Selling price of Burnable Garbage Bags

●Items made of burnable materials are placed in the Minoh City Burnable Garbage Bag.

Reducing volume by draining liquids, breaking large items into small pieces, etc., will help to fit all of your garbage in the freely distributed city garbage bags.

　You can put them out in any clear bag of up to 40L capacity (Make sure the bag is closed tightly)

You can cut them into pieces less than 7cm diameter and 50cm length, and tie them in carriable bundles.(Please use a string made of burnable materials)

They may be put out as burnable garbage, but in order to promote recycling and reduce the volume of incinerated garbage, as well as promote local organizations' activities, we ask for your cooperation.

Disposal of recyclable garbage and dangerous garbage is free as long as the correct way of disposal is followed.

The free disposal of a set amount of burnable garbage has been implemented as a financial method to promote garbage reduction. A fee will be charged for disposing more garbage than the set amount.

Instead of a "free garbage disposal no matter the amount," a "lower fees for lower amounts" policy is better to promote garbage reduction. Furthermore, it is a better system as it reduces the burden of those who produce less garbage.

The help of every single citizen is important for garbage reduction. For this purpose we ask you to reconsider what products can be used again and recycled. It is of utmost importance to raise awareness about garbage reduction.

In order to reduce and recycle garbage, and to share the responsibility of gas emissions more equally, Minoh City charges a fee to dispose of garbage.

　If you are a Minoh citizen you can receive a set amount of Burnable Garbage Bags for free depending on the number of people that reside in your household.　If the amount is insufficient you can get more for a fee.　Households with children under 3 years, people above 65 years, and people with a level 1 or 2 Physical Disability Certificate get more free bags.

A part of the disposal cost (about half) is added to the original price of the garbage bags and disposal tickets. This is to charge people a part of the disposal expenses corresponding to the amount of garbage, in order to preserve equality and make people understand that getting rid of the garbage has a cost. By doing so we hope people will be more willing to reduce the amount of garbage they produce.

In the year 2003 the new system was implemented. In 2013, 10 years after its implementation, an 11.6% garbage reduction was achieved regardless of the city's population increase. No rebound effects have been observed. Thanks to the efforts of the citizens, we have been able to advance towards greater garbage reduction awareness.

Disposing of garbage for independent collectors

The funds raised by the garbage collection serve as an important mean to fund the organizations' main activities. Taking away recyclable garbage will be taken as an intent to steal those funds. In the city, citizens' collection activities are protected by the law.

The city will on first instance issue a restrictive order to anyone who takes away recyclable garbage without permission. If the person ignores this warning, the police will be called, and depending on the judgement a fine of up to 100,000 JPY will be issued.

No. Please treat it as funds for the activities of the children's and local organizations that collect independently. Within the city, there are children's groups and resident associations that independently collect cans in order to secure funds for their activities.

In facilities like a residential complex, dispose of them in a basket. This must have a sign attached (provided by the City) with the inscription "無断持ち去り禁止 (do not take away)."

Specify the name of the collecting organization and that it is prohibited to take away.

In places other than that mentioned in point ①, dispose of in a container with a sign (provided by the City) with the inscription "無断持ち去り禁止 (do not take away)."

Collection is performed by Ikeda City branch of the Recycling and Modernization Council. Please contact an agent to inquire about the stickers.
