JANUARY 20, 2014 “IT’S ALL IN THE GAME!!”
Social Skills Workshop Many kids with ASD, ADHD and general social skill deficits say that they don't like playing games. We think this is most likely due to the lack of coping strategies and executive function skills. Join us Monday, January 20, 2014 from 9 to 12 for our "It's All In the Game" social skills workshop. Using a variety of classic games we will provide an environment for kids to learn coping strategies and strengthen such executive functions as emotional regulation, flexibility, goal oriented persistence, sustained attention, working memory, and meta-cognition. We also think it is important to learn to be "part of a group". Games will include Battleship, Chinese Checkers, UNO, Jenga and other age appropriate games for older elementary and middle school age participants. For younger elementary age participants, games will include Disney Apples to Apples, Zingo!, and Connect 4.
