Rise’ Nicholson “Learning. Faith. Respect. Safety. Concern. Involvement. Commitment.” According to our Teacher of the Year, Rise’ Nicholson, these qualities are at the heart of the educational excellence provided in our Catholic schools. “This is our life rope to parents—to assist them in raising their children in today’s challenging society.”

For the past decade, Mrs. Nicholson has been a teacher in the TCH English Department. She puts her whole heart and soul into whatever she is doing whether it is providing an intensive study of literature, grammar, and composition to her freshman students or preparing for her next triathlon. We are very proud of Mrs. Nicholson.

Jeff & Jan Delahoussaye “What do you need?” ….“How can I help?” That’s oftentimes the words heard from the smiling mouths of Jan Delahoussaye and her husband Jeff as they show their support for Teurlings Catholic High School. “We are honored and blessed to be able to provide a Catholic education for our children.” Their actions speak volumes. Whether it is providing meals for the faculty, co-chairing the silent auction, serving on hospitality committees, sponsoring the Rebel Open golf tournament, organizing the skeet shoot, greeting prospective parents at Open House, selling concessions, or whatever else is needed; Jan and Jeff are working shoulder to shoulder with others. The TCH Family is very grateful to the Delahoussayes.

Stadium Dedication Teurlings Catholic Blesses and Dedicates New Stadium This MorningLafayette, LA – Bishop Michael Jarrell, Teurlings Catholic Chancellor Hampton Davis, and Principal Michael Boyer welcomed faculty, staff, the entire student body, visiting clergy, alumni, parents, representatives of the Diocese of Lafayette and community leaders to the first event to ever be held at the new Rebel Stadium. The Blessing and Dedication Ceremony marked the official opening of a project that has been decades in the making.

“Congratulations to the Teurlings family. They have worked hard and should be very proud of this historic day,” said Bishop Michael Jarrell.

“Before we turn our attention to sports, we wanted to first turn attention to God and ask for His blessing on every student athlete that will play in this stadium,” added Chancellor Hampton Davis. “This is a tremendous day for our school and is the result of years of hard work. We are grateful for the support of our parents, alumni and community members that diligently put forth the effort required to build such a beautiful field.”

After the official blessing and dedication were performed by Bishop Jarrell and Chancellor Davis, a ceremonial ribbon cutting declared the stadium officially open and ready for hosting years of upcoming sports events for Teurlings.

“For decades, the word has always been ‘One day we will have a stadium at Teurlings.’ One day is finally today,” added Principal Mike Boyer. “This is emotional for the alumni, the coaches and our current student athletes, who have all waited for years for a field to call home right here on campus, and we couldn’t be more proud of what we have built here for generations of students to come.” Amy Jones – Jones Communications – 09/06/12

Stadium Inaugural GameTeurlings Stadium to Open Friday NightLafayette, LA – A decades-long dream for Teurlings Catholic is finally coming to fruition Friday night, when the Rebels will play their first game in their brand new stadium. The Rebels will host Alexandria Senior High on September 7, 2012 with kickoff set for 7:00pm. Recording artist and Teurlings graduate Gregg Martinez TCH’74, will be on hand to perform the National Anthem and former Rebel and Superbowl quarterback, Jake Delhomme TCH ‘93, will open the first game with the coin toss.

“This is a proud day for Teurlings and one that has been many years in the making,” said Mike Boyer, Principal of Teurlings Catholic High School. “We come together to begin a new tradition on a field that is now our home. It is an exciting day for our school and the continuation of a proud legacy of sportsmanship that is the foundation of our students and our athletic program.”

Teurlings Catholic has played at Clark Field since the inception of its football program in 1958. While the program has grown through the years, construction of a stadium on the Teurlings campus did not begin until 2011. Through the generous contributions of parents, alumni and the community, the new Teurlings Stadium will host its first athletic event Friday night and hold its official dedication and blessing Thursday morning.
