Jalál means “Glory”
Glory means honor that is won
by notable achievements.
Mine Rich In Gems Presents
19 Day Feast Pages for Kids
Baha’u’llah’s Mission is to Unify Mankind! For the 19 days of Jalál we can think about and take actions related to GLORY.
Let’s read a Hidden Word from Bahá'u'lláh and what ‘Abdu’l-Bahá says about love:
“In the garden of thy heart plant naught but the rose of love…” ~Bahá'u'lláh (also found in Ruhi Book 3, Grade 1, Lesson 3) “Love is the most great law that ruleth this mighty and heavenly cycle, the unique power that bindeth together
the divers elements of this material world, the supreme magnetic force that directeth the movements of the
spheres in the celestial realms.” ~'Abdu'l-Bahá
“Bahá’u’lláh has drawn the circle of unity… we must all strive with heart and soul until we have the reality of unity in our midst, and as we work, so will strength be given unto us.” ~'Abdu'l-Bahá Love is so glorious! Love is supposed to be in our hearts. Love will help us bring about unity.
• What is supposed to be in our hearts?• Why do you think love is so important and
glorious?• God gave us the capacity to unify mankind.
What a glorious gift to be given!

FAIZI: Let’s get ready, the Feast of Jalál is almost here! I found out that Jalál means glory.
My dad often says, “God is the Most Glorious!” It seems to make him feel happy when he says
it. God sent us the Manifestations, right? Each Manifestation helps us to love and obey
God. That’s quite an accomplishment, isn’t it?
SOO: Yep! Prayers are really cool and glorious. To memorize a prayer is quite an
accomplishment. We’re all going to make a beautiful, window decoration in Feast class tonight.
I’m bringing some extra flowers for kids that don’t have them. Hey! Bringing joy to others
and helping others is glorious accomplishment, too. What are some other things that are
glorious?
OLINGA: Spring is glorious with all the different kinds of flowers and bright green leaves.
Gosh, I wish our garden had enough roses to make a big heap just like in Baha'u'llah's tent in
the Garden of Ridván. That must have been so… GLORIOUS… with all those nightingales
singing even at midnight! I wish I could have been there.
DOROTHY: Yeah! Isn’t it cool that Bahá'u'lláh is the King of Glory. Baha'u'llah's Teachings
and Prayers could make us glorious because when we read, and study them, and sing out His
Words they change our thoughts, words and ACTIONS! We help bring about unity. It’s the
greatest achievement. Unity is the greatest glory for mankind. I’m glad we are helping to
make it happen.

Within the month of Jalál begins a very special 12-day festival that called the King of Festivals. It is also called the Festival of Ridván. These are special days when Bahá’ís and friends celebrate the
Declaration of Bahá’u’lláh. The first day of the Festival of Ridván is a holy day. It starts on April 20th
at sunset and lasts until just before sunset the next day. The ninth and the twelfth days of Ridván are also holy days. More on those special days next month.
Bahá’u’lláh’s declaration happened just before His departure from Baghdad to Constantinople. He was being exiled for the second time. The people in Baghdad were so sad that He was going to leave them after living there for ten years. So many people came to His house that He had to leave to allow for his family to prepare for the journey. He and a few companions took a boat across the Tigris River to a garden that is known today as the “Garden of Ridván.” Ridván means paradise.
Bahá’u’lláh stayed in the garden for twelve days. He stayed in a tent. Every day the gardeners piled roses in the center of His tent. The piles were so high that the visitors who sat to drink tea with Bahá’u’lláh could not see each other.
In the midst of blooming roses and singing nightingales, Bahá'u'lláh told His closest companions that He was the Promised One of All Ages as foretold by the Báb. He shared that His Mission was to bring about the unity of humankind.

You Will Need:
• Crayons (use up some old broken ones!)
• Wax paper
• White paper (to protect ironing surfaces)
• Electric Iron
• Scissors
• Tape (double sided works best)
Steps:
1. Give each child a piece of wax paper that
Is a size for easy handling.
2. Draw a design with crayons on the sheet of wax paper. Use lots of color and go
over it many times. This will ensure the coloring is piled up nice and thick on the wax
paper. Some folks like to shave or grate pieces of crayon and then sprinkle the
colorful flakes on the wax paper. Others like to add dried leaves or flower petals in
their art. Hint: If you draw black lines in crayon around the shapes on your wax
paper, it looks like stained glass art!
3. At the ironing station, carefully place the colored sheet of wax paper face up, on
top of a white sheet of paper. Place another clean sheet of wax paper over the
drawing. Then place a second sheet of white paper on top of the stack.
4. With adult supervision, iron the entire surface. The 2 pieces of wax paper should
melt together when the crayon drawing melts.
5. Hang your art from a sunny window! We like to use double stick tape for this.
Note: After ironing, the art can be easily
cut into shapes like circles, hearts,
diamonds, butterflies, fish, etc. The pieces
can be hung to create a mobile with a bit
of thread and a couple of dowels or
sticks!

Do you know who ‘Abdu'l-Bahá was? He was a very important person. He was the Son of
Bahá'u'lláh. He was always very kind and good to others. He was the perfect example of
what a Baha'i should be. This is a true story about ‘Abdu'l-Baha.
A long time ago, long before you were born, ‘Abdu'l-Baha came to America. While He
was on His trip to America, He spoke to many different people ... men and women and
children.
He went to many cities - to churches and temples and parks and meetings and houses
to tell people about the Baha'i Faith. He spoke to young people and old people and
black people and white people and tall people and short people and rich people and
poor people...
He told them all about Bahá'u’lláh.
Wherever 'Abdu'l-Baha went, many Baha'is went with Him. They were Baha'is of all kinds -
Persians in Persian clothes, and Americans in American clothes, tall Baha'is and short
Baha'is and rich Baha'is and poor Baha'is and old Baha'is and young Baha'is. And all
colors - white and yellow and tan and brown and black.
Once, while 'Abdu'l-Baha was in New York, He went to a place where many poor people
lived, to tell them about Baha'u'llah. This place was called the Bowery.
Many Baha'is went to the Bowery with 'Abdu'l-Baha. As they walked down the streets,
some people stared at them because
they were so different.
Soon some of the children
started shouting and laughing.
They thought that it was
funny to see so many
different kinds of people
together. And, of course,
they didn't know who 'Abdu'l-
Baha was.
Some of the boys called names
and some even threw sticks at
‘Abdu'l-Baha and the Baha'is as they walked
down the streets.

Mrs. Kinney was one of the Baha'is with 'Abdu'l-Baha. 'Abdu'l-Baha was staying at her
house in New York. It made her sad to see the boys laughing and shouting at 'Abdu'l-
Baha. So, she went over to speak to the children.
She told the boys who 'Abdu'l-Baha was. She said that He was a very Holy Man. He had
spent many years in prison and had suffered very much, just because He told the Truth
and loved all of humanity. Now He was going to a meeting to tell poor people about
Baha'u'llah.
The boys were sorry for what they had done. "Can't we go to the meeting, too?" they
asked.
"No," Mrs. Kinney said that was impossible. But, since 'Abdu'l-Baha was staying at her
house, they could come there on Sunday to meet Him. She gave the boys her address,
but she didn't really think that they would come.
When Sunday came, the children arrived at Mrs. Kinney's house dressed up in their very
best clothes. She was very surprised to see them. But, she was very happy that they had
come to meet ‘Abdu'l-Baha.
All the boys came into the house. They went up the stairs and walked into a large room.
'Abdu'l-Baha was standing at the door. He was smiling and laughing because He liked
children very much. He met each one of the boys as they came into His room. He shook
their hands and put his arm around their shoulders. His smiles and laughter made them all
very happy.
The last child to come into the room was a little black boy.
When Abdu'l-Baha saw him, He was even happier than before.
In a loud voice He said that here was a black rose.
‘Abdu'l-Baha said these words because he was so happy to see
the last little boy. And, this made the little boy very happy, too.
Now, there is really no such thing as a black rose. Most roses are
red or yellow or pink or white. But, people say that if there
ever were a black rose that it would be the most beautiful
flower of all.
You know that some children are red or yellow or pink or white,
too. And, some children are brown or tan or black. All of them
are like beautiful flowers.
'Abdu'l-Baha loved to be with children of different colors. That is why He was so happy to
see the last little boy who came into the room - because he was different from all the
others.
Now, while the children were in His room, 'Abdu'l-Baha brought in a large box of
chocolate candy. He knew that most little children love candy. He gave every child as
many chocolate candies as he could hold in his hands.
The little boys surely never forgot their visit with ‘Abdu'l-Baha. And they surely never forgot
what 'Abdu'l-Baha had shown them - people of all kinds and colors are beautiful.

Here is a story about a devoted early Bahá’í, Lua Getsinger (1871-1916). You can find stories about Lua in Brilliant Star Magazine and at Bahá’í Stories for Children. She did her best to serve 'Abdu'l-Bahá which brought glory to her name. When she died, ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, upon hearing the news, remained silent for a long time. Later, he was heard repeating, “What a loss.” He revealed a prayer for Lua, praising her humility and asking God to “Exalt her station, submerge her in the ocean of Thy compassion and establish her in midst of the Paradise of immortality..."
