Dear Contestant, Welcome to the 2020 Miss Ozark Rodeo Association Pageant. In this form you will find the application and rules and regulations for the pageant. We will be sending out a time schedule as soon as we know how many girls will be in the pageant. We will be judging the pageant on your horsemanship ability, appearance and personality, public speaking, and interview. Dear Contestant,

Welcome to the 2020 Miss Ozark Rodeo Association Pageant. In this form you will find the application and rules and regulations for the pageant. We will be sending out a time schedule as soon as we know how many girls will be in the pageant. We will be judging the pageant on your horsemanship ability, appearance and personality, public speaking, and interview.

The lucky lady who wins the title will reign over the rodeos for the 2020 season and will help with the 2021 queen pageant.

Judges will not be any ORA active members but will be knowledgeable in rodeo queen pageants. The Miss Division is for women ages 18-25. You must submit a copy of your birth certificate and we will base your age as of January 1, 2019.

The pageant will be held on October 11&12, 2019 in St. Robert, Mo.

Phases of Competition

HORSEMANSHIP: Horsemanship will include a set pattern. The horsemanship pattern will be available in the Miss ORA Rulebook. Following the pattern, you will dismount and speak with the judges in the arena for a horsemanship interview. After speaking with the judges, you will perform a queen’s run and flag presentation run. **Miss contestants will be drawing horses for horsemanship and you will ride Boll Weevil Livestock Horses**

PERSONAL INTERVIEW: Each contestant will have a timed private interview with the panel of judges. Contestants will be asked questions off their application as well as rodeo and horse knowledge. Miss interview will be 7 minutes long.

MEDIA INTERVIEW: Each contestant will participate in a media interview recorded in private during Friday night pageant rehearsals. The interview can range from any questions about the Miss ORA Pageant, Miss Rodeo USA Pageant, and the Ozark Rodeo Association. The interview will be no longer a minute. This will be judged in private by our selected panel of judges.

PUBLIC SPEAKING: Each contestant will be asked to prepare and deliver a speech in front of an audience and judges. Miss speech will be 1-2 minutes long. The topic is "State" and will be written about your home state.

IMPROMPTU QUESTIONS: Each contestant will be asked two impromptu questions. One will be personality and the other from the ORA Rulebook.

PHOTOGENIC: Contestant must submit a 5x7 photograph to be judged. Head and shoulder only. Must be vertical. This picture will also be featured in the program book. Western attire only.

APPEARANCE: Contestants will be judged on their overall appearance throughout the pageant. Please refer to the official rule book for more information on this phase of competition.

PERSONALITY: Contestants will be judged on their overall Personality throughout the pageant. Please refer to the official rule book for more information on this phase of competition.

WRITTEN TEST: The test will be over rodeo knowledge, horse knowledge, the Miss Ozark Rodeo Association Pageant, and the Ozark Rodeo Association Rulebook.

PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD: The people's choice award competition will be based off the number of votes each contestant receives. Votes will be $1/vote. Voting will be announced after the deadline for applications. This award WILL NOT count towards your final score. The contestant with the most votes overall out of

Rules of Competition

1.    Single, have never been married or pregnant.2.    Miss contestants must be a Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Illinois, Arkansas, or Oklahoma resident.3.    Miss contestants must be enrolled in school or work in the state of Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Illinois, Arkansas, or Oklahoma.4.    Contestants must have not been convicted of a felony. 5.    Absolutely no use of alcohol, illegal drugs, or tobacco from the time you enter as a contestant until your reign is over if you are to win. This will result in immediate disqualification.6.    The Miss ORA Pageant and ORA Board of Directors reserves the right to refuse any entry.7.    Pageant Director, Assistant Director, and ORA Board of Directors decisions are final.8.    Queens will wear their crown, sash, and buckle at all rodeos and appearances.9.    Queens will be expected to carry the flags in the grand entry at rodeos. You must be at the gate 15 minutes before the grand entry starts.10. Queens will be expected to help sell raffle tickets during the rodeos, help sell advertising for the finals program book, put up banners at rodeos if need be, and to meet with sponsors in the town where they are held. 11. Queens will always be dressed in western attire when they have on the crown and banner. No short sleeves or shorts. ORA dress code will be in effect when wearing crown and banner. 12. Queens will make sure they put their hats on so they will not come off while doing a queen’s run or carrying the flags. If you need to, use a stampede string, bobbie pins, or tape. Make sure it stays on. If your hat comes off in the arena, you will have to pay a $5 fine.13. Queens will not let other people wear your crown or sash at any time. Crowns and sashes are expected to remain in good shape throughout your entire reign. If for any reason your crown and sash get ruined throughout the year, you are responsible for replacing it.14. Queens will not chew gum while in crown and sash or during grand entry. 15. Miss ORA is expected to attend at least one night of 75% of the rodeos except for unexpected circumstances. (i.e. death, illness, school related event, etc.) You must get your attendance approved from a rodeo with the Director and Assistant Director the Monday before the rodeo.16. Queens must attend finals and the awards banquet.17. If for any reason the queen cannot fulfill her duties, the first runner up will take over as queen and all awards must be returned.

I have read and agreed to abide by all competition rules. If I am crowned Queen, these rules will remain throughout my reign.

Contestant Contract By my signature on this application, I hereby certify that I have read and completely understand the accompanying Official Rules and Regulations of the Miss Ozark Rodeo Association Pageant and I have also read and understand the accompanying Miss Ozark Rodeo Association Contract to apply to myself at all times during my competition in the Miss Ozark Rodeo Association Pageant, it’s programs, activities, and functions; that said rules and regulations pertain to all persons related to my appearance in the Pageant; and that Miss Ozark Rodeo Association Pageant, will rely upon my execution hereof and all terms and conditions set forth herein, in permitting my appearance and participation in the Miss Ozark Rodeo Association Pageant.

By the execution, I hereby RELEASE and HOLD the Miss Ozark Rodeo Association Pageant and Ozark Rodeo Association, the officers, directors, accredited sponsors both commercial and private, employees, agents, members and/or representatives of each, HARMLESS from any and all rights, claims and/or actions, direct and/or indirect, fixed and/or contingent, of whatsoever kind and/or character, as shall now exist and/or hereafter arise from, and/or be the result of, my, and/or persons related to, my appearance and/or participation in the Miss Ozark Rodeo Association Pageant, its programs, activities, and/or functions. The undersigned does acknowledge that she familiar with equestrian and rodeo sports and activities and that the same are inherently dangerous to herself and those related to her participation therein. The undersigned further acknowledges that Miss Ozark Rodeo Association Pageant cannot and does not guarantee the safety and/or well-being of any participant and/or against harm to the participant and/or the conduct of any participant other than the undersigned. The undersigned acknowledges that this release and indemnification is executed without specific knowledge of existing and/or future rights, claims, and/or actions, but executes the same notwithstanding such lack of knowledge, the risk thereof being known by, and assumed by, the undersigned and found to be reasonable for her assumption.

By the execution hereof, the undersigned does:

1. Grant permission to the Miss Ozark Rodeo Association Pageant and Ozark Rodeo Association to verify any and all information contained herein by and through information held by persons other than the undersigned and shall execute and deliver to the above-named entities such as documents are required to obtain any and all information reasonably necessary to verify any and all such information.

2. Certify herself to be of the age evidenced by the Certificate of Birth attached hereto and/or to be attached hereto, as Exhibit A.

3. Deliver and/or within a reasonable time hereafter, shall deliver one (1) electronic color, vertical head and shoulder photograph, for the Miss Ozark Rodeo Association Pageant Program and for photogenic judging of herself and does release all right, claim, title and/or interest therein together with any and all information provided herein, and/or hereafter otherwise acquired by the above, regarding the undersigned, for use in matters of public relations, advertising and/or promoting the Miss Ozark Rodeo Association Pageant both now and in the future.

4. Both now and in the future, authorize the Miss Ozark Rodeo Association Pageant and Ozark Rodeo Association to use, distribute, print, reproduce, and/or publish (a) any and all photographs provided by the undersigned, and/or taken by any authorized representative of the Miss Ozark Rodeo Association Pageant, Ozark Rodeo Association, and (b) information provided herein and/or hereafter acquired by the Miss Ozark Rodeo Association Pageant, Ozark Rodeo Association, relating to and/or otherwise regarding the undersigned, all without the right of present and/or future compensation.

5. I am not currently married, and I have never been married. 6. I am not a parent of any child and I am not pregnant.7. Certify to conduct myself in a professional manner at all public performances as well as in my

private life which I understand, that as a contestant of Miss Ozark Rodeo Association, reflects

directly upon the Miss ORA title, the Miss ORA Pageant, and the Ozark Rodeo Association. I understand the importance of portraying a positive image and exemplifying the highest standards as a potential role model and this includes any social media usage, which includes and is not limited to Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, or any other forms thereof.

The undersigned does agree that (a) the foregoing certifications and agreements are continuing in nature, (b) upon failure of any certification and/or authorization set forth above, and/or (c) if the undersigned shall fail to provide notice of the change in any of the above certifications and/or authorizations, during her participation in the Miss Ozark Rodeo Association Pageant, she will automatically and without notice be disqualified from further participation in the Miss Ozark Rodeo Association Pageant and does hereby agree to indemnify and hold the Miss Ozark Rodeo Association Pageant, Ozark Rodeo Association, together with the officers, directors, accredited sponsors both commercial and private, employees, agents, members and/or representatives of each, harmless as against all rights, claims, and/or actions arising by reason thereof.

Applicant agrees and stipulates that disqualification from participation in the Miss ORA Pageant either before or after competition will result in damages to the Miss ORA Pageant. In this regard, applicant agrees to pay Miss Ozark Rodeo Association Pageant a sum equal to all monies and consideration received as the result of applicant’s participation in the Miss Ozark Rodeo Association Pageant, the same being declared liquidated damages as between the parties.

In the event the undersigned shall receive the title of Miss Ozark Rodeo Association, she agrees to complete the tenure of the title in accordance with the rules and regulations of Miss Ozark Rodeo Association Pageant; shall at all times act in the best interest of and to promote the Miss ORA Pageant; make such public appearances as shall be designated the Miss ORA Pageant; and shall relinquish and deliver to the Miss ORA Pageant, all claims and accouterments (crown, banner, buckle, chaps, breast collar, etc.) as shall relate to the title of Miss Ozark Rodeo Association, all upon the naming of a successor to such title.

This agreement shall be binding upon all heirs, assigns, successors, trustee’s, receivers, legally appointed guardians, administrators, executors, and personal representatives of the Miss Ozark Rodeo Association Pageant, Ozark Rodeo Association, and the undersigned.

By submitting this form and your contestant application, you agree that should you win, you will be prepared to sign the Miss Ozark Rodeo Association Lady-In-Waiting and Miss Ozark Rodeo Association 2020 contracts. It will be understood that if selected Queen, these rules and guidelines will remain in effect throughout the reign.

Miss Ozark Rodeo Association Pageant 2020Code of Conduct

Competing for and holding the Miss Ozark Rodeo Association title is both an honor and a responsibility. As Miss Ozark Rodeo Association, you are the face and symbol of rodeo to the Ozark Rodeo Association.

As such, rodeo cowboys and cowgirls depend on you to represent and promote the western lifestyle and the sport in a conscientious and respectable manner; aspiring rodeo queens of equal and greater age to the very young look to you as someone to study and emulate; individuals of all ages with an interest in the sport and nostalgia for the rodeo world will look to you for information and seek your time and attention. You model sportsmanship. Your conduct and demeanor is under constant scrutiny. You are a spokesperson, a role model, and encouraging word to rodeo and queen competitors alike. You are an icon for the sport of rodeo, and you represent the best the Ozark Rodeo Association has to offer.

The Miss Ozark Rodeo Association Pageant seeks young women fully capable of fulfilling this role with grace, maturity, and sophistication the title deserves. To demonstrate this capacity the organization expects Miss Ozark Rodeo Association to comply with the following code of conduct:

Follow the rules and requirements of all organizations and rodeos with whom you visit. Be on time to all pageant function and events. Follow the directions of the Pageant Director. Practice and encourage positive, supportive, sportsmanlike conduct toward every individual. Maintain a professional demeanor. Maintain high moral standards. Do not consume alcohol or controlled substances prior to or during a scheduled appearance,

nor while in official attire following that appearance.

Failure to follow the Code of Conduct and association pageant eligibility requirements and other pageant rules may result in immediate forfeiture of awards, prizes, and the title.

I have read, understood and agree to abide by the Miss Ozark Rodeo Association Pageant Code of Conduct as state on this document. If selected as Queen, these rules and guidelines will remain in effect throughout my reign.

Queen ExpectationsI understand that if I win the title of Miss ORA I will be the Ozark Rodeo Association’s official representative and responsible to present the Sport of Rodeo in its true light to the general public.I will strive to represent unexcelled sportsmanship, high moral and ethical character and humane treatment of animals.

I understand that the Miss ORA Pageant is not a beauty competition; rather, it is a competition which recognizes a number of attributes; sportsmanship, horsemanship, personality, public speaking, and appearance. Therefore, it is my responsibility, as Miss ORA’s official rodeo representative, to act, speak, and dress according to the esteem my title deserves, any time I am in the public eye.

Riding and horsemanship skills are key to the promotion of the Sport of Rodeo. Therefore, I will strive to improve my riding and horsemanship skills in order to better promote the Sport of Rodeo.

If I become Miss ORA, I will:• Wear my Miss ORA banner and crown at any time I am acting in the capacity of Miss ORA• Avail myself of all opportunities to appear as Miss ORA to the public and to be prepared for photographs and interview opportunities to promote the Sport of Rodeo• Attend specific rodeos as requested by the Director• I agree and understand that if I win the title, I will execute and contract with the pageant.• I agree and understand that I must submit this agreement with my entry form

Uphold the title of Miss ORA, encourage others to participate in future pageants and assist in the provisions of my reign, act as hostess to contestants in future pageants and assists in the promotion and conduct of the pageant in every way.

I understand that during official Miss ORA activities, an official chaperone will be designated for me and that I am not responsible to provide my own.

I also understand and agree that my official appearances must be approved by the director of the Miss ORA Pageant and agree to maintain close contact with the director to accomplish this.

I agree that during the term from my entry as a contestant and through my reign as Miss ORA, I shall remain unmarried and shall observe high standard of moral and ethical behavior befitting my title and setting a good example to the public, to future competitors, and the Miss ORA Pageant.

Waiver of LiabilityI hereby agree to release the Ozark Rodeo Association and the Miss Ozark Rodeo Association Pageant, the directors and secretary, and anybody that has facilities that are being used throughout the pageant and all their people from any accident claims. Sportsmanship AgreementI do hereby agree that sportsmanship and a positive attitude are important qualities of Miss ORA. I further agree that by entering this pageant I am asking for the opinion of the selected panel of judges on whether they feel I am the contestant most ready to serve the capacity of Miss ORA.

Therefore, whether I win or do not win this year’s title, I agree to conduct myself with grace and class, accepting the judge’s decision as final.

I further agree to not show publicly any animosity or discouragement regarding the pageant operation or outcome nor question the judge’s opinion, the pageant volunteers, administration of the pageant, nor trouble the sponsors not any other contestants or their entourage before, during, or after this year’s pageant.

Failure to adhere to this agreement may constitute in disqualification and a ban from future entry into any division of the pageant.

This parameter of sportsmanship applies to me, my immediate family, and any additional friends, family, or acquaintances that come in contact with the pageant.

A signature of agreement is a prerequisite for entering the Miss ORA Pageants. It is due prior to the official start of the pageant.

This agreement must be signed by both the contestant and a parent regardless of age.

Will you be selling ads?

Miss Rodeo USAThe winner of Miss ORA 2020 will have the opportunity to compete for Miss Rodeo USA in January 2021. This will give you an entire year to work with the director and board to prepare. This is completely optional, and you do not have to go if you do not want to. This will also not determine if you win our pageant or not. We just wanted to give you girls an opportunity to go on to a national level pageant. If you are interested and you win, we will discuss fundraising opportunities to raise money for you to be able to go. The Ozark Rodeo Association Pageant will be there to support you and guide you, however we will not pay your way in full. We have a lot of fundraising opportunities throughout the year to raise the money. You will also be invited to attend the Miss Rodeo USA Pageant for 2020 to cheer on our Miss ORA and learn more about the competition.
