine from Left side of Breech Block.

2. Discharge Rifle and leave Breech Bolt Closed and Locked.

3. Insert 3/16” Ramrod in muzzle end of Barrel and push Pellet out into Feed Arm.

4. Lift Breech Bolt Knob and slide to rear. Pellet will be in line with Magazine Hole in Breech Block. Hold Rifle Muzzle End up, Pellet will drop out.

Instructions Disassembly: To remove Rifle Assembly from Stock: Remove Front Trigger Guard Screw and separate Rifle Assembly from Stock.

Assembly: To replace Rifle Assembly on Stock: Push Safety to left to “OFF” position. Place Rifle Assembly snugly into Stock and replace and tighten Front Trigger Guard Screw. Care of Rifle: Lubrication: Frequent, but light oiling of all moving parts is desirable. Do not oil excessively. Use a good grade of S.A.E. 20 or 30 Machine Oil. Never use Penetrating or Detergent type of oils as they may be harmful to Valve Washers and Seals.

Lubricate Tube Cap Seal “O” Ring with a few drops of oil when replacing Powerlets.

Wipe Rifle with light oil to prevent staining and rusting as caused by handling or storage.

Do NOT Expose charged Gun or Powerlets to excessive heat.

It is not necessary to clean the Barrel of this Rifle, but an occasional light oiling is recommended to prevent rusting. Warranty:

The Crosman Model 400 Rifle is fully guaranteed against defective materials or workmanship for ninety (90) days from date of purchase. Hold warranty card and send it with the gun to an Authorized Crosman service Station when Repair Service is needed.

Replacement Powerlets in a convenient pocket size, 6 pack, Crosman Super Pells and Crosman Targets can be obtained at Sporting goods dealers everywhere.
