MiniVAN  Canvassing  Guide    �MiniVAN  allows  you  to  go  canvassing  with  your  iPhone,  iPod  Touch  or  Android  Device.    MiniVAN  is  easy  to  set  up  and  to  use.      Step  1:  Set  up  the  MiniVAN  application.    Download  the  latest  version  of  MiniVAN  from  the  Apple  App  Store  on  the  Google  Play  Store  to  your  device.      Make  sure  to  upgrade  from  older  version  of  MiniVAN  to  get  all  of  the  latest  features.      Step  2:  Create  a  List.      Create  a  list  just  as  you  normally  would  for  canvassing.      

   Step  3:  Cut  Turf      

   Each  person  using  MiniVAN  will  need  a  different  part  of  the  list.    Use  the  turf  cutter  to  split  the  list  up  by  neighborhood  and  create  “turfs”  for  each  user.      Step  3:  Send  list  to  MiniVAN  

 

   Select  the  MiniVAN  icon  in  the  My  List  workflow  to  send  your  list  to  MiniVAN.      A  screen  will  appear  where  you  can  choose  the  list  name,  the  MiniVAN  format  you  want  to  use  and  the  your  script.        

   When  selecting  the  “Canvasser”,  you  are  selecting  the  person  who  the  lists  appears  for  when  they  log  on  to  the  MiniVAN  application.  Each  user  who  is  using  MiniVAN  needs  to  have  a  VAN  account  set  before  they  can  be  assigned  a  list.      If  you  need  a  customized  MiniVAN  format,  survey  questions  for  your  script  or  user  accounts  please  work  with  your  VAN  administer.      Step  4:  Logging  into  to  MiniVAN    Once  the  lists  are  exported  to  MiniVAN,  log  in  to  MiniVAN  using  your  VAN  username  and  password  to  see  the  list.    

 You  will  also  to  select  the  database  your  list  was  created  in.      

     Step  5:  Select  your  List    Select  the  list  you  want  to  download  to  your  device.  Lists  stay  available  for  30  days.    

   Be  sure  to  review  the  details  of  the  list  by  clicking  on  the  arrow.  If  list  looks  correct,  select  ”  Download  List“.      

   Step  6:  Go  Canvassing      

The  list  can  sorted  by  people,  address,  or  map  view.  Make  sure  you  if  you  are  using  map  view,  you  have  your  GPS  enabled  so  that  you  don’t  get  lost.      

   You  can  click  on  the  name  or  address  to  canvass  the  person.  To  mark  someone  not  home  you  can  just  swipe  where  it  says  not  home.      

   You  can  also  view  instant  canvass  results  as  well  as  survey  question  and  activist  code  responses.    

   

Step  7:  Sync  your  Data    Pick  the  sync  type  you’d  like  to  perform  and  confirm.    

   Step  8:  Commit  your  Data    You  will  need  to  go  into  the  VAN  to  commit  your  data  and  get  your  data  fully  searchable.      Click  where  it  says  MiniVAN  in  the  main  menu.      

   Use  the  check  box  feature  to  select  the  correct  list  you  are  looking  to  get  back  into  the  VAN  and  click  where  it  says  commit.      

 

You  can  click  the  number  of  attempts  to  review  further  details  about  the  data.
