Introduction: Republic of Indonesia

• Geography:– Lies between latitudes 11°S and 6°N– An archipelago comprising

approximately 17,000 islands in South East Asia with country size area is about 1,919,440 sq km.

• Demographics:– Population is over 238 million people.

– There are around 300 distinct native ethnicities, and 742 different languages ethnicities, and 742 different languages and dialects.

• Administrative Divisions:– There are 33 Provinces, each Provinces

are subdivided into regencies (kabupaten) and cities (kota), which are further subdivided into district (kecamatan), and again into village groupings (either desa or kelurahan). Furthermore, a village is divided into several citizen-groups (Rukun-Warga/RW) which are further divided into several neighbourhood-groups (Rukun-Tetangga /RT).

• Economy:– In 2010 GDP was US$706.73 billion.

• DETIKNAS has a vision to accelerate the growth of information andcommunication technology (ICT) in Indonesia efficiently by creatingnational ICT policy through the synchronization of ICT programs throughout theMinistry or Institution.

• DETIKNAS determine the Flagship Program, or a strategicprogram thatis an ICT program that became a national focus,which is a program that hasa huge impact on government, society, international, andthe least political resistance. This program is taken one from each component ofthe ICT blueprint.the ICT blueprint.
