Background
The Union Government is striving to gain national reconciliation, internal peace, a constitution
towards the democratic federal republic and upgrading the social standard of the people.
Dept. of Rural Development is carrying out people-centered sustainable rural development
works in accordance with the Strategic Framework for Rural Development.
We are presenting rural development works that can gain quick win in 100 days.
Priority of rural development works to be carried out in 100 days
1. Access to clean drinking water ,
2. Repair and maintenance works of infrastructure,
3. Extension of people-centered rural infrastructure development and capacity building projects,
4. Extension of Green Village project for rural livelihoods and family income generation,
5. Capacity building and vocational trainings,
6. Plans for good procurement process.

Weather changes due to El Nino
The Department estimated that water shortages might occurred in 1760 villages in 176 townships
all over the country due to El Nino in 2015– 2016.
Till March 2016, water shortages occurred in 172 villages, and it was dealt jointly by the
Department and organizations concerned:

Donors 51%
The Department distributed warning announcements, contact phone numbers, plans and supplied
fuel oil.
Long term water supply plans for areas where severe water shortages might occur are developed
and these areas will be given priority.

for 680 village tracts in 13 townships.
