1. Onthe base,plugthe ACpower adaptor cord into the powerjack onthe back ofthe baseandthe other into an electricaloutlet.

CAUTION:To reduce risk of personal injury, fire, or damage useonly the 5-2823 (base} and 5-2824 (handset} power adaptorslisted in the user's guide. These power adaptors are intended tobe correctly orientated in a vertical or floor mount position.

On the handset charge cradle, plug the ACpower adaptor cord into the powerjack on the back of the cradle and the other into an electrical outlet.

NOTE: The charge indicator on the handset charge cradle turns onto indicate the handset battery is charging

Connectingthe TelephoneLineOnthebase,plugoneendofthestraighttelephonelinecordintothejackonthebackofthebaseandtheotherendintoamodularwalltelephonejack.Connectingthe CordedHandset1. Connectoneendofthecoiledhandsetcordtothejackonthesideofthebase.2. Connecttheotherendofthecoiledcordtothejackonthehandset,thenplace

thehandsetinthebasecradle.Setting the Ringer VolumeYoumay control the ringervolumelevelwith the switch locatedon the backof thebase.ll_ = ringer tone will be loud

Wall Mounting the BaseThebaseis packagedwith the pedestalattached in desktopmode.Tomount thebaseon the wall:

1. Turnthe baseover and removethe pedestal.

2. Rotatethe pedestala half turn, and align it with the bottom of the base.

B. Attach the pedestalby first insertingthe tabs on the pedestalinto the slotson thebottom of the base,and then push the pedestaldown until it snapsinto place.

/4. Plugthe telephonelinecord into thejack markedPHONELINEon the backof thebaseand the other endinto a modular phonejack.

5. Feedthe telephonelinecord and ACpower adaptor cord through the groovesonthe pedestalto allow the unit to rest flat against the wall.

6. Slipthe mounting holesonthe pedestaloverthe wall plate postsandfirmly slidethe unit into place.(Wallplate not included.)

7. Removethe handsethook, turn it upsidedown,and put it back in the slot. Youneedto dothis so the corded handsetdoesn'tfall out of the base.

8. Placethe corded handset in the basecradle.

Installing the Handset BatteryNOTE:You must connect the handset battery before using thecordless handsets.

CAUTION:To reduce the risk of fire or personal injury, only usethe Thomson Inc. approved Nickel-Metal Hydride battery model5-2826, which is compatible with this unit.

1. Locatebattery and battery doorwhich are packagedtogether insidea plastic bagand areseparatefrom the handset.

2. Locatethe battery compartment on the backof the handset.

B. Plugthe battery packcord into the jack insidethe compartment.

NOTE:To ensure proper battery installation, the connector is keyedand can be inserted only one way.

Selecting the LanguageChoose the screen display language.

1. Press the phone menu/ok button. The screen displays LANGUAGE.

2. Press the phone menu/ok button again.

3. Press the A or ,, button to select the desired language.

8. Press the phone menu/ok button to confirm the setting.

5. Press the exit button to return to idle mode.

Area Code

1. Press the phone menu/ok button.

2. Press the ,, or ,, button to select AREA CODEand press the phone menu/okbutton again.

3. Enter the area code.

4. Press the phone menu/ok button to confirm the setting.

5. Press the exit button to return to idle mode.

LCD Contrast

There are 8 levels available for selection. The default setting is level 7.

1. Press the phone menu/ok button.

2. Press the ,, or ,, button to select CONTRASTand press the phone menu/okbutton again.

3. Press the A or ,, button to select the desired contrast level.

Three Way Conference CallAfter receivinganexternal call, it ispossibleto includea secondhandset in theconversation.

Call Transfer

Outgoing AnnouncementYou can record 2 different outgoing announcements: A1 inviting your caller to leave amessage or A2 asking your caller to call back later.

Outgoing Announcement A1 is played when Announce Only mode is OFF.Callerscan leave a message in this mode. Your answering system is preset with AnnounceOnly set to OFF,allowing callers to leave a message.

Outgoing Announcement A2 is played when Announce Only mode is ON. Callerscannot leave a message in this mode.

If you do not record your own announcements, your answering system will play apre-programmed message to your callers:

AI: "Please leave your message after the tone."

A2:"1 am sorry I am not available. Please call back later."

Announce Only ON/OFF1. Press the ans. menu button repeatedly until the system announces "Announce

Only is ON (or OFF)".

2. Press the _ skip or 14repeat button to switch between ON and OFF.

3. Press the ans. menu button to confirm your setting.

Recording an AnnouncementHake sure the Announce Only is set to OFF. For best results when recording,

you should be about nine inches from the microphone, and eliminate as muchbackground noise as possible.

1. Press the ans. menu button repeatedly until the system announces"Announcement One." The message indicator displays A1.

2. Press the ){ skip or 14repeat button. The system announces "Now Recording".Begin speaking after the beep.

NOTE: Maximum recording time is 60 seconds, announcement mustbe at least 3 seconds in length.
