Page 5: MISTAR Report Writer

But it’s a bit different:Setting up a new report in Report

Writer has different layers than setting up a new query in Query Writer.◦View / Stored Procedure / “Data

Designer”◦Data Source◦Report

Report Writer reports must be shared with users – each report has its own permissions.

a Report Writer report.Demonstrate how to share a

Report Writer report to other users.

useless if you can’t see the reportYou won’t be able to share reports

with other MISTAR users unless you have permission to

So, in order to benefit from this portion of the presentation, you need 1) Permission to see the report2) Permission to share the report

Page 16: MISTAR Report Writer

Sharing a report requires going into “Report Writer” mode

Page 17: MISTAR Report Writer

Page 25: MISTAR Report Writer

Now that you’ve shared the report, what will the faculty you’ve shared it with be ableto do?

Page 26: MISTAR Report Writer

That depends on their role permissions in MISTARIf they don’t have special Report

Writer permissions, they will only be able to run the report.

If they have all of the “Q – Report Writer …” permissions, they will be able to copy the report, create reports, and share reports they “own” with other faculty.

If user has some of the “Q – Report Writer …” permissions, see handout.

Page 27: MISTAR Report Writer

Decisions, decisions…Each district will have to think

through who should have permission to manage reports (besides the MISTAR System Administrator).

Many districts may want one or two designated “Report Managers” who can modify and share reports to other users.
