Once one chooses to become a disciple of Jesus Christ, stewardship is not an option.

John J. McRaith

Jesus calls us, as His disciples, to a new way of life of which

stewardship is an integral part of discipleship. As stewards, we

recognize that everything from God is a good and gracious gift and He

is the true owner of all that we have in life. As such, stewardship

requires that we learn to see all of our life, including our talents,

wealth and time as an investment made in us by God and that we do

have a responsibility to employ them for His Kingdom.

As stewards, we are to be constantly mindful of God’s question,

“What is that in your hand?” (Exodus 4:2a) and always asking

ourselves, “What can I do with what He has placed in my hands?”

Peter tells us in 1 Peter 4:10 that good stewardship means we use

whatever gifts God has entrusted to us to serve one another. Blessing

others for the sake of His Kingdom is thus the best way of managing

what He has put in our hands and also the most appropriate

expression of our gratitude for His love and goodness to us.

As you look through the pages that follow, prayerfully consider what

God has placed in your hands. Ask Him to also direct you as to how

you can use what He has blessed you with to serve one another in the

community and therefore bring glory to the Giver and His Kingdom.

Adult Cells Ministry A Cell is a group of believers who come together regularly to encourage one another in faith, pray, grow in understanding of the bible and reach out to others. The Cell Ministry in SJSM is committed to form Christ-centered small communities within the larger church, and these are known as Cell Groups. Objective It's easy for anyone to become a faceless number in the larger crowd during our weekend services, so we believe that cells are the key to a healthy church. A cell group creates opportunities for people to get to know one another better, hence it is a place where we build Christ-centered friendships. More importantly, cell groups encourage spiritual growth through intentional discipleship. Ministry Opportunities Administrative support in areas such as following up with visitors

to cell and collation of the cell database. Event support such as registration, projection, PA support AND

serving of refreshments. Assisting in special projects such as Cell publicity and updating the

Cell noticeboard. Contact Persons Pearl Yeo 67739421 [email protected] Jenny Lee 67731736 [email protected]

Prayer & Intercession

“I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.

This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” 1 Tim 2: 1-4 Objectives To build SJSM to be a house of prayer for the nations. To intercede faithfully for the various ministries and events in SJSM. Ministry Opportunities Engaging in one of the 12 public intercession groups that meet

weekly. Details of meetings can be found in the church bulletin. Committment to any of the 4 prayer arenas namely, Singapore,

Dover, Missions and Diocese/Province. Conducting research for informed intercession. Kindly contact the

Intercession division for more details. In the days of Ezekiel, God lamented, “I looked for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found none.” Ezek. 22:30 Would you hear His call today, to respond and pray? Visitation & Pastoral Support

The visitation and pastoral support ministry is a “heart” ministry, doing home/hospital visitations in the name of Jesus Christ. The teams make regular visits to the sick and needy members of our church. Visits are also arranged for the elderly and non-believing parents of our members upon requests.

Objectives We aim to support the sick and needy through prayers and encouragement, both emotionally and spiritually. We also fellowship with the needy and the caregivers, and administer Holy Communion to the communicants who are unable to attend our worship services.

Ministry Opportunities Be part of a team that Makes home and hospital visitations. Prays for the sick and home-bound. Provides transport for ministry purpose. Gives care to the home-bound.

Commitment Regular visitations on Thursday afternoons and Fridays. Special or urgent visitation upon request. You are encouraged to commit to a weekly visitation or at least once a month. We hope to have 5-6 people in each team. Currently, we need more men to join the teams!

Family Life Ministry

Objectives The Family Life Ministry (FLM) aims to help members build strong marriages and family life through Christian education, equipping and support. Our belief is that the foundation of family life, and God’s design for marriage is one where both husband and wife are committed to love and care for each other. Our conviction is that children are a gift from God, and they should be raised with love, intention and care by their parents.

FLM is involved in organising: The Marriage Preparation Course (MPC, for couples considering

marriage). The Marriage Course (TMC, for married couples) and other

family-related seminars, talks and workshops. The Parenting Course in the near future. The quarterly "Seasons of Life" in-house magazine. Ministry Opportunities We welcome experienced married couples, who can identify with FLM's aim and can help in discipling other couples, to serve as MPC facilitators and TMC support couples. Christian Young Adults Network

Christian Young Adults Network (CYAN) comprises a cluster of cell groups which meets regularly either on Wednesday or Saturday night. Members are typically in tertiary education, serving national service, or in their early years of work (age 19 to early 30s) Objectives CYAN continues to use the cell group structure to:

Bond: creating opportunities for people to know one another better and establishing strong Christ-centered friendships.

Build: teaching and discipling members so that they grow in spiritual maturity.

Broaden: stretching the perspectives and understanding of the members regarding key issues relevant to adulthood, and helping members to discover their area of gifting, thereby widening their sphere of influence.

Bless: encouraging and sending members to serve and be a blessing to the local community, or one of our mission stations.

Ministry Opportunities Lay Volunteers who are in their mid-30s and above to walk alongside our young adults, playing one of the following roles: Mentor (to one or more individuals).
