Doing our bit - Sustainability at the ACTS ConferenceACTS and its members work hard to promote and operate according to sustainability principles. As such we want to make our event as ‘green’ as possible and ask that all delegates read this information.

• ACTS will be offsetting the activities from the conference via our carbon offset sponsors – Climate Friendly. This will include the whole event, from pre‐event administration, travel of delegates, organisers and staff, accommodation, conference dinner, the field trip and the activities under-taken at the venue during the 3 days.

• All conference communications and program material, where possible, have been sent by email and available on the internet to minimise paper usage and waste.

• All printed materials at the conference and Awards dinner, where possible, will be double sided on 100% recycled paper or sustainable forest certified.

The Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre strives for sustainability in it’s operations and features:

• EarthCheck Silver & Green Table accreditation• A range of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle initatives• Location in the heart of Brisbane, with easy access to public transport• Partnership with Foodbank, Australia’s largest hunger relief organisation• Committment to sustainable cleaning product use• The very best of fresh, seasonal produce from local suppliers• Coffee from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms• A written Corporate Social Responsibility policy• Controled use of lighting and air-conditioning• Dedicated bike racks around the facility

• The Green Gown Awards Australasia trophies have been made using 100% recycled glass by an Australian glass artist. Each Award is unique in its design and manufacture. The winner’s certificates and brochures have been printed on 100% recycled handmade paper made from elephant dung and office waste paper. This unique paper contributes to a sustainable industry in Sri Lanka. It’s production directly contrib-utes to villager’s income and a percentage of the profits go to the Millennium Elephant Foundation.

• Delegate badges and lanyards are reusable so please return them at the end of the conference.

• No delegate bags will be given out at the event to minimise waste. Delegates are encouraged to bring their own bag, paper and pens.

• All the food and refreshments at the conference and Awards dinner will be sourced as ethically and as locally as possible. All catering, where appropriate, will be served on non disposable crockery, glassware and cutlery.

• We encourage you to use public transport as much as possible. The Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre is located in the heart of Brisbane, and is easily accessible by foot or public transport.

• Delegates are encouraged to take regular breaks during the event and remain hydrated (no bottled water will be provided). Refreshments will be provided throughout the event for your wellbeing.
