Our Backstory

The Traveling Candy BowlJerry Bauer, our founder and president, had one job he considered even more important than being the boss: Candy Man.

Every morning, Jerry would walk every inch of the 42,000 square foot factory, to personally deliver to every one of his 75 employees their favorite candy and deliver the joke of the day. This was his time to check in, to ask about family, to make sure each and every person felt included and special.

It was more than candy, it was commitment and care. Valley Screen lives that still today. A deep, personal investment in each member of the company.

And that is a sweet connection.

Our Passion

Our passion comes from overcoming obstacles to build a solid future-

TOGETHER!• 1967 – company bought by Jerry Bauer and has a handful of employees.

• 2007 – Best year in company history with 90% of business serving RV and Marine Industries.

• 2008 – Karen Barnett, Jerry’s daughter, buys the company. Recession hits and sales fall every single month.

• 2009 – Sales decrease 70% from 2007, half of staff laid off, hours cut, salaries cut, rotating layoffs for those

remaining. Everyone goes the extra mile to stay afloat.

• 2010 – Have to reinvent without any capital expenditures - or close, introduce new product line Olee Kids to new markets, start to rehire.

• 2011 – Sales improve, launch Olee Creative and OleeVue, provided wage increases.

• 2012 – 2015 – sales increasing year over year, credit line paid off, continuing to hire.
