Shakespeare 400

2016 commemorates 400 years since the death of William Shakespeare. He was widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language. He is often called England’s national poet, and the "Bard of Avon" To the world, he left a lasting legacy in the form of 38 plays, 154 sonnets, and two narrative poems.

Imagine that you are an English teacher in a grammar school in Oxford. You organize a 3 day excursion (21-23 April, 2016) for your class to London to participate in some of the events of Shakespeare 400.

Prepare a 2 page (size A4) information material for the parents about the trip.

• The following points should be covered:

- Main purpose of the trip. Write 2-3 sentences about the anniversary and what this trip will add to students’ knowledge and general outlook on Shakespeare.

- Programme – List all the programmes you plan to participate (minimum 1 per day) and write a short introduction (3-4 sentences) about each event.
