Mistral SUP boards are designed in different categories for different disciplines. Whether surfing the ocean’s waves or

fun fOR AllThe best thing about SUP is that it is a social sport, offering endless fun paddling together with friends or family. No one need be left out. Anyone, whether athletic or not, can do it, young or old.

Moreover, SUP is a great workout while having fun and making new friends. It connects people and gives enjoyment to all involved, under all conditions, be it cold or warm weather or waters, on lakes, rivers or on the ocean. No wonder it has in recent years, been the fastest growing water sport in the world. It really is a worldwide phenomenon.

During the 80s and 90s, Mistral pioneered inflatable windsurfing boards, which sold successfully in extreme numbers. In 1989, Mistral launched the ‘Windglider’ labeling it a ‘Multi Purpose Watercraft’. During 2011 Mistral pioneered the production of One Design Class iSUP boards, which set a global market standard.

In 2007 we developed the Mistral Pacifico SUP boards and launched the “2 in 1” fun concept, combining windsurfing and stand up paddle boarding. Today all our hard boards, except for our race boards, offer this option, giving people more ways to have fun with our boards.

HARD BOARDSCONSTRUCTION

MiSTRaL CaRBOn LiGhT wEiGhT TEChnOLOGYA combination of an ultra light carbon weave and original wood

wrapped around a light density styrofoam core. The carbon is type

T700 which is regarded as top quality. This construction is the first

real performance technology to be introduced to the world of

paddle boarding. The challenge with Carbon is to allow some flex

and to have a high dynamic stability. You have never paddled any

race boards which are lighter and faster.

whY aRE MiSTRaL RaCE BOaRdS SO LiGhT? The technology behind our race boards is a special molding

technique. Most of the race boards in the market are hand or

machine shaped and hand laminated. Not the Mistral boards.

They come out an exact mold so that each board is completely

identical. On top of it, the molding process with high pressure

guarantees that only the resin is in the construction, which is

necessary to have a very strong laminate. During the molding

process the excess epoxy resin is pressed out of the mould, while in

the hand-layup it stays inside which makes the board extra heavy.

The construction is built in a mold which has the advantage that all

boards are identical. Three layers of fiberglass cloth are wrapped around

the styrofoam core in an epoxy resin matrix to form an inner sandwich

wall in combination with strong and durable 1.0 mm original wood

including an extra layer of wood on the deck. The core materials are

then ‘sandwiched‘ into the board during the molding process. The

unique properties of wood are its natural rigidity, superior resistance to

compression and higher energy absorption compared to other

materials.

MaxiMUM dURaBiLiTY and VaLUEWhen the wood is molded together with the fiberglass cloth and

epoxy resin, a very hard outer layer is created that gives the board a

very durable ‘shell’. Because of the extra strength the wood gives the

board, the boards are very durable and a lighter EPS foam can be used

which makes the boards extremely light. This double wood sandwich

construction is an expensive addition to add value to the boards and

make them last longer.

ThE LiGhTEST BOaRdS in ThE MaRKETThe advantages of this technoloy are that the boards are all light

weights with the highest dynamic shape stability and flex.

For the light weight FULL CARBON Technology Mistral is using T700 Carbon and certain areas such

as deck and standing area are re-inforced with a 2nd layer of original wood. This allowes for a dramatic

reduction in weight. The M2 12‘6“ with 243 L Volume has an average weight of 8.6 to 8.8 kg,

whereas the M2 14‘0“ with 263L Volume has an average weight of 9.1 to 9.3 kg.

Double re-inforced side walls protect the rails and guarantee good lenghth stability.

Mistral is using for its hard boards a compression molded sandwich

technology. Certain areas such as the rails and the deck are supported with

multi-axial reinforcements.

The EVA deckpad has a different thickness in the middle area. In the standing area, the surface is sanded and soft for maximum comfort. At the front, the middle and backwards there is a diamond cut for maximum grip of the feet.

The side walls outside are covered with high quality PVC rail savers with an anti scratch surface and great impact resistance for more durability.

The side walls of the board inside are extra reinforced and very resistant thanks to the full double wood construction and the extra fiberglass layers.

Underneath the painted surface, each single Mistral board is completely coverd with a 1 mm high class original wood. Moreover, the complete deck has a 2nd layer of wood for more sturdiness. The wood is like a spring and prevents a surface damage through hard impact.

The styrofoam core is wrapped around with 3 layers of fiberglass cloth underneath the wood.

Each Mistral board (except Take Off & Diamond Head Series) has inserts for a bungee cord set. This set incl. washer and screws will be supplied with the board.

All Mistral hard boards are equipped with an EVA ledge handle for superb

handling.

The heart of the construction is the double wood compression sandwich

technology. Double wood guarantees not only stiffness but also flexibility.

Boards with this construction are among the lightest in the market.

Because of the indestructible outer skin Mistral can use a superlight

styrofoam core.

BERMUda 10‘7“For more advanced paddlers, a great Cruiser, Wave and All Round

board. This board provides the perfect combination of ease of

paddling, maneuverability and stability. The flat deck curve gives

the rider confidence when paddling. You can really rip with this

board, also in the bigger waves.

ShaPEThis tolerant all-water shape will give you the ability to go out no

matter what and is forgiving to poor feet positioning or turning

techniques. The shape is conceived to provide the best balanced

feeling when paddling on flat water and the ability to play in

small to medium sized waves. The Bermuda shapes have a slightly

thinner rail design to allow easier carving on surf and improved

maneuverability. All are great windsurf beginner boards!

STaBiLiTY EVa PadThe stability pads guarantee comfortable standing, because the

deck curvature becomes flat through the addition of the raised

pads. You can stand further on the outside and therefore have more

stability.

BERMUda 11‘9“A versatile, stable, beginner board! This is the ideal All Round

board for SUP rental centers and resorts. Its versatility extends to

being fun to use with or without the addition of a sail and whether

paddling or sailing, everyone can have fun with this board. Its long

waterline provides excellent glide for open ocean, river or lake use.

With Bermuda All Round boards, you will enjoy the SUP experience and have fun paddling with friends and family on a board which provides excellent price/ performance ratio for all-water use. These long-board styled SUPs, are ideal for beginners, flat-water cruising, and entry-level and advanced stand up paddle surfing. BERMUda 9‘9“The concave nose of all of our Bermuda boards creates added lift

when traveling over water and prevents nose-diving. The boards

are design inspired by the classic long-board form. With a slightly

narrower tail, this board glides well in the waves, allowing quicker,

faster turns. This is the board for riders searching for the more radical

feel of that of a shorter board, while keeping a feeling of stability.

REd dOT 10’9” - EVOLUTiOnThe Evolution 10’9” board is a high volume Cross model designed

for exploring lakes and flat waterways transitioning comfortably

between small and medium sized waves.

ultimate expedition board for long haul missions over flat-water,

At 265 lts, this board is popular with SUP schools, rental centers,

beginners and the more adventurous paddler.

MaLiBU 9‘8“This board is designed as a compact Cross Over board that will

satisfy the flat waterway enthusiast through to the most capable

of wave riders. From entry level riders to experts, from medium to

heavy weights and from small to big size waves. Ideally for

paddlers who like to trade flat water for surf on a regular basis.

Shape: very easy to paddle thanks to its large flat deck. This board

offers great stability, due to the generous width and volume of

the rails in the central area. To ensure maximum manoeuvrability

in the waves, a full rocker will allow you to carve without losing

speed and acceleration. The classic round pin tail, 50-50 round rails

and round v-bottom will help you to keep your drive smooth in the

curve. The concave nose will significantly improve your balance

His first National Stand Up Championship was in 2012, the Brazilian

Stand Up Paddle Surfing Championship in Ibiraquera SC, ranking

16th among 44 professionals. That same year at an event in

Itajai SC, he won the ocean race in the under 18 category.

Kainoa became an instant Champion of Surf Schools in Balneario

Camboriu and went to the 2012 World Tour, standing out among

the professionals at only 14 years of age!

In April 2013 Kainoa finished 2nd at an event in Gravata SC and in

the World Championship in 2013 in Ubatuba, Kainoa was 2nd in

professional trials with the second best score of the event.

He is now 15 years old still just at the beginning of a big stand up

paddling career and a successful partnership with Mistral.

kAINOA EDwARDO TEIxEIRA MISTRAL TEAM RIDER

Kainoa Edwardo Teixeira, was born on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. The son of Brazilian parents, he began to take his first steps in the surf at 2 years of age. As a 14 year old, he discovered stand up paddling, where he soon excelled and immediately loved this new sport.


CRUISER

VENTURA THe CRuiSeRThe Ventura is a very stable, fast cruising shape that is fantastic to ride in all water conditions. Thanks to its streamlined, wave piercing nose shape the Cruiser quickly accelerates with each paddle stroke taken. The Mistral ‘Axe Bow’ is an original Mistral design, which enables the board to cut like an axe through water. Together with flowing hull lines it simply makes the board glide faster and improves the ride.

ShaPEThe x-bow pierces through the water instead of pushing it aside,

which allows a very rapid and clean water flow when the board hits

the chops. It will also help you to get back fast and easily on the

board after a fall. Two leash plugs will allow you to choose where

to attach your leash; on the centre of the board for phone leashes

and quiet waters, or on the tail for surf leashes and open ocean

conditions. Its fantastic gliding capacity makes the big volume an

ideal cruiser board.

With its resp. 255 liters (12‘6“) and 315 liters (14‘0“) of volume,

these boards will float the heaviest weights and still feel

manoevrable and very stable on the water. The perfect cruiser that

suits anyone in all conditions.

The M2 full carbon race board is one of the lightest, fastest on the

by Olympic flat-water kayak racing craft. It is conically tailored,

measuring 66 cm at the top and only 60 cm at the bottom.

As a pioneering professional windsurfer and ocean paddler for the

past 35 years, I appreciate the value of quality of equipment and

the evolutionary processes required to bring about their creation.

When travelling the road least travelled in search of adventures,

I want quality of design and manufacture, dependability, attention

to detail and naturally performance. Historically, Mistral resonates

these philosophies at core level, making it for me an easy decision

to explore a relationship with their outstanding range of stand up

paddleboards.

Hard core, outrigger canoe racing and training at elite level in the

remotest areas of the Pacific Ocean, has served to sharpen my

instincts when making equipment choices, so that when it’s time

to hit the road like a stranger in a strange land, compromising on

equipment selection is not an option and it’s no different for my

stand up paddleboarding demands.

A six-month stay on the remote Fijian island of Leleuvia, made the

decision to pack an inflatable stand up paddleboard an obvious

choice and as a specialist open ocean downwind paddler, I settled

on the outstanding 14’.0“ M1 after trialing it against a variety of

other brands. The M1s performance, quality and lightness, made it

an ideal travel companion, making possible the perfect relationship

between body, board and blade deep in the heart of the South

Pacific Ocean, fuelled by daily South East Trade winds.

Mistral’s range of inflatable board designs, have taken into account

every possible level of ability and aspiration. Whether cruising the

remember, you always get what you pay for! As you trust the board

that keeps you afloat it is wise to do your home work first and make

sure the board you are buying is strong, very durable, well

constructed and a reliable travel companion.

Mistral inflatable SUP boards are made using heavy duty pvc,

hardened rubber materials and have multiple layers of urethane,

polymer and uv protection to create a protective barrier around a

drop stitch core.

connect both the top and bottom layers, creating a stronger link

that can withstand much higher pressures. Higher pressure make

for a more rigid floor, which can enhance paddling performance.

Mistral makes the difference - we didn’t just design a new Mistral Fitness SUP Board, we already went one step further and invented a Fitness SUP Board which can be used as an exercise machine.

We equipped the Mistral Kaliua 11‘5“ with the innovative Mistral

all-round elastic band system. This system allows you to fix super

strong rubber bands with hooks on multiple tie-down points on the

board. The tractive force of these elastic bands is easily adjustable

and allows you to gradually increase the intensity of your exercise,

which is an essential point in any comprehensive training program.

FiTnESS SYSTEM STRaP SETThese rubber bands 2,0 m x 3,6 m include heavy duty hooks to secure

bands onto the D-rings. Comfortable non-slip handles are available in

a set as an accessory. See page 68.

The Kailua Fit boards are exceptionally stable floating platforms

and water-loving yogis will embrace SUP yoga out on the water

as a practice that brings a sense of joyful freedom to an otherwise

earth-bound yoga practice.

The newly developed inflatable SUP Yoga Island is perfectly suited

to create a whole new yoga experience whilst on moving water

when you are in a class. The anchor also here prevents the Yoga

Island to drift away and each individual board can be tapped into

the Island so that you can have the yoga experience together.


SUP Yoga is a fun practice with some serious benefits. Doing yoga on a surface that is constantly in motion fires up your core muscles and strengthens muscles that aren't used in everyday practice. You feel the tiny muscles that don't activate on the ground whilst practicing on the water.

overboard. Falling is part of the experience and there is freedom in

fully embracing that. You let go of your expectations and judgment,

MiSTRaL BOw PaddLEThree important reasons for consideration by advanced and professional

SUP riders.

1) When using a ‘conventional’ single bend shaft, the (lower) stroke hand,

will only transfer power from the lower arm to the index and middle

finger at the catch phase of the stroke. Consequently, when the paddle

touches the water the rider loses driving power. When using a bow

shaft, the stroke hand will transfer greater power to the arm through

all fingers (the whole hand). This ensures the rider will not lose driving

power during the stroke.

2) Upper pressure. Unlike a conventional single bend shaft, the reverse

angle of the shaft of the bow paddle, gives the rider greater paddle

power potential because the upper hand is not so close to their body

while paddling. This means greater force can be delivered when

paddling and deeper strokes taken.

3) Forward blade entry and exit range. Because the blade can be placed

further toward the nose of the board, the resulting angle of the blade,

assists avoidance of one of the biggest errors in SUP, namely pulling

the blade beyond the level of the hip.

One of the most important SUP races worldwide isn’t called the ‘Battle of the Paddle’ for no reason. But what to use? Stiff or flexible shaft? Round or oval shaped shaft? Narrow blade or wide? Flat or dihedral blade face? Mistral provides the answers.

The perfect combination of technologically advanced materials and

enhanced user- friendly shapes. The paddle shaft can be described

as the motor of the paddle, whereby the physical force produced by

the rider at the shaft and at the grip, is converted into propulsion.

We produce the stiffest shafts for racers so as energy delivered at

the shaft and grip can be fully transferred to the blade.

With recreational paddling this is different. Since adults, teenagers

and children want to have fun during their day out on the water,

they are less concerned about maximum propulsion. Our fiberglass

shafts are therefore better suited for adventures, providing greater

flex in order to protect muscles and tendons.

Whereas carbon shafts are very stiff, fiberglass shafts provide

greater flex, producing a degree of ‘cushioning’ during the power

phase, which leads to a ‘softer’ paddle stroke, preferred by many

recreational paddlers.

THe BATTle Of THe pADDle

COnnECTORAll adjustable paddles from Mistral are equipped with a unique

connector, which operates via a twin-screw system. The attached

lever transfers the maximum clamping force directly onto the

inserted part, so that a very tight fit between insertion and shaft

is achieved.

ThE dihEdRaL-BLadEA blade has two important surfaces. The back of the blade is the

low-pressure side facing away from the paddler, the front of the

blade is the side which pressures the water and against which the

paddler pulls. A dihedral is a slightly raised ridge originating at

the neck of the blade, gently leveling off toward the mid-section.

During the paddle stroke, this encourages water to exit the edges

evenly, so it remains ‘balanced’ while completely flat paddles can

have a tendency to oscillate (flutter) left and right.

GOLd EdiTiOnThis super lightweight Gold Edition is designed

for the serious athlete who does not want to

be burdened with a heavy paddle during short

or long distance rides. Since paddle weight has

become increasingly important and in order to

meet the demand for lightweight paddles, we

have developed full carbon paddles.

However, we have made an even better one.

At just over 400 grams (0.97 lbs), the

Gold Edition is one of the lightest paddles on

the market. Since we kept the blade very thin,

it is reinforced with an ABS edge so that it is

protected against impact damage. The ABS

edge therefore ensures that both board and

blade are protected.

OVaL-ShaFTThe single piece paddles from Mistral are generally equipped with

an oval shaft. This increases shaft stiffness and has the advantage

of ensuring you maintain the blade in the correct position relative

to the board. In contrast to an oval shaft, a round shaft paddle can

slip off-axis within the hand.

adJUSTaBLE PaddLESThis versatile paddle is offered in both full carbon and a fiberglass

version. The latter is now strengthened with carbon composite.

In the full carbon version, the blade is also carbon (see structure

below right). The blade on the fiberglass version is constructed

from polypropylene with fiberglass armouring. Both feather light

blades have high impact strength and will not damage the rails of

your board.

ERGOnOMiC GRiPSWe tested many different shapes and have decided upon 2 basic

versions. The beautifully wedge shaped round grip, which adapts

to any hand size and the T-grip for smaller hands. There is also an

option for an EVA grip with a softer feel.

MiS023 KidS PFdLife jacket is designed for children. Safety colar keeps the head of a

child above water. Two horizontal straps allow adjustment around the

body and one strap running in between legs prevents the life jacket

from sliding up. Safety reflexive straps increase visibility. The life jacket

is equipped with safety plastic whistle.

MiS021 ThROw LinEWhen you get in a situation on a river especially

when you need to pull out a person from the

water throwline will come handy. This throwline

has 25 m long rope that floats coiled up

inside. Thanks to the bag’s construction the rope

unwinds easily when thrown.

MiS020 PaddLE LEaShThis little thing comes handy when you need

to put you paddle out of your hand and you

do not want to lose it. Inside the bag there is

twisted rubber cord. On the end of the cord

there is a velcro loop that can be wrapped

around the paddle bar. Hooking the bag to

part of your clothing you prevent the paddle

just float away.

MiS008 SPan GLOVESMade of extremely elastic neoprene the

gloves are designed to provide good feel in a

grip. The gloves offer good protection in a

cold weather and prevent blisters. Special

print on the palm has adhesive function and

prevents the paddle from twisting in your

hand. Adjusting strap around wrist keeps the

water from getting inside of the glove.

MiS006 hiGh ShOES MiS007 LOw ShOESLower shoes offer protection when walking on

the shore and keep your toes warm when

paddling. The circular finish seals the shoe around

the ankle so it does not slip off and prevents

excessive amounts of water from getting inside

the shoes when swimming. Higher version serves

to protect your ankles from breeze and cold water.

Two adjustment systems on the shoe allow you to

fit the shoes comfortably and prevent them from

slipping off in water. Split toe on both versions

helps to maintain a balance on the board.
