English Television: Spectrum SportsNet with Joe Tutino and Cobi Jones Spanish Television: Spectrum Deportes with Martin Zuniga and Pablo Jacobo English Radio: LAGalaxy.com Spanish Radio: KWKW ESPN 1330 with Armando Aguayo (play-by-play) and Rolando Gonzalez (analyst) GALAXY INJURY REPORT: Out: Robbie Rogers (left ankle), Sebastian Lletget (foot), Clement Diop (hip) THE MATCH: The LA Galaxy are back at StubHub Center for the second of a three-game spring home stand in Los Angeles. They take on Philadelphia Union on Saturday, April 29 at StubHub Center in the Galaxy’s 8th match of the season. The game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live on Spectrum SportsNet. It's hard to imagine two teams that will be more desperate for a win this weekend than the LA Galaxy and the Philadelphia Union. The Union are in more dire straits, having failed to win a game since last August. Last week's 3-3 draw with the Montreal Impact may have been the most brutal result of their 15-match winless streak as Philly blew a 3-0 lead at home to remain the last MLS club without a victory this season. The Galaxy still have plenty of offensive firepower with newcomer Romain Alessandrini continuing to look like one of the league's top midfielders and playing behind the dynamic striker duo of Gyasi Zardes and Giovani dos Santos. LA GALAXY NOTES:

Romain Alessandrini has tallied four goals and two assists in seven games in a Galaxy shirt.

Prior to this match, Jermaine Jones scored or assisted in three consecutive games. He totals one goal and two assists for the midfielder on the season.

Alessandrini, Steres and Pedro are the only players to have started each game for the Galaxy in 2017.

LA GALAXY II ROLLED OUT YOUNGEST STARTING XI IN CLUB HISTORY THIS WEEKEND: Over the weekend, LA Galaxy II trotted out its youngest starting lineup in club history for the team’s 1-1 draw against Orange County SC on Saturday, April 22. 10 players 20-years-old or younger took the field for Los Dos for the opening whistle, making for a starting XI that with an average

age of only 19 in the team’s fifth match of the season. Four of those players – Ian Lonergan, Jorge Hernandez, Jonathan Estrada, Alex Juarez – are current members of the Galaxy Academy. Additional Academy reinforcements Zico Bailey (16) and Jake Arteaga (17) entered the match in the second half. In four years since the club’s inception in 2014, Los Dos’ Starting XI’s have trended younger and younger. LA Galaxy II took the field for the first time in 2014 with an average age of 22.6. In this season’s home opener, the club averaged an age of 21. After the game Saturday, LA Galaxy II Head Coach Mike Muñoz commented on the team’s youth. “My message is going to stay consistent: the kids can play. They just need to be inserted in the right moments. They need to continue to be protected, but they showed tonight, regardless of who the opponent is or what is stage is all about, it’s no problem. I’m very proud of them.” Jaime Villarreal and Hugo Arellano, two former Galaxy II and Academy starlets, are perfect examples of what happens when given minutes at a young age with Los Dos. After excelling in both levels of LA Galaxy’s developmental system, the two signed MLS contracts this offseason. Arellano inked his contact at the age of 19, Villarreal at the age of 21. Both former pupils of Muñoz, Arellano, Villarreal and other Galaxy II graduates now train with the likes of Giovani dos Santos, Romain Alessandrini and Jelle Van Damme day in and day out. LA Galaxy II return to action on Saturday, May 6 against Orange County SC at Orange County Great Park Stadium. The match kicks off at 5:00 p.m. and will be broadcast live on LAGalaxy.com/2. NEXT UP: LA Galaxy are back at StubHub Center to take on Chicago Fire at 7:30 p.m. PT on Saturday, May 6 (Spectrum SportsNet, Spectrum Deportes).

LA Galaxy Postgame Quote Sheet: LA Galaxy 0, Seattle Sounders FC 3

LA Galaxy Postgame Quote Sheet LA Galaxy 0, Seattle Sounders FC 3 Sunday, April 23, 2017 2017 MLS Regular Season StubHub Center – Los Angeles, Calif. LA GALAXY HEAD COACH CURT ONALFO His thoughts on the performance: “Dismal, terrible first half. Better second half but not good enough.” On substituting Emmanuel Boateng out of the game in the first half: “Unfortunately he took the sacrifice, but we were just getting overrun and overloaded in the midfield. We were defending the entire half, so we had to make a change where we added another midfielder. It actually immediately worked, we began to gain momentum then we got scored on off the counter. If we didn’t give that goal away, I think everything would have changed.” On the team’s lack of energy in the first half: “I think it was more of their ability to possess the ball and move it. They had a very good attacking players with Dempsey and Lodeiro and Morris just pins you back because he’s so fast. Bruin came into the team and did a good job. They just outnumbered us, so we were basically defending the entire time. We expended a lot of energy which makes it difficult. And when we won the ball, our initial pass wasn’t good enough. We too often threw it away, and the times we did connect, we didn’t hold the ball up, so we ended up defending more. We really shot ourselves in the foot big time. I do have to say, though, that the strength of character in the second half to keep pushing….I thought that if we could have snuck a goal in the 51st minute when Giovani had a chance…momentum shifts a little bit. The guys kept fighting and pushing until the final whistle. On Seattle’s success attacking the left side of the field: “They just overloaded. Lodeiro has a free role and their left back gets forward really well. With Morris’ speed on that side of the field, it was a very difficult thing to deal with. We just didn’t do a good job with defending that part of the field.”

Page 15: MLS Game Guide · 38 Bradford Jamieson FW 6-3 165 10/18/1996 Los Angeles, CA 4 0 0 0 16 6 1 1 40 Raul Mendiola MF 5-8 150 05/18/1994 Ciudad Juarez, Mexico 0 0 0 0 9 5 0 0 HEAD COACH

LA GALAXY DEFENDER JELLE VAN DAMME On how the team needs to respond: “I think everybody is disappointed. I think there is nothing much to say about it, I think we let down ourselves. I think we only played 45 minutes today. I think the first half was way too sloppy, everybody was too sloppy. We didn’t win our one-on-ones, we didn’t win our second balls. I don’t really have an explanation for it, because I felt we were ready for it.” On what caused the result: “I think we started well, first 10 minutes. Then they got a few corners and suddenly we dropped too much and at one point we were defending for 15 or 20 minutes and when we got out, our passing wasn’t good enough to hold the ball. Then you’re constantly under pressure, so I think we didn’t get out first half because the game was too sloppy going both ways. It’s a good team and they played out the game well, in the first half, and they were very efficient.” On whether it was execution or planning: “I think it’s about the execution. We can only blame ourselves. We had too many bad passes, we didn’t win any second balls, any 1v1s, so we can only blame ourselves, that’s it.” LA GALAXY MIDFIELDER ROMAIN ALESSANDRINI On how the team has to respond after today’s loss: “It’s the worst game of the LA Galaxy. The first half was very bad, and Seattle played good. In the second half we tried to give everything to score a goal and come back, but it was a bad afternoon for the LA Galaxy but we need to give more next week.” On whether Seattle outfought the Galaxy in the first half: “I think we lacked aggression, that’s why we took three goals in the first half and we have no excuse. It was very bad.” On what the Galaxy has to work on: “We have to give more. We have to give more energy, be more aggressive. In the first half we made a lot of mistakes. I don’t understand because I think everybody is focused on winning, and we have to play together, we have to be compact. It’s a bad start for us, but the season is very long so we have to speak, we have to work hard and I hope, we have to win the next two games at home.” On what he means about the team having to speak more: “I can’t explain what has happened this afternoon. It’s a bad thing for everybody for the coaches, the staff and the players. It’s the beginning. I need to speak with my teammates, I need to speak with the coach and we need to be together. It’s the most important.” LA GALAXY GOALKEEPER BRIAN ROWE On if Seattle’s pressure and energy was too much for the Galaxy to handle: “I wouldn’t necessarily agree with that. We just weren’t on the same page out there. We weren’t able to keep possession of the ball or able to move it. What they did to us in the first half was what we’re usually able to do to other teams. That’s kind of our game plan to keep possession, make teams chase and tire them out on a big field. But we were defending the entire first half.” On if Seattle succeeded because they won the tactical battle “It wasn’t the day for us in the first half I would say. We made them look good. It’s one that, in the first half, they dominated.” On why they were on the wrong page: “We were just off for today. I think all around the field there were - I can raise my hand and I’m sure other guys will - just little passes here or there defensively just losing the ball in a bad spot and shape wise we were getting countered…just little things that add up to us having to run back and defend for long stretches.”

Philadelphia Union Head Coach Jim Curtin

On the week...

"Just to reflect back on the game [against Montreal], obviously, a good start. When you go back and watch the tape, [it was] not our best first half of soccer this year in terms of keeping the ball, but probably our best in terms of competing, fighting and win-ning individual battles. To get a three-goal lead was a positive; to not be able to hold on -- I thought the goal before [halftime] hurt by [Ignacio Piatti] -- still, at that point, we should have the ability to get our first win. We don't do it. It's very challenging right now, obviously. We've mentioned that a number of times, but the group still remains together, they continue to work. It's not for a lack of effort. Still getting little plays cleaned up in front of both goals, something that we'll continue to work on as we work toward Los Angeles, a very dangerous team now that is coming off of a 3-0 loss at home, so they'll be angry. It won't get any easier for us. At the same time, we have to work on some things defensively, we have to work on some things in our attack and we'll go out to LA fighting to get that first win."

On conversations around the team the last few days..

"It's all of us, from Earnie [Stewart], to the technical staff, to the players, we've talked through it. Everybody still gets along, everybody is still fighting together and working. It's not just the defenders, or just the midfielders, just the attackers, just the coaches, it's everybody raising their level a little bit. I'm most devastated for the players; from my perspective, I see how hard they work each and every week. You just want them to get that feeling of a win again. That can be contagious; it gives confi-dence, it makes the group a little bit stronger. A lot of adversity has come upon this team this year and we're still waiting for that first breakthrough. You can sense the frustration from [the play-ers], the frustration from the staff. We still remain focused on the same goal, which is to turn this thing around."
