IMMUNIZATIONS
THE CONVERSATION

S THE THE IMPORTANCE OF PREVENTIVE SERVICES
Vaccinating children and young adults may be the single most important health-promoting intervention we per form as health care providers. Therecommended vaccines and their schedule given are the results of years of scientific study. (www.immunize.org)
Vaccine-preventable disease levels are at, or near, record lows. Even though most infants and toddlers have received all recommended vaccines by age 2, many under-immunized children remain, leaving the potential for outbreaks of disease. (cdc.org)
Immunizations are NOT just for kids! Whether a young adult, middle-aged adult, or senior citizen, we ALL need immunizations to keep us healthy. Transitioning to adulthood brings us into a new world, bringing a different level of responsibility that we carry for life, including the need to help protect our loved ones more than ever. (Centers for Disease Control, cdc.org)

LAB TESTING
THE IMPORTANCE OF PREVENTIVE SERVICES
REASONS FORROUTINEThe value of laboratory testing to screen for certain diseases is an integral part of your health care plan. Through routine laboratory screening tests, a diagnosis can be made and a treatment plan can be developed to help manage certain problems, before they become an issue.
Routine laboratory testing is also important to manage current or chronic diseases. The provider will be able to monitor your disease state and
adjust your treatment plan, if needed.
Some examples of laboratory testing you may need include: cholesterol testing for screening or patients with Coronary Artery Disease, HgbA1c testing for patients with diabetes, etc.
Check with your provider for the lab tests that are recommended for you!

COLONOSCOPY
Colorectal cancer is the third most commonlydiagnosed cancer and the second leading cause of cancerdeath in the United States. Over two-thirds of patients arenot diagnosed until the disease has advanced, even thoughstudies prove that colorectal cancer can be reduced byearly detection and treatment.(American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org)
If you act early, you have a good chance of preventingcolorectal cancer or finding it when it can be treated more easily. If your doctor finds polyps inside your colon during testing, these growths can be removed before they become cancer. If you find out you have cancer when you are tested, you can take steps to treat it right away.

NO BONESABOUT ITA bone density test determines if you haveosteoporosis – a disease that means your bones areweak and more likely to break. In the past, osteoporosiscould only be detected after you broke a bone.
There are no signs or symptoms of osteoporosis. You might not know you have the disease until you break a bone. That’s why it’s so important to get a bonedensity test to measure your bone strength, before yourbones become weak.
