Merrtt fel protestOn Saturday, Nov. 24, the Merrittoni-ans
Against Gas Price Fixing! group ishosting their 2nd protest against
the highfuel prices in Merritt. The peacefulprotest will be held at
Gasoline Alley onDewolf Way, beginning at 11am. Theywill have some
extra signs, but feel freeto bring our own as well as friends,kids,
dogs, and best cheers & smiles.
Merritt gas prices remained at $1.319for over a year, until the
first protest onNov. 8, that saw prices drop as low as$1.249.
Residents agree that prices must bedropped to match Kamloops
prices, andare willing to protest until this is reached.For many,
the difference between Merritt($1.249) and Kamloops ($1.094)
justifiesregular trips to Kamloops to fill their tanks
and other routine shopping. With compet-itive fuel prices,
residents wont feel theneed to leave town to fuel up, and willkeep

Nova Scota womanassalted b spose
On November 17th, Merritt RCMP re-sponded to a domestic violence
call at amotel in the 3500 Block of Voght St. Thevictim, a 38 year
old woman from NovaScotia, reported that she had been as-saulted by
her 36-year old boyfriend. Shewas choked with a laptop charging
cord,and not allowed to leave the motel. How-ever, she managed to
escape and soughthelp by calling police. The woman suf-fered
injuries to her arms, face, and neck.
She is now safe.Police have charged Craig Fergusonwith: Forcible
confinement; assault witha weapon; and assault & uttering
threats.A warrant has been issued for Craig Fer-guson and police
believe that he may still
be in the Merritt area, although he isaware that they are
looking for him andis likely evading police. If you have anyinfo,

New names for TNRD Areas M & NWhile they still need the
approval of the provincial govt, TNRD directors decided
on name changes to 3 electoral areas, including our Area M &
N. The new names willmake it easier to identify the areas with a
descriptor (except the third area, Area L,whose name will now be
'Grasslands' it's Chase, by the way.)
TNRD directors approved a recommendation to add the title
'Beautiful Nicola Val-ley North' to Electoral Area M, and Beautiful
Nicola Valley South to ElectoralArea N. The 'Beautiful' refers to
the iconic 1930s song Beautiful Nicola Valley performed
by Evan Kemp and His Trailriders.
