❏ Phase 1 - Accounts for student learning in either an in-person or virtual learning environment based on student selection made during spring 2021. Masks are optional for fully vaccinated students and staff in secondary schools. Masks are required for students and staff in elementary schools and combined schools (i.e., grades PreK-8, grades 3-8).

❏ *Phase 2 - Accounts for student learning in either an in-person or virtual learning environment based on student selection made during spring 2021. Masks are required for all students and staff for in-person learning.

❏ Phase 3 - School and/or community metrics dictate that all teaching and learning is provided in a virtual environment for all students as determined by CDC and VDH guidance.

*Recommended start phase for the 2021-2022 school year. Guidelines for all phases will be reevaluated by no later

than the end of the first marking period.

❏ Elementary students and schools with students in combined grades (i.e., PreK-8, 3-8) returning to in-person learning under a traditional bell schedule will maintain physical distancing of at least 3 feet, to the greatest extent possible. Students and staff will be required to wear masks.

❏ Secondary students (6-12) returning to in-person learning under a traditional bell schedule will maintain physical distancing of at least 3 feet, to the greatest extent possible. The wearing of masks will be optional for fully vaccinated students and staff.

❏ Those students (K-12) who requested virtual learning will be served through Virtual Virginia’s online program.

❏ All students returning to in-person learning under a traditional bell schedule will maintain physical distancing of at least 3 feet, to the greatest extent possible. Masks will be required for all students and staff.

❏ Those students (K-12) who requested virtual learning prior to the start of the school year through the division’s virtual learning application process will continue to be served through Virtual Virginia.

❏ Spacing/Distancing❏ CDC recommends 3 feet of distance, to the greatest extent

possible. When 3 feet of distance is not possible, all other mitigation strategies should be implemented.

❏ Continue to utilize desk shields and shields in offices ❏ Continue scheduled use of bathrooms❏ Use of playground equipment is permissible

❏ If activities result in students being closer than 3 feet, masks should be worn

❏ Distance of at least 3 feet between students during lunch❏ Continue use of desk shields if spacing represents a

challenge and consider non-cafeteria spaces for lunch

wiping down of desks and areas (Note: no significant transmission of COVID on surfaces, except if active coughing is present)

❏ Staff may congregate in break rooms but should still keep distance; if not eating, masks should be worn

Summer Cleaning Summer Program Cleaning – All school spaces that are being utilized this summer are thoroughly cleaned nightly according to the HCS enhanced cleaning protocols. Summer Cleaning – Summer cleaning of school buildings is underway. This process includes, but is not limited to: ❏ Cleaning and waxing of floors ❏ Cleaning of desks, tables, and chairs ❏ Dusting of light fixtures and elevated surfaces ❏ Shampooing of carpets❏ Cleaning of windows and window sills ❏ Disinfecting of restrooms and locker rooms

Enhanced Fall Cleaning

❏ Hampton City Schools will continue to utilize “enhanced” cleaning protocols for the 2021/2022 school year.

❏ Each custodial service provider will conduct enhanced cleaning training for all custodial personnel prior to the start of the school year.

❏ Enhanced Cleaning Protocols will include:❏ Utilizing hospital-grade sanitizers ❏ Wiping down of frequent touch points ❏ Cleaning/sanitizing nightly of student desks and tables ❏ Spraying the entire school building nightly with the

electrostatic sprayers

Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)Summer PPE Supplies:All summer schools sites have been equipped with the necessary personal protection and sanitizing equipment to ensure the safety of all occupants. 2021/2022 School Year PPE Supplies: Measures have been taken to ensure that HCS buildings and transportation vehicles have necessary sanitation equipment and PPE supplies to protect occupants, and thoroughly clean and sanitize vehicles and building spaces nightly.
