Rigoberto Sanchez, a spokesman for the Merardo Arce Command of the New People’s Army, said rebels killed Patrick Winneger, 48, in a daring attack Wednes-day at a market place in Kidapawan City.

He said Winneger was a staunch anti-communist advocate who passed on intelligence about the NPA to the military’s 6th Infantry Division.

Sanchez implicated Win-neger to the murder of Fr. Fausto Tentorio in North Cotabato province. “He coddled and financed fa-natical and anti-NPA Bagani groups, and targeted Fr. Fausto ‘Pops’ Tentorio. Text Messages in Winneger’s mobile phone confiscated by the Herminio Alfonso Command operatives re-vealed his role as handler of paramilitary Baganis linked with Fr. In fact, Winneger’s death is a first step towards achieving full revolutionary justice for the beloved Fr. Tentorio. The swift and timely punishment of one of the principals of Fr. Tento-rio’s killing stands as a fitting and just retribution amid the false justice dispensed by the US-Aquino regime,” he added.

Sanchez allegations were denied by the military and it strongly condemned the killing of Winneger. “Win-neger was a victim of extor-tion by the NPA. Winneger was murdered because of his refusal to pay so-called ‘revolutionary taxes’ to the NPA,” said Army Colonel Prudencio Asto, a spokes-

man for the 6th Infantry Division.

He said Major General Rey Ardo, the local division commander, ordered the filing of criminal charges against the NPA for the killing of Winneger.

In December, authorities also said it captured the alleged killer of Tentorio - Jimmy Ato - following a firefight with agents of the National Bureau of Investi-gation in North Cotabato’s Arakan town. His brother Robert, who was his accom-plice, managed to escape.

Tentorio, a staunch anti-mining and human rights advocate, was shot dead on October 17 last year and militant and leftist groups blamed the military for the murder, an accusation de-nied by security officials. He was third Italian missionary murdered in Mindanao the past two decades.

had long been on the NPA’s hit list due to his anti-com-munist activities in North Cotabato, Davao del Sur, and Bukidnon provinces.

“His active participa-tion in anti-NPA activities involved the supervision of Lumad military assets and passing of intelligence information to the fascist enemy that led to the death of two NPA Red fighters, and burning to death of a civil-ian in Saguing in Makilala town,” he said.

A military asset is a slang which refers to civilian in-formants or spies working for the army.

The rebels are fighting for the past decades for the establishment of a Maoist state in the country. Govern-ment peace talks with the rebel group had failed after Manila rejected demands for the unconditional release of all political prisoners in the country. (Al Jacinto)

ISSUES AND CONCERNS on power shortage along with its solutions will be taken up during a congres-sional inquiry in Cotabato City on March 13, the Mindanao Develop-ment Authority (MDA) said.

It said that Mindanao’s power and business sectors had called for the inquiry by the House committee on energy and special committee on Mindanao affairs to probe into Mindanao’s power situation and the curtailment scheme implemented by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).

NGCP is a private corporation that operates and maintains the country’s transmission network and responsible for delivering electricity to the distribution utilities and electric cooperatives.

“We understand that NGCP’s action prompted distributors (most-ly rural electric cooperatives) to implement two to four hours daily brownout,” MinDA chair Secretary Luwalhati R. Antonino said.

She said that in South Cota-bato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and General Santos City (SOCK-SARGEN) area, brownouts would sometimes last for 10 hours.

Antonino, however, believed that both the Agus 2 and Pulangi hydropower plants have a com-bined 65 MW or more untapped capacity that could sustain de-mand within a few yours during peak loads.

She said Agus has an installed capacity of 180 MW but only 90 MW is being transmitted to the Mindanao grid.

On the other hand, Pulangi has an installed capacity of 255 MW but only 180-200 MW is being dispatched.

Antonino said Pulangi’s in-stalled capacity can still be in-creased if dredging is done to optimize its operation.

Likewise, Agus 2’s output could be further stretched to a level that

House to probe power shortage

will not violate environmental policy on the operation of the plant or a level that will not cause flooding at Balo-I area.

“Although it is not yet clear if the 65 MW is the reserved power for Mindanao,” Antonino said this can be utilized during peak hours when demand surges.

“Bakit hindi ito ginagamit sa-mantalang ang dami sa ating mga taga-Mindanao ang napeperwisyo dahil sa araw-araw na brownout (Why isn’t it being used when a lot of Mindanawons are suffering from the daily brownout?),” she said.

Antonino said the congres-sional inquiry would hopefully shed light on these issues.

In January, the Association of Mindanao Rural Electric Coopera-tives reported that the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Manage-ment (PSALM) Corporation was withholding the appropriation for the maintenance of Agus and Pulangi because the plants are due for sale as provided for by the Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA) law.

AMRECO said that this con-tributed to the poor performance of the hydro plants.

Last year, the National Power Corporation (NAPOCOR) reported that at least P3 billion was needed to rehabilitate the hydropower facilities in Mindanao which can contribute to an additional com-bined power ranging from 100 to 200 MW if realized.

Power generation in Mindanao has been steadily increasing at an

average annual growth rate of 4.7 percent from 2002-2009.

In the second quarter of 2010, the average and peaking capa-bilities of the hydro power plants dropped to 771 MW and 860 MW, respectively, resulting in brownouts lasting four-six hours daily in several areas during that period.

Today, Mindanao is again con-fronted with “red alert” status since the start of the year, with around 80-100 MW deficiency as reported by NGCP.

The Department of Energy (DOE) has projected that demand for power in Mindanao would increase by an average of 4.6 percent annually over the next 10 years.

“To meet and sustain this demand, at least 1,000MW new capacities must be installed over the next decade and still another 1,500MW from 2021 to 2030”, said Antonino.

She said that installation of new capacities on a progres-sive basis is becoming highly imperative.

However, Antonino said that through the years, energy and power infrastructure plans, pro-grams and projects were largely prepared and decided upon in the national capital.

“Hence, strong collaboration of the Mindanao Local Government Units (LGU), private sector and industry stakeholders, emerged immensely crucial in leveraging Mindanao’s reasonable interests”, she said. With wire report

THINK a minute.Did you know that there

are two days you never need to worry about?

The first day is yes-terday.

It’s simply impossible to change the past.

Yesterday is gone…forever. There is nothing any of us can do to bring it back, especially by wor-rying about it. So whatever mistakes, problems, or hurts we had yesterday, we’ve got to stop worrying about them.

We cannot undo what’s already done, nor take back what we’ve already said, only ask forgiveness. Hope-fully we learn our lessons from yesterday’s mistakes. But then, let it go!

Life goes on, so we’d better go with it. The other day we never need to worry about is tomorrow.

None of us can control or know everything that might happen tomorrow.

Two days to never worry about

We don’t even know whether or not we’ll still be here! What’s going to hap-pen will happen whether we worry about it or not.

So we’re left with only one day that we can actu-ally do anything about: today.

As the saying goes: “The past is history, tomorrow’s a mystery, so today is all we have. It’s a GIFT, that’s why it’s called the PRESENT.”

All we have is right now, and today has enough problems, responsibilities, and worries of its own.

The last thing we need is to pile up yesterday’s and

tomorrow’s problems on top of today’s! No wonder some people are stressed out with even physical problems and sicknesses. Remember, if you don’t bury your worries, they could bury you! This is why Jesus Christ taught us not to worry about yesterday or tomorrow.

Jesus said: “Who can add a single hour to his life by worrying! Don’t worry about tomorrow. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Live just one day at a time.”

So all you have to do is take care of today. Make

sure you’re doing your very best in your respon-sibilities and relationships: that your heart is right with your Maker and other people.

Do all you can and then do a little more: don’t worry about it! Because as long as you’re living Jesus’ way in a daily personal relation-ship with Him, you know for sure you’ve got nothing to worry about.

But if today you’re not ready to die and face your Maker, you’ve got every-thing to worry about! So right now won’t you ask Jesus to forgive you for your past wrongs and liv-ing your own way. Then ask Him to take complete charge of your heart and lifestyle from this day on. That’s the only way you can start living His way all the time and be absolutely sure you have nothing to worry about.

Just Think a Minute.

A SUBSCRIBER of Philcom called this corner to complain of Philcom’s unfair treatment to subscribing clients.

Philcom is one of the telecom-munication companies in Cagayan de Oro City with branches spread throughout Mindanao.

Established in Cagayan de Oro City sometime in 1998, Philcom provided an alternative to existing telecommunication companies in this bustling port capital of North Mindanao.

Promising modern communication technology and an aggressive marketing through an ideal ‘subscriber-provider relationship,’ Philcom succeeded in getting a pie of the local communication market.

It has recruited subscribers to its fold threatening existing communication companies reeling with the onset of modern communication technology.

Then, Philcom’s subscribers started to grumble. The dwindling subscribers could have been due to incom-petent management and unhelpful staff.

Perhaps, Philcom’s company policies started to be-come inconsistent with established public relations rule prompting its initial bulk of clients to unsubscribed.

As a result, Philcom’s top executives changed hands. Probably, the company was then staggering in what is called transitional management period. At this moment, more pioneering executives started to leave for whatever reason. All the while, subscriptions continue to dwindle.

Anyway, the subscriber who called me up was ask-ing on what to do with his contract with Philcom. He wanted to call it quits because he is not satisfied with Philcom’s internet services.

He said that he has been with Philcom since the

Philcom violates ‘right of fair deal’company started operations in Cagayan de Oro City 10 years ago. At first, he was satisfied with Philcom’s services until the firm introduced their broadband DSL (direct subscriber’s line) internet services.

Philcom’s DSL broadband promises fast, reliable and efficient internet services. However, the client later found out that that assurance was only part of adver-tisement blitz.

Truth is, Phicom’s internet service is substandard. What the client meant was that Philcom’s internet is, at time, slow and sloppy. Sometimes, Philcom’s internet signals are intermittent and frustrating.

What really is frustrating is Philcom’s propensity of disconnecting internet services. ‘It is unfair for Philcom to disconnect internet services to subscribers with only a month’s arrear,’ the subscriber said.

He said Philcom staff argued that the disconnection is ‘automatic.’ However, this argument is only an excuse since the ‘barring’ connection can be lifted by assigned technician.

Well, the subscriber’s plaint is not isolated. In fact, some subscribers as far as Butuan City in the Caraga region experienced the same kind of Philcom treatment.

While other utility firms such as power and water services always adopt a three-month grace period, here comes a telecommunication firm that instantaneously deprived subscribers of basic communication services.

Perhaps, the National Telecommunication office should look into this problem. It is evident that Phil-com’s attitude is an indirect ‘harassment and violates consumers’ right of fair deal.’

Until Philcom corrects this malady, it is also but fair for its subscribers, anywhere in Mindanao to rescind their contract with the firm. After all, there are dozens of telecommunication firms willing to extend services better than Philcom. React: [email protected]

God in three personsThe New

Generation

Alex A. PodadorAlex A. Podador

THE word “Trinity” never appears in the Bible, yet many Christians believe in a triune God or one god, but in three persons.

What evidence does the Bible have of a Holy Trin-ity? The Bible says there is one God yet three persons share the power and author-ity of God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. They are distinct from each other; they have separate

missions. They are equal and different.

The Bible tells us that there is only one God: “Hear,

O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD.” (Deuter-onomy 6:4) Yet throughout the Book we can find evi-

dence of God being triune in nature, three equal persons in one.

His expression of His own appears early in the Scriptures. “And God said, Let us make man in our im-age, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creep-

FORGIVENESS, it is what we always hear being encour-aged in every religion. To those hearts brutally wounded find it hard to recognize forgiveness. For many years I have met people who find forgiveness as a fairytale.

Well, I cannot blame them for I do not know what happened in their past. Usually the past plays a role why some people become cold and unforgiving. One of the best lessons I learned from my dad is forgiving people despite the anger, pain, and making the first move to be forgiven.

In our family, modesty aside, I am the one with the forgiving personality and that is why I get abused a lot. Though mentioned in the bible that you have to forgive 77 times, forgiveness is an excuse to abuse or exploit a person. We may forgive a person 77 times, but what if you keep forgiving to the extent that you already look stupid? This is commonly found among faithful wives who despite their husband’s cheating remain forgiving. But of course, to forgive is the highest and most beauti-ful form of love. In return, you will receive untold peace and happiness.

If a person wants to be happy for a lifetime, for-giveness is the answer. Temporary happiness dwells in retribution. Most of us outclass in vengeance that result in hostilities. Being unforgiving can blacken the soul and even change one’s attitude like in ABS-CBN’s 100 Days to Heaven where Bobby unconsciously mimics the vile attitude of his former boss, Anna. A person being humiliated or assaulted tend to imitate the offender and

‘Anonymous’ leaders busted

Protestors wearing Guy Fawks masks hold the logos of the international hacker group Anonymous during a demonstration against Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement, ACTA, in Budapest, Hungary, February 11, 2012. AP as posted on voanews.com

U.S. offi cials Tuesday an-nounced the arrests of six high-profi le hackers, includ-ing Hector Xavier Monsegur. Documents fi led in a federal court in New York indicate that Monsegur, known in the hacking community as “Sabu,” cooperated with the investigation, leading to the arrests.

Th e documents say Mon-segur pleaded guilty last Au-gust to charges of computer hacking and conspiracy. He currently is free on $50,000 bond.

Monsegur claimed re-sponsibility for attacks on the websites for Visa and

SEVERAL alleged leaders of the in-ternational hacking organization “Anony-mous” are not anony-mous anymore.

Mastercard, two large credit card companies, and the on-line payment service PayPal, as well as on government computers in Tunisia, Al-geria, Yemen, Zimbabwe and the U.S. Senate.

Court papers also identi-

fi ed Monsegur as a member of two other hacking groups, “Lulz Security” and “Internet Feds.”

Another top hacker was identifi ed in court papers as Jeremy Hammond. Authori-ties arrested him in Chicago.

Offi cials say the arrests should deal a major blow to Anonymous, which has wrecked havoc on a range of government agencies and private corporations.

A group that sends out a Twitter feed for Anonymous assured followers and sup-porters that the group is okay and will continue hacking.

As a LulzSec leader, Mon-segur took responsibility for attacks on the websites of eBay Inc’s PayPal, MasterCard Inc and Visa Inc between De-cember 2010 and June 2011, according to court papers.

Despite the severity of the charges against Monsegur – the prison term could total up to 122 years – federal prosecutors argued that he should remain free on bail under the supervision of the FBI. It is highly unlikely that Monsegur would receive consecutive prison sentences.

Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing Phil Schiller discusses the prices of the new iPad dur-ing an event in San Francisco, March 7, 2012.

THE Apple computer company introduced a new version of its popular iPad Wednesday, with a sharper screen (featuring the “retina display”), an improved (5 MP) camera, and the ability to use faster 4G LTE cellular-based wireless services to access the Internet.

The iPad is a mobile computer and the new version has a nearly 25 centimeter screen.

Apple’s iPad is the best-selling of the so-called “tab-let” computers, and the improvements are apparently designed to help it keep its market share.

The Bloomberg financial news service says Apple will probably account for about two-thirds of the more than 100 million tablet computers that will be sold this year.

Apple also unveiled an upgraded version of its Apple TV box that allows users to take high quality video and audio programs from the Internet and elsewhere and play them wirelessly on high definition televisions and other devices.

The device is more powerful than the previous ver-sion and is about the size of a paperback book.

BACOLOD City––The enthusiasm of the Palar-ong Pambansa aspirants to see boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao during the opening rites of the 2012 Western Visayas Re-gional Athletic Association (WVRAA) here on March 12 swiftly faded away after the Saranggani congressman begged off from being the guest speaker.

Mario Amaca, Negros Occidental High School (NOHS) principal and chairman of the WVRAA

Pacquiao out, Zubiri in as guest speaker of WVRAA openingcommittee for the opening program, parade, security and traffic, said Pacquiao turned down the invitation for unknown reasons.

However, Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia, a close friend of the eight-time world champion, said Pac-quiao has previous commit-ment with several priests in Manila during the WVRAA opening ceremony.

Former Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri, a sportsman himself, will replace Pac-quiao to address about 3,200

delegates of the WVRAA opening rites to be held at the Panaad Park and Sports Stadium in Barangay Man-silingan here.

Both Pacquiao and Zu-biri came from Mindanao.

Amaca said Negrense World Boxing Organiza-tion (WBO) light flyweight champion Donnie “Ahas” Nietes, a native of Murcia, will still be the speaker of the sports forum of coaches and trainors on Monday morning.

A total of 2,096 medals

and 171 trophies from 17 sports disciplines will be up for grabs in the week-long regional sports competition.

Almost all the delega-tions from the five prov-inces in Panay Island have already arrived. The Capiz contingent is set to arrive Saturday.

Organizers of the Pal-arong Pambansa regional elimination here adopted “Sports: Honor and Unity Transcend Victory” as this year’s theme.

THE disbandment of the Philippine men’s and women’s softball teams might continue draining the country of talents needed in future international competitions.

This was revealed by Amateur Softball-Philippines operations manager Jun Veloso who, during Friday’s SCOOP Sa Kamayan weekly session, disclosed that neighboring countries in Southeast Asia have continu-ously been luring members of the national teams with good jobs and good pays to play for them.

This, according to Veloso, who appeared as guest in the forum sponsored by Coca Cola Export, ACTV 5, FILA and UNTV, is an offshoot of the Philippine Sports Commission’s decision relegating softball to the list of rebuilding sports along with 24 other disciplines.

Already, Brunei has sent words of its interest in re-cruiting Blu Boy Apol Rosales and Blu Girl Esmeralda Tayag, mainstays of the Philippines retaining the men’s and women’s softball competitions in the last SEA Games, to play in that country as well as help in its ambitious development program aimed at becoming at par with the Filipinos in the regional level.

Softball no more?Phil ippine Amateur

Baseball Association presi-dent Hector Navasero, who was also in the SCOOP ses-sion, shared Veloso’s senti-ment, saying the move by the PSC will, definitely, retard PABA’s program of at least retaining the Philippines’ top rating in Southeast Asia.

“Our ASA-Phil presi-d e n t , M r . Jean Hen- r i

Lhuillier, t h o u g h has appealed the PSC decision dropping us from the list of 10 prior- i t y sports and if such appeal falls on deaf ears, we can no longer stop both Apol and Esme from leaving us,” Veloso told members of the Sports Communicators Organiza-tion of the Philippines.

Clippers to increase ticket prices next seasonTHE Los Angeles Clippers plan to raise ticket prices by an average of 15 percent next season. It’s the first price hike in six years.

The team said Thursday that more than 9,000 seats at Staples Center will increase by 11 percent or less.

Team President Andy Roeser says the club studied the pricing strategy thoroughly and developed a plan mindful of its impact on Clippers fans.

Season-ticket sales have been at capacity for the entire current season for the first time in Clippers history.

The team was tied atop the Pacific Division with the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday, and the Clippers have sold out a long string of home games dating to last season.

Pekovic good to go for Lakers, Barea outNIKOLA Pekovic says he is ready to return to the Minnesota Timberwolves starting lineup, and not a moment too soon.

The burly center has missed the past two games with a sore right foot. The Timberwolves will need his size and strength on Friday night when they host the Los Angeles Lakers.

Pekovic practiced on Thursday and says the foot feels good enough to play. He’ll test it again in pre-game warmups on Friday, but expects to play.

Guard J.J. Barea is not expected to play because of a sprained left ankle. Barea was hurt in the fourth quarter on Wednesday against Portland. It’s been a painful first season in Minnesota for Barea. He’s also missed time with a strained hamstring and calf.

TRIBAL TEENS NOW TEXTING IN NATIVE TONGUE

Technology rescues dying languagesIN interconnected world, global languages like Eng-lish, Spanish and Chinese are increasingly dominant.

But there are some 7,000 other languages spoken around the world and lin-guists say up to half of them are at risk of disappearing by the end of the century. That works out to one lan-guage going extinct every two weeks.

Now, some defenders are turning to technology in hopes of reversing that trend.

‘Moribund’ languageMembers of the Siletz

tribe on the Oregon coast

take pride in a language they say “is as old as time itself.” But today, you can count the number of fluent speakers on one hand.

Bud Lane is one of them. “We had linguists that had come in and done assess-ments of our people and our language and they labeled it - I’ll never forget this term - ‘moribund,’ meaning it was headed for the ash heap of history.”

The Siletz tribal council was determined not to let that happen. Realizing he would need outside help to revive the Siletz language, Lane turned to several Na-

tional Geographic Fellows, who helped him record 14,000 words and phrases in his native tongue.

Talking dictionaryThe word translations

are now available online, along with lesson plans, as part of a “talking dictionary.”

The site is hosted by Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, where lin-guistics professor David Harrison has also posted talking dictionaries for sev-en other highly-endangered languages from around the world.

“This is what I like to call the flip side of globaliza-

tion, or the positive value of globalization,” Harrison says. “We hear a lot about how globalization exerts negative pressures on small cultures to assimilate.”

However, according to Harrison, language activists can now go on the offensive with modern digital tools such as iPhone apps, You-Tube videos and Facebook pages devoted to disappear-ing tongues.

Translating WindowsHarrison and a colleague

in Oregon have mapped hotspots for endangered aboriginal languages. One is the Pacific Northwest. Others include the upper Amazon basin, Siberia and northern Australia.

In Canada’s far north, the

Inuit people are struggling to preserve their native lan-guage. Part of their strategy is to get Microsoft’s help in translating its ubiquitous Windows operating system and Office software into Inuktitut.

The programming group had to invent new words to cover all the terms in some Windows and Word docu-ment menus, but project leader Gavin Nesbitt says it was worth the effort.

“So many people will spend their entire day sit-ting in front of a computer,” Nesbitt says. “If you’re sitting in front of your computer in English all day, that just reinforces English. If you’re now using Inuktitut, it is reinforcing [that] this is

your language.”That’s why Microsoft has

also worked with language activists in New Zealand, Spain and Wales to translate its software into Maori, Basque, Catalan and Welsh, respectively. Back in Or-egon, Siletz language teacher Bud Lane cautions that tech-nology alone cannot save endangered languages.

“Nothing takes the place of speakers speaking to other speakers and to people who are learning, he says. “But this bridges a gap that was just sorely needed in our community and in our tribe.” Lane points to one sign the tide is turning for his people: tribal youth are now texting each other in Siletz.

OROQUIETA City––The Misamis Occidental River Basin Management Council (MORBMC), noticing the massive degradation of Mt. Malindang, has formed vari-ous working units to protect the famous mountain from further natural and man-made harms.

The move was initiated by Governor Herminia M. Ramiro, considering the significance of Mt. Malin-dang, whose feet the whole province of Misamis Oc-cidental is seated.

This time, however, it’s going to be all against en-vironmental ills, as SCNM leader Tito Mora said in his Facebook post, they are pushing for the total closure of all forms of min-ing and logging operations in the city.

SCNM likewise renewed its call for government “to

and this could be trans-mitted from generation to generation through families and traditions.

Only forgiveness can break the curse. According to Catherine Ponder: When you hold resentment toward another, you are bound to that person or condition by an emotional link that is stronger than steel. For-giveness is the only way to dissolve that link and be free.

In my class, I always make sure that there are no hard feelings after I scold my students of their negli-gence. I remember last June 2011 during the barangay fiesta; I scolded two of my barangay tanods because they were drinking in public with their uniforms. One of them spearheaded a move to vacate their posts as a sign of protest and he even humiliated me over the ra-dio. I was furious that night because of what I heard but when I remembered what my parents told me, I asked forgiveness to my tanods when I made my welcome remarks during the opening program and made my point that it was nothing personal.

Sometimes, refusal of a person to forgive causes physiological disorders like heart problems, change in blood pressure, insomnia and many other diseases caused by nurturing anger. I felt this feeling many times when I was young because I always encounter fights with my siblings. I would feel my chest so tight that I want to clobber them but my parents taught me to how to forgive.

Always remember that people who cannot forgive nor has a hard time forgiv-ing have a trouble living life for it hinders growth. The future is blocked and there is no place for new growth. Forgiveness allows the grace of God to dwell in a forgiving heart. Forgive-ness allows healing. As what Mahatma Ghandi once said: The weak can never forgive.

creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.” (Genesis 1:26) Notice that God refers to Himself as “˜us’, supporting the doc-trine of plurality.

Another evidences sup-ports it in the Gospel of Mat-thew, he named the persons of the triune Godhead: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” (Matthew 28:19) Jesus tells us in the Gospel of John that, “I and my Father are one.” (John 10:30) Each person of the Godhead has a unique name, character and role.

God is the mind of God, Jesus is the embodiment of God and the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God. We are made in His image with body, mind and spirit. Each part of our nature is distinct from the other but works together; each part of the Godhead is distinct but works together.

The three persons of the Godhead are distinct from each other. When Jesus spoke of God, He spoke of the Father. He prayed to the Father: “At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.” (Matthew 11:25)

God spoke to Jesus, nam-ing Him as His Son: “And lo a voice from heaven, saying, this is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17) The Spirit speaks to God interceding

with God on our behalf: “And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” (Romans 8:27)

Each person of the Godhead has the author-ity of God and the power of God. “Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sancti-fication of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ.” (1 Peter 1:2) God alone has the power of foreknowledge; God alone has the authority to sanctify; God alone has the authority of salvation. God as the three persons of Father, Son and Holy Spirit makes up the Godhead.

God the Father testifies to the Godhood of the Son and sends His Holy Spirit to comfort us. He is also our Judge in heaven, while Jesus Christ is our defense attorney and the Holy Spirit is our intercessor. Each per-son of the Godhead has a unique function, yet they all share the work of salvation:

One church testifies that Jesus is the Father, believing the oneness of his godship. Their defense is that His being a triune God was not stated in the Bible but the passages stated above prove His being a triune God.

The Bible doesn’t use the word “˜trinity’ but it does name three persons as God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Each person of the Godhead is separate and distinct, yet they share power and authority.

Patag, Cagayan de Oro City has renewed their pledge of support to the Aquino government.

Dellosa said the AFP is still validating the report but stressed that all of the officers and men of the AFP are loyal to the duly elected government. With wire report

approved the ban on the request of the Davao City Peace and Order Council.

“All permits to carry firearms outside of resi-

dence are hereby tempo-rarily suspended for 31 days in Davao City in view of the celebration of the Araw ng Davao – the 75th founding anniversary,” said Senior Inspector Gretchen Cinco, a regional police spokesperson.

Cinco said policemen and soldiers are exempted from the gun ban. “Only members of the police and military and other law en-forcement agencies that are performing official duties and in agency-prescribed uniforms will be allowed to carry firearms in the city,” she said.

The ban was supposed to take effect on March 1, but it was only approved on Wednesday.

Mayor Sarah Carpio said she is happy with the gun ban, but her father, Rodrigo Duterte, who is the city’s deputy mayor, wanted a shorter period for its imple-mentation since many of the crimes committed in Davao are perpetrated by gangs and criminals and civilians must be able to protect themselves.

The rising criminality in Davao has alarmed many residents. Aside from crimi-

nals, communist rebels are also active in Davao City. (Ely Dumaboc with Mind-anao Examiner)

Fil Me Up...from page 2

The owner started to love Thai foods because of its distinguished and exotic flavors, and that’s what urged them to put up the first “Thai Me Up” res-taurant in Cagayan de Oro.

Don’t mistake it as a fu-sion but rather a separate en-tity. Fil Me Up offers exotic and very sumptuous meals selection like Humba with egg, lechon tinola, which this is the first time I heard of, crispy lechon ribs, lechon Sisig and other traditional food, where Chef Stanley gives a new twist to crispy pata stuffed with ginata-ang kangkong, and Fil me up seafood special with balayan sauce, kaldereta.

And don’t dare to leave without tasting their Fili-pino delicacies like binignit halo-halo, turon with ice cream, kakanin platter and binaki , ever heard of fried leche plan, well you can try and have your fill. Indulge and share the goodness of great tasting meals.
