    CREW SC ACQUIRES PORTUGUESE MIDFIELDER PEDRO SANTOS AS A DESIGNATED PLAYERColumbus Crew SC announced on Tuesday that it had acquired 29-year-old Portuguese midfielder Pedro Santos (pronounced: Sahn-toes), who joined Crew SC as a Designated Player via a Discovery Signing. Santos brings 10 years of professional experience to the Black & Gold, which includes 13 appearances in Europa League matches. Santos joins Crew SC from Sporting Clube de Braga of Pri-meira Liga, Portugal’s First Division. Along with Federico Higuain and Jonathan Mensah, Crew SC now has the maximum-permitted three Designated Players on its roster with Santos becoming Crew SC’s sixth-ever Designated Player. This marks the first time in club history that the Black & Gold have had three Designated Players on their roster at the same time and the Santos transaction represents the club’s largest acquisition transfer fee in club history. Following his first training session on Tuesday, Santos was asked on whether he can still make an impact with only 10 matches remaining in the MLS regular season and he gave the following quote: “Yes, I think I can still help.
