MINUTES OF THE 58th SCHOOL BOARD OF THE SCHOOL OF HUMANITIES (SOH),
INDIRA GANDHI NATIONAL OPEN UNIVERSITY The 58th Meeting of the School Board of the School of Humanities was held on 5th March, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in Committee Room of the School of Humanities, F-Block, Tagore Bhawan, New Academic Complex, IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi - 110068. At the outset, the Chairperson of the School Board welcomed the School Board Members and thanked them for making it convenient to attend the meeting.

The following Agenda items were placed before the School Board Members, discussed and deliberated upon, and the following decisions were made:- 58.1 Confirmation of the Minutes of the 57th Meeting of the School Board of
the School of Humanities held on 7th September, 2018. 57th Meeting of the School Board of the School of Humanities was held on 7th September, 2018. The minutes were circulated to the members of the School Board for their comments/observation. No comments were received on the minutes. The School Board confirmed the minutes of the 57th School Board held on 7th September, 2018 as given in Appendix – I.
58.2 Action Taken Report on the minutes of the 57th Meeting of the School Board held on 7th September, 2018. The Action Taken Report on the minutes of the 57th Meeting of the School Board held on 7th September, 2018 were placed before 58th meeting of the School Board held on 5th March, 2019. The School Board noted the Action Taken on the minutes of the 57th Meeting of the School Board as given in Appendix – II.
58.3 The report of the Director, School of Humanities about the achievements of the School. The Director, School of Humanities reported on the events and achievements of the School in details. The members highly appreciated the efforts and achievements of the School of Humanities.
58.4 To consider and approve the syllabus of III, IV, V & VI semester of BA (Hindi) General Programme under CBCS .
The School Board members discussed and approved the syllabus of III, IV, V & VI semester of BA (Hindi) General Programme under CBCS as given in Appendix - III.

58.5 To consider and approve the syllabus of III, IV, V & VI semester of BA (Hindi) Honours Programme under CBCS.
The School Board considered and approved the syllabus of III, IV, V & VI semester of BA (Hindi) Honours Programme under CBCS as given in Appendix – IV.
58.6 To consider and approve the names of new members of the School Board of the School of Humanities under Statutes 10A of Clause 2(e) “Not more than five persons, who are not the employees of the University, co-opted by the Board for their specialized knowledge in any discipline assigned to the School or in any allied branch of Knowledge”. The term of the existing members of the School Board of the School of Humanities is going to expire on 16th March, 2019. The School Council of the School of Humanities held on 14th February, 2019, has suggested few names for the new members of the School Board.
The suggestion of the School Council regarding nomination of the new members in the School Board is placed before the 58th School Board for consideration and approval. The School Board considered and approved the following names as new members in the School Board of School of Humanities.

b. The name of Mr. Ramesh Menon as Course Writer for course of Creative Writing in English.

4th meeting of the CBCS Standing Committee of the School Board of the School of Humanities was held on 29th October, 2018. The minutes were circulated to the members of the CBCS Standing Committee for their comments/observation. No comments were received on the minutes.

The School Board ratified the minutes of the 4th meeting of the CBCS Standing Committee of the School Board of the School of Humanities, held on 29th October, 2018 as given in Appendix – XI.
58.23 Ratification of the Minutes of the 2nd Meeting of the Research Standing Committee of the School Board of School of Humanities held on 29th October, 2018. To consider and approve:-

2nd meeting of the Research Standing Committee of the School Board of the School of Humanities was held on 29th October, 2018. The minutes were circulated to the members of the Research Standing Committee for their comments/observation. No comments were received on the minutes.

The School Board ratified the minutes of the 2nd meeting of the Research Standing Committee of the School Board of the School of Humanities, held on 29th October, 2018, as given in Appendix – XII were approved by the School Board.
58.24 Ratification of the following items approved by circulation of the members of the School Board of the School of Humanities:-
a) To consider and approve the two additional names of the Experts for the
Expert Committee Meeting of MA Sanskrit programme.
b) To consider and approve the names of the Course Writer for BA Sanskrit
(General and Honours)
The above agenda items have been circulated through email to the Members of the School Board of the SOH for consideration and approval. The Board approved the same and the same was placed before the 58th meeting of the School Board for ratification. The School Board ratified the above items. The list of the two
additional names of the Experts for the Expert Committee Meeting of
MA Sanskrit programme and the names of the Course Writers for BA
Sanskrit (General and Honours) as given in Appendix – XIII were
approved by the School Board.
58.25 Ratification of the list of the Empanelment of Evaluators (received from different RECs). The School proposed names for empanelment of Evaluators for BA (Hindi & English) and MA (Hindi & English) for different Programmes/Courses of the School of Humanities. Various references have been received from Regional Evaluation Centre, Bhopal, and Student Evaluation Division regarding the empanelment of Evaluators. The University is bound to declare the result of the Term-End-Examination within 45 days of the completion of the examinations under the Sub-Clause (5) of Clause 9 of the Ordinance 9 on Conduct of Examination and Evaluation of Student Performance of the Ordinances

and Regulations of the University. As per Clause 4(iv) of the Statute 10A of the University Board of School, “recommend to the Vice-Chancellor names of course writers, examiners and moderators for different courses on the proposal of the Director of the School prepared in consultation with the Professors of the disciplines assigned to the School”. The School of Humanities has proposed names for empanelment of Evaluators for BA (Hindi & English) and MA (Hindi & English) for all the programme/courses of SOH. In view of the above, School of Humanities has sought the approval from Vice-Chancellor and the same has been approved by the Vice-Chancellor. The lists of the Empanelment of Evaluators proposed by the Hindi & English Disciplines of the School and lists received from SED for different Programmes/Courses of the School is placed before the 58th School Board for ratification. The School Board ratified the item. The Board approved the list of the Empanelment of Evaluators proposed by the Hindi & English discipline of the School and received from SED for different Programmes/Courses of the School.
58.26 Ratification of the following items approved by circulation of the members of the CBCS Standing Committee of the School Board of the School of Humanities:-
1) To consider and approve the names of the Course Writers for BA Urdu Programme
2) To consider and approve the names of the Editor for BA Urdu programme.
The above agenda items were circulated to the Members of the CBCS Standing Committee of the School Board of the SOH for consideration and approval. The Committee approved the same. The School of Humanities sought approval from Vice-Chancellor and the same has been approved by the Vice-Chancellor. The above items are placed before the 58th School Board for ratification.

The said agenda items were approved by the Research Standing Committee of the School Board of the School through by circulation (email) on 17th January, 2019, were placed before the 58th School Board for ratification. The School Board rectified the above agenda items.
58.28 Ratification of the list of the Evaluators for BA (Urdu) programme proposed by the School on request of SED.
The list of the Evaluators for BA (Urdu) programme was proposed by

the School on request of SED due to shortage of evaluators. The School of Humanities sought the approval from the Vice-Chancellor and the Vice-Chancellor approved the same. The list of the Evaluators for BA (Urdu) programme is placed before the 58th School Board for ratification. The School Board ratified the said item. The list of the Evaluators for BA (Urdu) programme as given in Appendix – XV were approved.

58.29.1 To consider and approve the Progress Reports of Ph.D Hindi Scholars - from January to June, 2018 and July to December, 2018
The progress reports of eight Ph.D Hindi Search Scholars has been placed in the DRC (Hindi) meeting held on 14th January, 2019. The minutes of the DRC (Hindi) meeting held on 14th January, 2019 as given in Appendix-XVI were approved.
58.29.2 To consider and approve the Progress Reports of Ph.D English Scholars - from July to December, 2018.
The progress reports of seventeen Ph.D English Search Scholars has been placed in the DRC (English) meeting held on 1st March, 2019. The minutes of the DRC (English) meeting held on 1st March, 2019 as given in Appendix-XVII were approved.

The above agenda items have been circulated through email to the Members of the CBCS Standing Committee of the School Board of the SOH for consideration and approval. The Committee approved the same and the same was placed before the 58th meeting of the School Board for ratification.
The School Board ratified the above items. The Board were approved the name of the Experts for BA Hindi (General & Honours) under CBCS and the name of Dr. Ranjan Kumar Tripathi, Associate Professor, Deptt. of Sanskrit, University of Delhi, Delhi as a Course Editor for BA Sanskrit (General).
