MKUH Surgical Junior Doctors Teaching Programme Course Information

Course date: 17th February 2017

Venue: Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Trust Attendance: 10 Delegates

This Surgical Junior Doctors Teaching Programme is designed over the course of 6 months to equip junior doctors on the surgical firm with the necessary knowledge to assess and manage the acutely unwell surgical patient. These sessions will be predominantly delivered on a fortnightly basis through the aid of small group interactive sessions and tutorials throughout the surgical rotation.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES FOR JUNIOR DOCTORS

• To equip junior doctors on the surgical firm with the necessary knowledge to assess and manage the acute surgical patient.

• To be able to understand the initial management and assessment of the trauma patient in accordance to the ATLS principles and guidelines.

• To understand the underlying pathophysiology of surgical disorders

• To be able to understand the indications for assessment, performing investigations and surgical/radiological intervention of patients presenting in the acute setting.

• Continuous improvement of professional and clinical skills/acumen.

• To equip junior doctors with the necessary practical skills required to of a surgical FY1.

Doctors Academy is a UK-based International Non-Profit Organisation comprising of doctors, dentists and scientists that undertakes a diverse range of educational activities globally.
