From Italy to Ecuador

On November 4, 1922, the missionaries are in the novitiate of Nizza in Marsella with Mother General Catherine Daghero. It is the farewell lunch.On November 9 in the morning the missionaries intended to Ecuador, depart from Nizza to Marseille Mioletti accompanied by Mother Carolina Mioletti, 22 days after arriving in Panama and on Christmas Eve in 1922 arriving in Guayaquil and then turn to Chunchi his first mission where Sister Maria Troncatti be presented as Director in January 1923.2

Her Mission Field3

CHUNCHIWith the arrival of Sister Maria Troncatti, the love of Christ is spreading rapidly through her maternal presence, her great capacity for human contact, spiritual depth, her attitude of prayer and healing art in the body along with spirit.

Soon installs a pharmaceutical firm called kit. She cares for the sick and listless. They call it medical and is the only one in the place.Visiting families, evangelize, fix all kinds of problems: the love and secret counselor.Influence the formation of young people and the small school girls and parents who attend.Help, comforts and strengthens to the daily who come to the mission, achieving the big goal: healing the body and grow in faith in God who loves us.Combating poverty in a different way.Offer full hosting to the Salesians who are on their way to Cuenca, Guayaquil, Quito. MACAS

The founding missionaries arrive on December 4,1925. They are: Sr. Mara Troncatti, Sr. Dominga Barale y Sr. Carlota Nieto. Following the missionary setting they started their work.

Proclamation of the Gospel, catechesis reinforcement in the settler population.Action catechetical education in school and later in the parish.Creation of the boarding school, promotional for Shuar women.Contacts with people Shuar centers nearby.Visits and human promotion in families of Macas.Visit the Shuar centers on the other side of the Upano river since 1929.Permanent medical help.Stuggle against deadly epidemics periodic (smallpox, measles).On her return from Guayaquil (1938) helps with the reconstruction of the mission destroyed by a raging fire. She leads a life of quiet communion of spirit despite extreme poverty and hunger of that time.Supports all educational promotion.5

SEVILLA DON BOSCO

This foundation, aspired since time ago and dreamed in August and September in 1931, is made only in 1944 and from the beginning has been the hallmark of evangelization and education with Sr. Dominga Barale y Sr. Mara Troncatti. Their names rekindles memories of our Founder Don Bosco, recently canonized (April 1, 1934).Community animator.Transfer and organize the girls boarding school from July 28, 1944.Provision of resources to maintain the independent girls boarding Shuar of Macas.Frequent contact with the Shuar people for evangelism.Visits to families, human and catechesis. SUCUA

Founded as dependent of the Macas house. Wooden house, the best of those places, however has a deep poverty and internal there FMA live happily in an atmosphere of brotherhood and joyful missionary delivery.

It tries the first contacts with the Shuar people and settler in 1933.It is the first missionary community of FMA on October 1944. Sister Maria arrives in 1947 and 1948 will be the director of the mission.Sr. Maria stands in the Hospital Pius XII. She is who runs it. It offers accommodations to the Shuar families.Welcomes the missionaries.Organize courses for young Shuar and colonists nurses. Mantains training family and marriage preparation.

On the evening of her life, Sister Maria Troncatti, gives people with his continual prayer and sacrifice, his ability to listen, his real view of events and their desire to bring peace.8

Her tragic return to God seals her long life on earth and her silent work to evangelize and provided momentum to welfare and progress of the flourishing city of Sucua and achieve peace between the two peoples and settler Shuar.9
